Snowflakes( A Poem for the Dead)

 Why do they come? Drifting,

falling in downward flight.

To some they are welcome,

as they fall to earth tonight.

The whiteness has turned to grey, the sky was blue.

"What might he say?" Someone would ask you.

And now all is dark, "for was it right?"

I have heard the meadowlark cry out in the night,

"Was it his time to die? And soon shall I?"

Life goes on thru the days,

he no longer walks by my side,

as we wander through the fields of hay.

This brother of mine took a ride

to the worlds above the ground.

In the time of night one might look around

and see that he was right. The world weeps

for another babe has been taken,

before he had a chance to awaken,

in his time of sleep.

Before the coming of light, Death leaves

and I shall weep. For his job is done tonight,

and in the eve He shall come again when all sleep.

Peace be with you brother of mine.

You venture to a world of new

where you will remember the time of nine.

"Weep not for me." Says He.

" Remember what it is to be."
