SINGULARITY

This episode is interesting and shows to what lengths the Goa'uld will go to destroy the SGC. And finally Amanda Tapping gets a script that utilises her talents. This one is a favourite of mine as a Sam and Daniel relationshipper. "I guess what I'm trying to say is that you don't have to go through this alone."

The Plot

SG-1 goes to Hanka where they are to see a singularity. In stead they come across the whole population of the neighbouring town and SG-7 dead, of a bacteria. While tagging the bodies of the dead they find a little girl. While Dr. Fraiser is checking the little girl she starts to develop a bond with Sam. The team and Fraiser decided that Jack and Teal'c will stay to finish researching the singularity with the new equipment. The rest of them will go back to earth and the SGC. Sam and the little girl bond even more when she won't let Sam leave to do work or have Daniel watch her. Dr. Fraiser finds out that there something very wrong with the girl's heart. During an operation to find out what's happening to Cassandra, they find out she has a bomb. Jack and Teal'c get caught bye a Goa'uld attack ship that is bombing the surface of Hanka. They escape just in time back to earth. With the news of what is wrong with Cassandra, they decided to take her a sub-basement, thirty levels below the ground. Sam takes her down but can not leave the little girl as she promised to stay with her. The bomb doesn't go off because the Stargate is the detonator. Cassandra will stay with Dr. Fraiser till the SGC finds the right family.

Gripes

1) Daniel's choice time to sneezing. This another convenient to have him sneeze in try to develop some tension, but all it does is make it irritating.

Favourite Scene or Nice touches.

Would be when Daniel offers his help to Sam in looking after Cassandra. Daniel excitingly slaps Teal'c on the leg when Sam is okay. But for once I will have to go with Jack trying to explain a singularity and then a black hole not only to Daniel, but Teal'c is great.

Acting

Did somebody call for a doctor? Sorry J Anyway the three Doctors have the most of the screen here, well more specially the two female doctors. Amanda Tapping finally gets a chance to play her character to her full potential with out some of the flaws of the previous tries. Tapping handles Sam extremely well as her the situation causes her more distress than it should and her Air Force armour breaks. I especially like when she tells Cassandra "you’re a brave girl," each time you get the feeling the more it was for herself than for the little girl. I love her in the elevator where privately she breaks down. Teryl Rothery plays Dr. Fraiser as concerned about the little girl, but as a doctor she hides the fact. Michael Shanks is great playing Daniel as supportive to Sam and in trying to help the little girl. He gives nice support to the ladies that seem to dominate the story. I especially like when excited that Sam is till alive he hits Teal'c. Christopher Judge who gives him that look as if to say what dose that mean. He and Richard Dean Anderson give great support in their roles, like when Richard Dean Anderson's O'Neill tries to explain a back hole to first Daniel and then Teal'c it was a hoot. Don S. Davis also gives nice support as General Hammond. Katie Stuart, who plays Cassandra, was very versatile and did a great job of portraying this little girl who has lost her family and is afraid of losing her new friend and only person on this world that she really trusts.

Writer

Robert C. Cooper has written a very strong script, which shows just how far the Goa'uld will go to destroy the SGC. Though Daniel's sneezing was so out of character and used as a gimmick in Broca Divide. Either have him sneezing all the time, this selective sneezing is horrible. But all in all a great script.

7 Cassandras out of 10 Stargate Bombs

"Sometimes I forget you're not military." Sam to Daniel.
