Spider-man-445
Wheels turning...
By Ralph L. Angelo Jr.
Peter Parker Stares at his sleeping wife and child. Mary Jane and May mean the world to him, and he knows he’d do anything to protect them both. Pete leans over and kisses them both gently on the forehead, and then climbs out of bed and tip toes down the stairs to his kitchen, as he opens the fridge and takes out a carton of milk, he grabs a bottle of chocolate syrup, and then sits down at the kitchen table. Pete pours himself some milk and adds the syrup to it, smiling like a five year old with his tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth.
“Hogging it all for yourself, handsome?”
Pete turns towards the sound of Mary Janes voice, and returns her grin, as she walks over in her nightgown and sits beside him.
“How are you feeling? That nasty headache gone?”* She asks while she kisses him on his head.
*Last issue, Pete took a beating from the Scorpion before defeating the villain.
“Headaches gone, but I’m sore. After all, it was only a few hours ago that I got home and plopped in the bed**. *Yawn.* How are you feeling? I know you said he didn’t hurt you, but I don’t believe you , you know that, right, gorgeous?” He hugs MJ as he talks.
**Again last ish!
“I know , I know.” She replies while he begins to tickle her playfully. “Pe-TER! STOP it!” She squirms.
“Haha!” Pete laughs , “Make me, tough girl!”
“You watch yourself Mr Super-Hero, I’ll bop you in the head with a frying pan, and we’ll see how super you are then!” She giggles as she struggles to escape his playful tickling.
“Oh threats, I love that from a bad guy, or your case girl.”
“Girl? Is that all I am to you, Parker? Just a girl?”
“Okay MJ, just excuse me, I know you are all Woman!”
“And you better Petey-Boy! Don’t make me remind you again!”
“Hahaha!” Pete laughs
“Peter, quiet, the baby! Remember? We’ll wake little May.”
“Okay, okay. I’ll calm down.” The he suddenly reaches over and lays a raspberry on her cheek.
Braaat!
“I am so going to kick your scrawny butt, Parker!” She giggles again as she tries to tickle him.
They laugh and play another ten minutes, then slowly calm down as they turn on the small counter top TV in the kitchen.
Then both stare in disbelief!
“Oh man, I do NOT believe this!”
On the screen before them both, The Shocker is blasting away at one of the bridge pylons for the 59th street bridge. Then he speaks for the camera!
“I want Spider-Man! I owe him, and if he doesn’t show up here, This bridge goes down, and there’s nothing any of you blue shirt jerks can do to stop me!”
“Peter, let someone else handle this. There are ton of heroes who can take this loser down.” Mary Jane worriedly whispers as she mutes the TV.
“MJ, it’s not like that. He’s mine. My bad guy. It’s sort of an unspoken rule in hero circles. When one of yours comes back, and if you’re around, you HAVE to go take him down. Only if you’re out of town does anyone else get involved.”
“Well how does anyone know you’re not out of town? You mean to tell me the Fantastic Four aren’t around to handle this? They’re just going to ignore him?”
“Mary Jane, I don’t know where the FF is, or if they’re even in this dimension, let alone on the planet.”
“Now you’re getting really out there. ‘In this dimension?’ ‘On the planet?’ What are you talking about?”
“Groan. MJ, there are things that happen that you really have no clue about. It’s just the way things are. Sorry babe, but I gotta go take this nutcase out.”
He leans over and kisses her deeply and passionately, then gets up to go.
“You’ll be careful?”
“You know it, red.” He winks as he leaps up the staircase and in less then 30 seconds is sailing through the sky light in their bedroom, into the trees in the yard, to disappear into the night on gossamer thin strands of webbing, speedily swinging towards the 59th street bridge.
‘The Shocker. I hate this guy. Talk about your annoying second rate baddies! The guys battle suit is a freakin’ quilt!’ Spider-Man thinks to himself as he swings towards the bridge.
Lights cover the bridge where the Shocker is, turning night into day. Police fire guns at him, but they merely bounce off his costumes vibratory shield, then every so often he turns towards the Police and fires back, shattering pavement, cars, and just sending them flying.
“I want Spider-Man! Send me that freak, or this bridge goes into the water!” The yellow suited super villain shouts as he hammers the pylon again, and just enough to send it shaking right up to the bridge above.
“Hey mattress head? You called?”
The Shocker turns towards the taunting voice, in time to get kicked in the head by a swinging super hero named SPIDER-MAN!
THOOM!
“Unngh! Nice shot Hero!, I ALMOST felt it! See if you feel this?” As he speaks, the Shocker fires his vibratory blasts at Spidey, who leaps and flips out of the way, but the Shocker follows him, as Spidey runs along a buildings side, then leaps to another, all the while being pursued by the shockers vibro blasts!
“Keep running Spider-jerk! Sooner or later I’ll get you.”
