Playing a Speed Demon
You were always obsessed with speed. From the time you were a
young street punk working for a Mafia-affiliated gang, you constantly searching
for an edge in your reflexes. At first you did designer drugs that gave you
a performance boost. Eventually you scraped together enough funds from your
petty rackets to buy some decent reflex enhancing cyberware. Your obsession,
and relatively good combat skills, brought you to the attention of a local boss
who brought you into the family as a bodyguard. At first, this was a dream come
true to you. Your new employer kept your cyberware up-to-date and even helped
you to acquire some bioware. You even ended your dependence on reflex enhancing
drugs. (Though you keep a stock with you, just in case you ever really need
a little more speed.) You were good at your job. The subtle jitter that your
cyberware produced was just enough to intimidate those your boss met with. Your
world fell apart when your boss ended up on the wrong side of an intra-Family
fight. After he was killed, you rapidly found that you had few allies left.
Fearing that you might be the next to get caught in the crossfire, you fled
to a new city to find a new life in the shadows.
You are an extremely jittery, very odd person. Your muscles seem
to constantly ripple with stray nerve misfires. Indeed, most people feel extremely
uncomfortable about working with you. The only thing that saves you is your
naturally charismatic nature which often allows you to defuse tension through
a well-placed joke. Despite this, most people do not like to spend much time
around you. You simply seem inhuman to most of them. Not that you mind all that
much, you are a bit of a loan wolf anyway. Besides that, your lack of humanity
also is a good tool for intimidation. Though you are fairly intelligent, your
reflexes are so hot that you tend to react to things without thinking. On some
level you are terrified of the fact that you really have lost control of yourself
to your raging nervous system. Yet at the same time your reflexes are a drug
to you, and you want more...
You will take any kind of job but tend to be suited for jobs that require quick actions such as wetwork. Most people do not trust you to be terribly silent about jobs (something about the nerves), so you tend to get very public flashy operations. Usually, your ability to kill by reflex also leads to a lot of collateral damage. However, you always get the job done, no matter what the opposition. (After all, you move 3 times as fast as the average security guard!)

Note: As I'm sure you can tell, this archetype is rather munchkinish and is maybe best suited as a contact. Indeed, when I started it with the question in mind, how fast could I make a starting character, I hadn't really meant to publish it. As I got to thinking about it, however, I started to realize that it might be a very interesting character for an experienced player to try. Thus, if you use it good luck! And don't say I didn't warn you.
