Yuu Watase's just completed manga series. The animated series premiered April 20, 2000. It is if anything even better a story than Fushigi Yuugi. The anime is doing well on Japanese TV and the rights to the English translation has been bought by Viz, both the manga and the anime.
Aya and Touya
Ayashi no Ceres is the story of Aya Mikage who discovered on her sixteenth birthday that she was the decendant of a lengendary being a tennyo named Ceres. This isn't a pleasant surprise and it turns her whole life upside down.

Chidori, another girl with the Ceres genenome who becomes friends with Aya and Yuuhi. She has a bit of a crush on Yuuhi. Although she looks like a child she is actually 16 like Aya and Yuuhi.
Alexander. Possibly gay, works for Kagami. Tends to be sympathic to Aya and Touya. Aids them against wishes of his employer Kagami.
Assam. One of the Mikage family assassins, a child from Indonesia. Uses his cute little boy looks to get close enough to his victims to kill them.
Weifei. Another Mikage family assassin. A skilled fighter, about Tooya's equal.
