Ok guys I know you've all been waiting patiently for the rules. Right now I'm going to give you the basics of the rules. I want everyone to start trying this out before I put up the entire rules so that I can get feedback on the most basics of the system. And please keep in mind that the duel will run much smother if both duelists have their decks either posted in the group or up on the site. I'll be updating the site soon.
Firstly you need to challenge someone using Messenger. Do this in a friendly way.
Now, the only way I know of to simulate the randomness of a shuffled deck is to use a shuffled deck. Place your dueling mat in front of you (or at least near enough so that you don't have to get up to reach it). The setup is like a normal game, except for one thing: the positions of your Monster and Magic/Trap cards have individual names.
Please note that the following looks best with HTML formatting.
Your Mat normally looks like this:
Now you will have simplified names:

Now, once you and your opponent are ready, duel as you normally would. Announce your move clearly and if you err as to the location of a card, correct it in messenger. All normal rules apply (including restrictions on cards in your deck).
You should try to keep track of both your and your opponent's life points. This is not a rule, merely a suggestion.
You or your opponent may inquire at any time asking for the location of a card, what cards they can see on the Field, how many cards are in the opponents Hand, current Life Point standings (if you lose or are not keeping track), what the results of modifications to cards are, or what cards are in the Graveyard.
Once the duel is concluded (by win, forfeiture, or mutual agreement), post a transcript of the duel (if at all possible). Include feedback as to your thoughts on both the duel and the system. Once I get enough feedback, I'll be posting the complete dueling rules. The complete rules include the use of a Game Master and the Yahoo Messenger Conference feature.
