"...Its Hour Come Round At Last" - Episode # 122
(spoilers below!) (Click here for review)Written By: Robert Hewitt Wolfe     Directed By: Allan Eastman
Beka puts symbols on a chart to celebrate the 5th and 6th planets to sign the Commonwealth charter ( Schopenhauer and Enkindu). She is uncharacteristically optimistic about their mission, while Dylan is surprisingly pessimistic, feeling 6 planets are nothing compared to the previous million members.
Elsewhere, Harper repairs Andromeda and while jacked in to the virtual reality AI view finds a backup copy which accidentally overwrites the current AI. This version pushes Harper out, finds intruders, sounds an alert and traps everyone in their rooms, with the exception of Trance who on the bridge is forced to become the slipstream pilot.
Tyr by forcing open doors gets to Dylan and Beka who do not want to use the escape pods as he suggests. Fighting the internal defenses they hear the AI begin procedures to vent their air into space, but Harper overrides it.
The AI's computer and hologram selves are confused about the absence of Capt. Perrim (a Perseid commander Dylan has heard of) and her crew, but refuses to either believe Rommie's explanations or tell her the details of her "mission". The AI also refuses to believe Trance's claim that Rev Bem (in Hydroponics fighting internal defenses) is an ally, or that three hundred years have passed.
Harper initiates a diagnostic that shuts down internal defenses for three hours and Tyr, Beka, Dylan and Rommie are able to meet in Med Bay. They discover that a backup copy of the Rommie was loaded in and is engaged in a mission that was wiped from Rommie's mind. However, the ship soon comes under attack by Magog swarm ships and as the hull is breached Dylan sends Tyr to Harper and Rommie after Rev.
Tyr finds Harper terrified at drum like beatings and chants from the Magog. Tyr convinces him to fight the Magog and head toward a reactor core, where Harper can access the AI without interference. Beka and Dylan arm themselves and face the Magog, who seriously injure Dylan as they travel to the bridge, where Trance is ordered to head for the final destination. Meanwhile, Rev is fighting off other Magog, much to the shock of their leader Bloodmist (Gerard Plunkett) who thinks he is a fool to follow the Way, but Bloodmist is tossed aside by Rommie.
Once at the core Harper jacks in and finds the AI's mission logs protected by an Argosy level 7 encryption. He calls Dylan, who provides his old code from when he was a Lt. Commander in Special Ops. Harper then views the logs and sees Capt. Perrim and the crew massacred by invading Magog. Harper begins the reintegration of Rommie's memories, and as the Magog enter the area he and Tyr escape. Later, trapped he resists the temptation to be shot with Tyr's final round (to avoid infestation) and takes a knife from a proud Tyr, fighting the Magog until overwhelmed.
Dylan and Beka have made it to the Command deck and are slowly burning their way in with a force lance. Beka reluctantly promises to continue the mission to restore the Commonwealth if Dylan dies. Meanwhile, Bloodmist is calling via ultrasonics to Rev and when Rommie tunes in she hears the Magog were not created by the Divine.
On the command deck the AI remembers the old mission but still insists on a transit. Beka breaks in and Dylan asks for a report, which the AI (encouraged by her hologram self) provides. They view a structure of 20 connected worlds around a sun or energy core which the AI had last seen in another galaxy and reports holds trillions of Magog.
As they fight the Magog Rommie is harpooned to a wall and Bloodmist shoots Rev, who when he later awakens ignores Rommie's pleas, drops his Way medallion and leaves. Later Harper and Tyr are brought before Bloodmist and there is also an appearance by a strange humanoid shaped energy being which the Magog all seem to worship.
Soon the crew's fate is sealed as more swarm ships attack and when the Magog structure fires a point singularity that burst through the ship and causes an explosion knocking out all on the command deck. The episode ends with Andromeda calling code red, officers down. To Be Continued...
