And as the Kryptonian and Lois land safely back in her veranda, she finds that here is the one person who can really sweep her off her feet. Keep her safe. Make her life wonderful. "We forgot to time ourselves," he smiles. "Oh well, maybe next time."
Lois just sighs happily as he puts her down. Then, as he turns to go; "You OK?"
"Uh-huh."
"Well, good night." And off he soars. "Oh --- good night!" she calls after him. Then, as she turns away, she thinks out loud: "What a super man." And that's when the name first dawns on her. "Superman...."
The dream is briefly interrupted by a few knocks on the door. "Lois!" It's Clark.
She finally gathers up enough willpower to answer the door. "Uh, hi. Can I come in?" She nods, he walks in.
"Lois, for goodness' sake, didn't you hear me knocking?" "Uh-huh," she replies.
"Lois, we did have a date tonight, remember?"
She tries to. But she is still momentarily lost in the thrill of her new hero, Superman.
"Lois, you haven't been, er.... hmm?" She shakes her head no. "Well, I should certainly hope not," says Clark. "Well, let's push off, shall we?"
"I better get a coat. It might be kinda cold ... No, I have to get my purse and I have to fix my hair .... put some blush on...."
As Lois goes in the back to ready herself, Clark removes his glasses. For a moment. He steels himself to try to admit that he, Clark Kent, is in fact that mysterious stranger who took the entire city by storm the other night. "Lois," he begins, "there's something I have to tell you. I'm really ---"
But just then, Lois emerges from the back, dolled up properly, it seems. Quickly Clark restores his glasses to their place on his nose. "I mean, I was really nervous about tonight, but I decided, well, darn it, I was gonna show you the time of your life!"
"That's clark, Nice," says Lois. As they lock her door, Clark --- make that Nice --- suggests they go out for a hamburger or whatever. Ah, young love!
