Magic Types

Blood Magic - or Death Magic is the collection of the Life Energy released from an individual who has died suddenly. The greater the pain before death, as caused by torture and the like, the greater the amount of energy released. The energy can be collected and used in the same way as other magical sources. This method of gaining power is generally frowned upon, though it can be used by a Master or above.

Earth Magic - is the form of magic, which in and of itself combines both the Art as well as the Druid Art. Druid and Elemental Magic is used in unison to achieve the desired effect. It is also believed that traces of Energy Gathering, Energy Manipulation and The Way are used as well. Most forms of Earth Magic are passed down from mother to daughter or in rare cases father to son. However, there are a few schools which actually do teach this form of the Art.

Elemental Magic - This form of magic, though similar to energy manipulation deals with just the four primal forces of nature, Earth, Water, Fire and Wind. A user of this form of the Art can control the elements by two different means. One being the subjugation of the elemental beings known as Djinn's to the caster's will. The other form is the direct manipulation of the primal forces of the elements from Chaos. The later of the two requires a Mage class or higher to perform.

Energy Gathering - this form of the Art is the gathering of Ambient Energy from the area around the caster. It is usually only in small amounts but can go a long way in aiding a Master class or above caster, saving them from exhausting themselves. Through this means, a caster draws the energy in the area around them selves and stores it within to be used at for spell casting. Individuals will be able to gather different amounts of energy depending on what their capability is. Likewise, it is possible that they could find themselves in an area that has already been drained of most of it's ambient energy.

Energy Manipulation - This form of magic allows the caster to manipulate a source of magical energy, be it a magical pool, Leyline or Node, and draw from it energy for the purpose of their own spell work. It is possible for an individual who is strong enough in this field to actually pull the energy from another spell someone has cast or placed upon an object. Likewise a Master of this craft would be able to actually reach into the energy of a spell and manipulate it, thus changing the spell itself as well as the outcome of said spell. NOTE: There are various degrees of this ability and not all members of this teaching are equal in ability of the Art.

Higher Magic -The higher level spells require greater amounts of energy and concentration. The more complicated spells requiring repeating key phrases and gestures. Often these spells will require external preparation and on occasion an external supply of energy. Mostly the energy for these spells come from within the caster. Likewise, the spell will usually take longer to complete though it is hoped that the outcome is worth the extra effort.

Lesser Magic - such as Cantrips and minor spells. The lower level spells draw their power from the caster and usually involve hand gestures as well as words to focus the spell energies into the desired result.

Mind Magic - Mind magic is the development of special gifts such as Telepathy, Telekinesis, Clairvoyance, Empathy and other such as these. It is the use of the power of the mind to perform these actions. Yet in some cultures, those with these abilities have refined them to such a point, there is almost nothing they cannot do by means of them. It is interesting to note that "gifted" individuals may have more than one ability. Though there will be a single ability they are more prominent in. For instance, someone who is Telepathic may also be Empathic, and Telekinetic but not near as much as they are Telepathic.

Necromancy - This form of magic deals directly with Life Energy. It is the direct manipulation of the Life Energy within a being. This energy can also be used after the person has died to bring them back to a semblance of life. The Life Energy is released upon a creature's death and becomes part of the Ambient Energy of the area. A Necromancer can collect and harness this energy, storing it for later use or using it to bring life back to the recently departed. The stored energy can be used for a number of things including, but not limited to, healing, spells and animating the dead.

Rune Magic -This form of magic involves the placement of energy in the form of a spell into a rune or character sometimes called a glyph. The spell, once set, can be triggered any number of ways such as touching, timed, environment activation (such as someone using magic in a specific area will trigger the rune), as well as key words. Most often used for the guarding of places, with the rune being placed on a door or chest, it can be used for other purposes. It was rumored that the staff belonging to Sparrow Hawk, ArchAdept of Condor was covered with numerous glyphs, each containing a different stored spell.

Word & Will - Sometimes called "The Way" This form of magic is the use of one's will and energy, focused into a single word for an exact reaction, such as "Heal" for healing or "Fire" for flames. The amount of energy or will placed to the word determines the effect. It is interesting to note that the word itself is just a focal point for the caster's will and plays no real part in the spell itself. This means that a caster could wish to heal and use the word fire and still get the healing affect. This particular form of magic does follow the same ranking as the others in that the energy can come from within the caster or from an outside source.
