FIRST COMMANDMENT
This episode was a let down after Broca Divide. Though it did raise an interesting question and answered it. What happens if a team starts to think that they are gods? In this case, it’s a one man a SG team leader. This episode was worse than emancipation. I even went to sleep through a second viewing, and I didn't miss a thing.
The Plot
The plot revolves around Jonas, a leader of a SG team and ex-fiance of Sam’s, who now thinks he is a god. The locals, the planet's extremely high radiation, but his own team feed not only this paranoia as well. Sam tries to talk him out of his actions on to fail and put O'Neill in danger when he is caught trying to help a member of the other SG team. It is up to Daniel, Teal'c and a local Jamala to save the day and make the sky orange.
Gripes
Besides the usual.
1) If the Stargate is placed flat on the ground or very close to it, wouldn’t the wormhole have trouble forming?
Favourite Scene or Nice touches.
Sam telling Daniel about her engagement to Jonas and a bit of the history behind their relationship. I also like the fact Daniel comes to the realisation the that the crazier person is the more likely they are to get put on stressful missions. And Teal'c trying to smile.
Acting
Nothing wrong with the acting, but no one in the regular cast screamed brilliance at the same moment. Though Christopher Judge trying to do Teal'c first smile was funny. Jamala and Jonas, were very enjoyable in their portrayal of their respective characters.
Writer
Again nothing actually wrong with it, but Robert C. Cooper hasn't done nothing fantastic in it either. It dose have a few point out scenes, such as the camp. Daniel eating, Teal'c smiling. Basically it was used to try and explain how power can go to a person’s head, and to give Sam Carter more background.
