Subject: My Botcon Experience From: Tigatron Date: 1998/06/22 Message-ID: <358EBC5C.7F1BF28B@sonyinteractive.com> Newsgroups: alt.toys.transformers Well what can i say...this was my first Botcon and I was very Impressed and excited with this years show. I got to the botcon Saturday morning at 7:30 and waited in the front of line...had to get there early to be one of the first people in :). Anyways as soon as 9:15 rolled in...yeah yeah i know...they had us dying fans wait another 15 minutes to get in...those bastards :). Anyways once we got in..it was a mad house...everyone was going from table to table looking for that item they wanted...and I hope most everyone did find that item...me on the other hand didn't. I was looking for a MISB Prowl and unfortunately not one dealer had a boxed prowl...not even one loose in the box...on the bright side however i did find a MISB C9.9 Optimus Prime, which i'm very well pleased with...I'd have to say this is the prize of my collection...this thing looks as if it came off the toy shelf yesterday...case fresh. I also found the second thing i was looking for which was a Tigatron MOC...I was happy to get that, had to get the Japanese version too...which i think looks better than the american one and that one I opened. What was cool...was there was this one table that was selling the japanese Beast wars and other japanese toys for real cheap compared to the other dealers for ex. I got my Tigatron from them for 35 dollars..while most other dealers were asking anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars for him...so that was cool. I also got a MIB with Bubble insert HotRod, MISB Japanese Shadow Panther, MIB with Bubble insert AstronTrain, Both Botcon Exclusives Antagony and Vice Grip...which I put Vice Grip on Ebay cause i didn't really like him and thought i'd sell him...keeping Antagony though...she rocks :), finally I got this years Botcon Cd...which i've only heard up to the 4th song, but so far it rocks, most likely gonna get last years cd also. Once I bought the stuff...it was the looking around time...went up to the stage where they had the displays and man...not sure who's collection was up there...but this guy had everything...he must've had like over 100 boxed items up there. Also seeing the beast wars figures up there was awesome, especially the ones that are about to come out. I just can't wait till Depth Charge comes out...that guy looks so awesome *Drools*. I went over to the art section...they had some nice pieces...one of them I liked was a homemade version of Ravage in the Agenda series...it looked way awesome...kinda wished i could've bought that. Also went to the viewing room and watched a couple of beast wars episodes with my brother..who's never them before...which by the way...now he's hooked to the beast wars, also watch a japanese Beast wars 2 cartoon, and I watched the end of TF:TM...all of these were portrayed on a HUGE screen with stereo speakers...so seeing that was cool. Sunday was pretty cool...I met the guys that play Rattrap/Dinobot/Waspinator, met the guy that plays Terrorsaur/ BW starscream, and met the guy that plays Optimus Primal. Which by the way was cool...cause i got Gary Chalks Autograph on a picture of Optimus Primal and got that picture colored...most likely gonna frame that bad fellow. Anyways all and all this years botcon was an experience that i won't forget for along time...just can't wait till next year...definantly gonna go to that one..of course bring more money and participate in more of the acitivities...I missed the party and the script reading :(, I did however sit outside of the doors, with my brother and listen to them act out the script and listen to the guy that does Terrorsaur do StarScreams voice, was way cool...just wish i could've saw it. Definantly next year....man i can't wait...i'm gonna sign up for everything this time :). Well I'm out...and I hope to see all you people again next year wherever it may be...and for the people that didn't get to go...I hope you guys go next year and enjoy the same experience I did. 1
