Vuln
© 1998, C. Simons

A small town, about 1300 people. Farms surround the town for about a mile on all sides. The town was built off of the trade route and the fact that this became an area known for the number of travelers that would rest here. The town is quickly growing, and commerce is picking up.

"As you exit the forest, you give thanks to the gods that you made it through the forest. You look around, and see farmland and cattle for a great distance, and off on the horizon, the town of Vuln."

The party is facing south with a clear view of the buildings as they near them. Many farms dot the road, this is known as the Forest Road. The town has no walls, most buildings are sawed timber houses, no more than two stories, and a rare few are stone. The Vulnese are open to strangers and welcome them with smiles, but are always careful.

The town is ruled by a town council of 1 person for every 100, and grows depending upon population. There is no leader, and they take their cue from the citizens. Very informal and user-friendly government. Many seek to overtake it. The have a citizen militia led and taught by the priests of the church of Torm. Most townsfolk own bows and some have leather armor, they fight as 1st level fighters and are very organized. Don't cross them.

You must also beware the town's secret weapon, Mervin the Bard. It is all an act. He is actually a bright mage, who decided to retire some 2 years ago when this town was half of this size. He is always diguised when fighting and casting. He moves around, staying in the various inns and watches the goings of the town from a definite vantage point. I will not say just where his real house is, just in case the snooping players happen to find this....

These are the 4 lead priests of Vuln. They are an everyday part of the townsfolks' everyday lives. Tomira, Darberg, and Woody all run their respective temples, and Alanah is responsible for the growth of Selune in this region, while maintaining the town's shrine. She also takes care of 2 other shrines, so she is away 4 days a week. Alanah is currently working to gather enough support to construct a temple.
