run free my Newbian brothers! here is a little roleplay crash course Roleplaying is, for example, what an actor does; he/she plays a role! An actor for the most part however has his role defined by another, here on DM you are the definer of your own 'role,' you write your own script! What is your characters life goal? What does he/she want? like? hate? Basically the only limit is your own imagination. This is not something that can be taught to you, you make it up yourself as you go along. Roleplay is also how you perform every action and even what you say can be judged as good or bad roleplaying, talking with other players is what I want to tell you about 1. Speaking/Grouping a. Bad b. Good - OOCtell 2. Speaking (miscellaneous) 3. Don't cry, dry your eye! (getting killed) 1: Roleplay is also the actions you take here. For instance, you want to gain some ranks and need some groupmates? Want to find out if they are the the proper level, or of a suitable alignment? a. Avoid telling/asking someone, "What align?" "what is your rank?" "group?" "be third?" b. Say instead "What path do you walk in life?" "What station do you hold in your guild?" "Care to travel?" of course there are many variations on such things, feel free to find one you feel comfortable with -OOCtell- Asking what rank someone is can be difficult I find it easier to just use the ooctell command to ask or answer the question of rank, but sometimes people turn off OOCtell..... 2: Think before you speak! There are some things that can get you in trouble, or cause others to avoid being around you! *profanity* don't say f*ck, sh*t, b*tch, etc. (I don't doubt you know them all :P) and be careful how you use 'damn' *abbreviations* avoid saying things like 'bj' in place of blackjack it annoys some people and the immortals hate it! NEVER say 'pk' (for ex. "I got pk'd") DON'T say it or I will hunt you down and beat you w/a wire coat hanger!!!!!! *out of place* don't yell say things like hit/dam, con, wis, int etc. it ruins the whole mood, avoid saying 'ok' ok is an American 'word' and is totally out of place in the setting of DM (but its hard to not say it I know, it comes so naturally to me as does all the profanity, if I can control then anybody can :P) 3: Just a few words about getting killed by another player. Don't spam "YOU SUCK" to your killer, you want last long if you do. It's alright to tell them "You'll pay for that scumbag!" or "You were lucky this time!" bla bla bla, just use your head even thought you may be madder than a !@#$!@$~
