The Rules

The AliRPG is a very easy-going list. It takes quite a bit to tick off any one member. Actually, the easiest to tick off is me, and ask my friends, that's hard. Ask my enemies, they'll tell ya it's easy ^.~ The Rules of the AliRPG are the Rules I live by. Because the AliRPG is my list, the AliRPG follows my rules. Before you go on, please read through them. If you don't want to follow these rules, I suggest you don't join the RPG =P The rules are nothing out of the ordinary, but they are to be taken seriously. If these rules are violated, I will officially chew your head off *G* No, in all seriousness. These rules are to be followed. I operate on a basic three-strike policy. Easy said? Here's da rules:
1. No SPAM Being an email list, the AliRPG is particularily subject to SPAM. I personally despise SPAM. SPAM, to me (and since I run the list, to the list), is any sort of commercial advertisement that is sent to the list to get more readers. So far we haven't had a problem with some weird advertisor joining the list to send us ads, but if they did, they would be long gone. SPAM is also FWDs. FWDs that tell you to "pass this on to more people" especially. This is called Chain Mail, and it WILL NOT be tolerated. Sending SPAM directly to the list won't be tolerated, and the use of the AliRPG member's addresses to send them SPAM won't be tolerated. Unless you KNOW FOR A FACT they don't mind you sending them "friendship chain letters," DO NOT send them!! And know for a fact that I do not like ANY kind of SPAM. I wouldn't tolerate SPAM from my best friends! But of course, they know that, and they don't send me any =P
2. No FLAMING FLAMING ON THIS LIST IS NOT TOLERATED. I try to see to it that the members of this list are open-minded people; any sort of FLAMING or "put-downs" (teacher-talk, I know, but it works) directed at ANYONE for ANYREASON (let me underline this) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!! Alright, I'm done yelling. I have to make this clear however. This is a, to paraphrase those commercials, "equal-opportunity" email-list. Any sort of prejudice against any players regarding gender, ethinic background, religion, sexual orientation or ANYTHING, again, does NOT have a place on this list. The ONLY exception to this rule is if you are playing a character who carries these ideals. And that char sure as #311 better be an antagonist =P If you have ANY questions regarding this rule, or any problems with someone on this list, you are NOT to send your complaints and/or flaming to the list, OR to the person, you are to send them to ME, if anyone. I would rather not get them, but if you've got a problem with someone on the list, you tell ME. *whew* There, that's Blu Flyer's big, bad, scary side =P
3. Regarding Content This is an open-speech RPG, but just because we allow cursing doesn't mean you have to fill every sentence with four-letters. If you're going to swear, try to avoid swearing superflously. Yes, swearing in itself is superflous, but you get my drift, alright =P This hasn't come up, but personally I want the AliRPG clean of any explicit and/or graphical sexual content. I don't think I need to elaborate on this, you know what I'm talking about. If you have any question as to whether your post is appropriate, don't hesitate to send it to me and ask =)
4. On Writing This RPG is open to all people, no matter how good your writing is. I would like to ask a few favors though. I've been on more than a few RPGs, and I have a sort of guideline I'd prefer the AliRPG follow. If you just absolutely can't do these, that's fine =) But really, they aren't a whole lot to ask =) In RPing... 1. Put your speech in quotation marks. You know, those happy little things above the coma. You might think this is obvious, but (apparently *G*) to some people it's not. So put your talking in quotes ^.^ 2. Use your enter key. I have seen five-page posts that have no paragraphs or indentations. Man o MAN, those are a pain to read. I don't mind if you have long paragraphs; just as long as they are a paragraph and not your entire post in one huge block of text =) 3. Try to use punctuation. This isn't real big, but consider this: This RPG works over email. The meanings of many phrases/sentences can be changed by the punctuation and word-stress. For example, the stress on a word can change a serious question to a rhetorical one. In response to a message where someone says something flattering about themselves, someone might say, "Why did you THINK everyone liked you?" That's rhetorical, sort of a joke. "Why did you think everyone LIKED you?" Sounds almost sarcastic. You kinda catch my drift? In non-RP posts... 1. If you are joking, let us know. There have been many circumstances in which a sarcastic remark or a joke missing a "j/k", ";)", "*G*" or "^_~" have led to misunderstandings. As for me, I tend to use ;) or ^.~. And I'm sarcastic quite a bit. See the difference between, "Oh c'mon, EVERYONE knows THAT!" and "Oh, c'mon, EVERYONY knows THAT >;)" ? We're speaking over the internet; making clear things that would be obvious if you were talking in person is pretty important, especially when people don't know you all that well =) 2. If you're replying to someone else's post, try to include the applicable part of their message. If you don't, we might not have any idea what you're talking about *G* But also, moderate yourself. Don't include an entire paragraph of a previous message if you are only replying to one point; cut that one point out =)
5. The Most Important Rule HAVE FUN! This is a Role-Playing GAME! We're here to post, laugh, and have FUN! =D People that are overly-serious about plots, and who don't appreciate non-RPG posts concerning pretty much nothing will have a hard time getting along in this game. That isn't to say we are complete goof-offs with silly plots; by all means, we have had EXCELLENT, DEEP, and INTELLIGENT plots! But we also joke around quite a bit and poke fun at eachother. Be ready for it when you arrive, and don't feel intimidated! You're joining in with a bunch of Aliroos, for cryin' out loud, expect more than a few off-topic remarks! =P
