Nearly four years before the classic Lost in Space TV series premiered on CBS in September 1965, Gold Key Comics had introduced their own version of a "Swiss Family Robinson in Space" in Space Family Robinson. Due to a peculiar set of legal circumstances, Gold Key was permitted to apply the Lost in Space title to the cover of their publication, which avoided a costly lawsuit for the principals involved, but inadvertently caused endless confusion to subsequent generations of fans about this other Robinson family. Here you can read the whole story of how this came about, and catch a nostalgic glimpse of the adventures of the first Space Family Robinson.
