Aliroos for Idiots -A quick guide to Aliroos for those who have no idea.
When the Universe was created, the beings in True Space evolved quickly. One race were the Aliroos, who quickly united in a race to put together the first space craft. Eventually all the species in System One were space-travelers, and were beginning to work on Transporters. The first to finish these were the Aliroos. Aliroos are winged kangaroos. Think of the name as ALI=WINGED, ROO=KANGAROO. ALI technically means "change" or "different" which is accurate as well, since Aliroos have the built in power to shapeshift. They can also conjure small things. More on that later..
The Planet ¤ is the Planet of the Aliroos. This planet is unique to System One because of it's odd magic distribution. The soil on the planet is different for each continent. The soil is colored with a magic "dust" that is a different color for each country. This dust is so propserous that it influences anything and everything that lives near it, including soil, rocks, plants and creatures. An Aliroo that is born on the Red Isles, for example, will be likely to be a reddish color. The Magic Dust only affect things that originate there, a blue Aliroo will not turn red by visiting the Red Isles. The Magic Dust also floats in the air, right to the edge of the atmosphere. Because of this, when System One's white Sun hovers over different parts of the planet, the light seems to change color. This phenomenon cannot be explained scientifically. But one way to tell the time on Plant ¤ is to monitor the color of the sun.
Each Aliroo has an Individual Color Frequency (ICF). This color is determined by three factors: The time of birth, the Parent's ICFs, and the Country in which the young roo is born.
Young Aliroos are called fledglings. Female Roos are Does and Males are Bucks. This is, of course, translated to the best of the Universal Translator's ability.
When a Fledgling is born, it's name is half it's parent's name, and half an original name. Names are very important to Roos; they carry the family line. Here's how names work:
If the fledge is a female, it's last name will be it's mother's first name with a different spelling. If the fledge is a male, it's last name will be it's father's first name with a different spelling. The fledge's first name is determined by the parent who's first name is NOT the fledge's last name. For example, My name is Tron Cole. My Father's name was Coal. Since I'm a buck my father's name was re-spelled and that is my last name. My mother gave me my first name. If the family of Roos decides to have more than one fledge, the other fledges will have the same last name as their eldest sibling.
Each country's Magic Dust also has an individual Magic Frequency. The most magical colors are Black, White, Silver and metallic colors. A Fledge's magic powers are usually determined by the same factors that change it's color. A fledgling born to two Black parents, on the Black Isles, during the Black Hour will be extremely powerful magically. This is, accordingly, extremely rare. Fledges that are born during/with the Blue, Green, Yellow or Purple cycles will be very intelligent and have a knack for weapons. Those born during the Earthly Colored Cycles will usually have the qualities of strength and endurance.
Aliroos, no matter what their magic background, all have the inherent ability to shapeshift and conjure. The shapeshifting is limited to any living creature, no matter what the size. When in a form other than Rooform, the 'roo's eyes (their ICF) stay the same color. Conjuration is pretty limited in most 'Roos to small, non-complex food or objects. Only 'roos with a higher magic-source background have been able to conjure technology, etc.
When a fledge has it's fifteenth birthday, it must pass a challenge before it can get it's TDT license. Once it gets it's license it can travel anywhere in the Universe. Also, when it gets it's license, it is given a Bubble, or Orb. These are invisible to everyone except the Aliroo it is given to. These Orbs are small, and follow their Aliroo everywhere. They have a psychic link to their Aliroo that allows them to record everything that happens to their Aliroo. The Orbs have names, too, but Aliroos rarely talk about their Orbs. When an Aliroo dies, it's Orb returns to Aliroo HeadQuarters, where it stays in a sacred room. If you would like to know anything about any Aliroo, you can visit the room, or access the Orb via computer. You must have mimimum security clearance, however.
The TDT has several useful functions. 1) It can open portals between dimensions. This allows Roos and other creatures with TDTs to travel throughout the Universe. 2) It works as a transporter within dimensions. By using these two features, one can travel to anywhere in the Universe. Along with these, the TDT acts as a computer and gives a Roo information about their planet. It also acts as a Universal translator.
Some planets/systems are visited more often than others. One of these is Earth. To cut down on the Aliroo population on planets, popular planets are given Embassies, satelites that orbit the planet. Aliroos who wish to visit must obtain a pass. So many passes are given out each year. Passes to Earth or very rare, especially after the discovery of a sub-dimension called Xanth.
The Aliroos are responsible for the running of the Alliance, an alliance formed by Dimension Hopping races. There are many of these races in the Alliance... However, only a scarce few send representatives to Aliroo HeadQuarters to take part in important affairs. The leader of the Alliance is elected by the Board, a group of Elite representatives. So far the Chairman has only been Aliroo. The most recently elected Chair'Roo was Blu Flyer, who took over after Greensborough. The ChairRoo is responsible for making major decisions that effect the Alliance, as well as monitoring civilizations that are nearing Dimension Hopping technologies. Civilizations are entered into the Alliance when they have technologies that apply. The Races are required to take an oath to uphold the peace of the Universe. The ChairRoo is in charge and makes sure that the allies uphold their oath. He or she must make sure that dangerous species do not hold threat to the Universe. If such a species or single entity threatens the Universe, serious measures are taken. Single entities are given fair trial. The most severe punishment is banishment to the Phantom Zone. If an entire species threatens peace, they too are given fair trial. The worst possible scenario for an entire army or planet that breaks the rules is for the planet to be destroyed or placed in a sub dimension. This has only been called for once, when the Drahls from the Planet Rakashae declared war against the Alliance. |
