There have been many re-tellings of the legend of Robin Hood. By far, my favourite has been the Robin of Sherwood television series. The show blended so many wonderful elements together, history, myth, magic, sorcery, good and evil. The show only lasted 3 seasons, but it made a terrific contribution to the whole myth of Robin Hood.

Characters

Robin Hood (Micheal Praed)
Robin ofLoxely was the son of Ulrich, keeper of the Silver Arrow. Ailrich was killed by the Sherriff of Nottingham in order to gain possesion of the Arrow. Thus set into motion Robin's destiny to become the Hooded Man. (Loxely appeared in the first two seasons.)

Robin Hood (Jason Connery)
Robert of Huntingdon took over the duties of the Hooded Man when Robin of Loxely died (sigh) at the end of the second season. Son of a nobleman, Robert was tired of the injustice he saw daily. His life changed forever, the day Marion appeared at his fathers castle.

Marian of Leaford (Judi Trott)
Marian, daughter of a nobleman, had been under the protection of the Sheriff and his brother the Abbott when she first met Robin of Loxely. It was love at first sight for both of them. She married him shortly after that.

John Little (Clive Mantle)
"Little John" had been under the spell of an evil sorcerer and had been sent to face the Hooded Man in Sherwood Forest. Robin freed John of the spell and he became loyal to Robin thereafter.

Will Scathlocke (Ray Winstone)
Will, once a happily married man had his world turned upside down when mercenaries brutally murdered his wife. then changed his name to Scarlett. Will has always been the bully of the band, but his attitude is usually tempered by the balance of the group.

Friar Tuck (Phil Rose)
Tuck, once a chaplain for the Sheriff, became friends with Marian while she was under the care of the Abott. Probably excommunicated from the church, he works with the outlaws of Sherwood to help bring a little justice to the poor. Best known for his stout, and for his ability with a staff.

Much, the Miller's Son (Peter L. Williams)
Much and Robin grew up as foster brothers after the death of Robin's father. Later in life, when Robin, Much and Will escaped from the prision, Much ran to his parent's home where he witnessed their deaths at the hands of Guy of Gisbourn.

Nazir (Mark Ryan)
A Saracan of few words, noble actions, and deadly sword play. Once under service to the Count de Bellem, he competed in the famous archery contest against Robin for the prize of the Silver Arrow.

Sir Guy of Gisbourn (Robert Addie)
Gisbourne can at times be quite competant, others, far to arrogant for his own good. Then pair him up with the Sheriff, he's positivley bumbling. Late in the series we learn that he is the half brother of Robert of Huntingdon.

The Sheriff of Nottingham (Nickolas Grace)
The frustrated Sheriff. Can't win for trying. No matter how much he tries, he is still foiled by the wolvesheads in the forest.