Suddenly Spidey, flips backwards, over the Shockers beam, and backtracks towards him, momentarily making the Shocker lose his rhythm !
“Hey Herman! Shock THIS! “
Spidey sprays webbing at the Shockers face, covering him from head to chest in a blanket of webbing.
“Time to wrap this up Shockey! “ Spidey bounces towards the Shocker, and unloads a powerful right haymaker in mid leap!
KROOM!
The Shocker is thrown backwards, as Spider-Man leaps to a buildings side, adding more webbing to the Shocker!
Then suddenly a deep vibratory hum is heard, and the street shakes all around him, as Spidey drops off the wall to land lightly in a crouch.
“Uh oh.” He whispers.
Suddenly the Shocker bursts free, shattering the webbing, and sending it flying in every direction!
“You never learn, do you web head? How may times do I have to break free of your stupid webbing before you realize it won’t hold me?”
“Oh about as many times as it takes for you to realize that I always win, and you always lose when we bang heads.”
“Yeah? Then bang THIS Spider-Dork!”
He fires Vibro blasts directly at Spidey, who leaps up, but then the Shocker fires above Spidey’s head, instead of trying to track him! Instantly bricks blast out of the wall, and rain down on Spidey from five stories above his head!
“Aarrgghhh!” Spidey yowls as he tries to cover hie head and get out of the way of the avalanche of bricks.
“Ha! Gotcha!” Shocker shouts jubilantly as he suddenly aims and fires, blasting Spidey off his feet, and vibrating every filling in Spidey’s head!
Vrrooom!
Spidey flip flops out of control, and is hammered like a bag of flour as the Shocker mercilessly pours on the juice, smashing Spider-man backwards and through a wall!
“Oooff” Spidey moans as he pushes his way out of the tons of brick and mortar that lie on top of him. “THAT hurt!”
Suddenly the wall shreds again, as the Shocker blasts another hole in it and steps through. “You think that hurt, web head? You haven’t begun to feel pain!”
He fires again, above them both, in an arc, shredding the ceiling , then he turns to the floor beneath Spidey, and shatters the old wooden flooring, causing it all to tumble away beneath the webslinger, tumbling him into the darkness!
Then exiting the building, ignoring the Police as they fire their weapons at him uselessly, the Shocker systematically levels the building , one floor after another, until nothing but a pile of rubble stands where the apartment building once was.
“HA! Lets seeya get out of that, web head!” The Shocker taunts as he then circles the rubble, blasting at the ground, dumping the whole pile of rubble that was once an apartment building into the bay, and then the explosions start!
Ba-BOOM! BRROOOM! Ba Da DOOOOM!
Ruptured gas lines from the shattered building spark and ignite, showering the sky with debris, causing panic, as everyone flees, all the while the Shocker stands and laughs as his vibratory field and heavy costume shield him from it all, and then he disappears into the night, laughing merrily.
The Kingpins lair...
Wilson Fisk smiles as he watches the live broadcast. Even at 3 am, seeing Spider-man destroyed is well worth the late hour.
There is a knock at Kingpins office door, he turns and sees a burly man in a suit standing there . “Come in, Jackson. Do you have him?”
“Right here Mr. Fisk. Cornelius “Cornrows” Collins.” Jackson pushes the young punk we’ve seen before into the room.* The youth stumbles and catches himself, shooting Jackson a hard look over his shoulder.
*Issue 442
“Welcome my boy, welcome. Sit down” Fisk begins, beckoning to a chair on the other side of his desk.
“Watchu want, Mister Fisk? I done what you said to, I bring you money from those shop owners. Least ways till Spider-Jerk got me arrested.”
“That’s what I want to talk to you about, m’boy. How would you like some real power. Power to make sure no one can ever do to you what Spider- Man did again? What do you say to that Cornrows?”
“Spider-man won’t be able to stop me?”
“No one will, Cornrows. When my scientists are done with you, You’ll be unstoppable.”
“Then bring it on, Fatman!”
Whack!
Fisks hand moves with incredible speed, backhanding the tough talking punk backwards out of his chair so quickly the thug could not even react. He ends up on the floor , barely conscious.
“First boy, learn respect for your betters. If you ever want to grow to be a man that is. You have failed me in the past, Cornrows. Spider-Man stopped you, now that entire block no longer pays me my due. That is not Spider-mans fault, Cornrows, it is yours. I will make sure you will never be able to fail me again.”
He beckons back towards Jackson who has been standing by the door. Jackson walks up, grabs the groggy street punk by the collar and drags him out of Fisks office.
“When you awaken, young man, you will a completely different individual. But you will STILL answer to me.”
Then Fisk turns back to the TV, as chaos reigns near the 59th street bridge!
And back in Queens, a young mother and wife shakes fearfully, as she watches the mayhem where her husband disappeared scant minutes earlier, and she is very, very afraid!
