Peter Parker was once a normal high school student. He was introverted and shy. A bookworm by all accounts, who never excelled at sports or anything remotely physical, he was considered nerdy by most of his peers, Peter led a quiet life of studying and inquisitiveness with his loving Aunt and Uncle.
But that was before he was bitten by the radioactive spider
YAt that moment his entire life changed, In an eye blink he became one of the most agile, powerful men on the face of the earth! Able to crawl walls as easily as you or I could take a stroll down the street. Able to lift 5 Cadillac
=s stacked up over his head at once, with a reaction time 15 times faster then the greatest athlete and a danger warning >Spider-sense= to aid him from unseen threats, Peter Parker has gone on through the years since forging a legacy of greatness that awes many to this day! A hero loved, hated or feared by many, Peter Parker is now and forever,The Amazing Spider-Man!
Spider-Man #446
By Ralph L. Angelo Jr.
Mary Jane Watson-Parker stares in horror at the TV screen before her. She has remained transfixed that way for the past two hours. Sunlight has begun to filter into her kitchen window, but she doesn
=t notice. Only one thing goes through the mind of the gorgeous red head who sits in almost abject horror staring at her TV set.A
Peter can=t be dead, he can=t be.@ She mumbles over and over. Yet the past two hours have increasingly proven her wrong...Suddenly a crash is heard from upstairs and Mary Jane scrambles towards the stair case
AMay!@ She shouts aloud, concerned about her infant daughter. But when she enters her bedroom, the scene that greets her is entirely different then she originally figured on.
Lying on her bed, soaking wet and unconscious, mask in hand is her husband, Peter Parker, the amazing Spider- Man!
Mary Jane runs over and hugs his sleeping form, he stirs and holds her momentarily then slides back into unconscious sleep. MJ kisses him lightly on the head and closes the window he left open.
A
I guess my questions=ll have to wait, tiger.@ She almost whispers, as she shuts the bedroom door behind herself, and makes her way down stairs to shut the TV.But in his sleeping mind, Peter Parker is already reliving the past two hours, in a vivid recollection of determination mixed with terror!
A
I was in that abandoned house.@ His inner voice speaks aloud. AStanding there battling the Shocker. The Shocker did this to me? He=s just about the lamest villain I have. He pushed the house into the river, using his vibro shock devices to turn it to powder around me. But before he did, I made a web ball around myself with every cartridge of web fluid I could fire. The house, or what was left of it tumbled into the greasy , murky water, and I was instantly buried under fifty tons of steel, brick and mortar at the bottom of the river. The web bubble was six feet around, not a lot of room but enough fresh air to last me more then a few minutes. But I knew the minute I ripped free of it, I=d have to get out of there, or drown. So I tested the surface of the web ball, and it was solid all the way around. It didn=t give at all. Which meant it was being pressed down on from all the way around it. I sat back down and thought for a minute, and realized that I didn=t have a heck of a lotta time to get free, so I had to make my move soon. But what was that move going to be? That was the question. So I finally just went for it. I knew I=d have no other choice. I=m sure someone would be looking for me, but I knew I didn=t have a heck of a lot of time left, and I=d never last before they got to me. So I braced myself against the inside of the web ball and began to tear through it. As soon as I did, the water rushed in., now I was going to drown. So I began to push with all my might, but nothing moved. I was buried deep. And that=s when I began to here the voices.@ AThe voices along with seeing the faces. Mary Jane was there, with little May in her arms. Both were calling for me to break free, to come back to them. Then they faded and I saw old friends like Flash Thompson, who was alternately calling me a wuss and practically begging me to break free. Then he faded and I saw her. Gwendolyn Stacey. The first true love of my life. They say the first love is the one you never forget. They (Whoever they are.) Is right. Gwendy was my dream girl before I met MJ. And by the time I did meet MJ, Gwendy and I were already dating. But at that time, I only had eyes for her. I loved Gwen like I thought I could love no one else, yet after she died I discovered how much I loved MJ, and that=s a love that could never be measured.@ ABut there she was in my minds eye, pleading with me to get out, to get free, to come back to her. >But you=re dead Gwen= I remember saying aloud as water continued to pour into my ravaged web bubble. And then she said something strange >Only if you forget me.= >I=ll never do that Gwen, no matter what, I promise to never forget you.= I remember saying aloud. Then she said >Good, now get yourself out of there, and get back to MJ and your baby.= Then she faded from sight too.To be replaced by Doc Ock, my worst enemy alive. He leered at me from behind horn rimmed glasses, as his four monstrous tentacles slashed through the air all around me.
> You=re a coward , Parker, a coward and a fool. You have no chance to get out of here. You=re going to die with the taste of this filthy river water in your mouth, in your belly, and you=re going to die alone, you useless twit. And when you=re dead and rotting me and my ilk will say a toast to the Amusing Spider-fool=I remember gritting my teeth and grunting
> Go to hell, Ock!= as I threw debris upwards, away from my torn shelter. I had finally made some sort of head way, as my herculean effort paid off, ever so slightly, but stuff did move. Then I heard a low laughing, and I turned my head to see the Green Goblin chuckling to himself as he sit on a pile of rubble.
A
Ah Parker, you=re still such a loser, even after all these years, nothing ever changes. I kill your little slut, and you blame yourself. A loser like the Shocker even gets the better of you nowadays. At least in my day you were tough.@I look up from my spot under the tons of rubble as water fills all around me slowly, and sneer at Osbourne under my mask.
AYou=re not going to get to me, Norman, not now, not ever again. You=re dead. You are nothing but a bitter memory.@AWho said I was Norman? Hahahahaaa! Gotcha, Petey ol= boy!@ and then he fades from sight.
It was Harry. Poor Harry. Driven insane by his fathers nonsense and formula
=s. He was the best friend I ever had, besides MJ, and his father claimed him as well. Another mark on Norman Osbournes chalk board of death. His own son. But at least Harry came to his senses at the end. He redeemed himself. That=s something insane Norman could never say.AYou are such a fool Petey-boy, but we like you anyway. We really want to eat your brains , we like you that much. Maybe we=ll eat your wifeys brains instead. And your baby girls. Yum, Baby brains.@
I turned towards the voice, knowing EXACTLY what twisted wacko it was before seeing his leering black masked face.
Venom.
AGo away Brock. You=re crazier then ever. Besides, you always lose. No matter who beats your thick alien covered head in, you always lose.@ AYeah Parker? Maybe so, but who=s gonna protect your wife and kid if you=re not around?@And then he fades from view, the echo of his laughter fading in my ears. And he
=s right. If I don=t get out of here, chances are someone who knows my secret will go after MJ and May. Someone so twisted and insane that they=d kill a helpless child and woman. Damn, that=s most of my enemies. I have to get out of here. I push, harder then I=ve ever pushed before, groaning in pain as I feel the weight above me shift some more. But how can I move this? It=s so damned heavy? It=s beyond me, way beyond me. I HAVE to get out of here! I have to get back to MJ. But this is like something only like the Thing could lift, not me! AYeah but you ain=t me ya wimp!@I turn back to the side and The ever lovin
= blue eyed Thing is standing there smoking a cigar, shaking his head in disgust. AYer a punk, Web head. Always have been, always will be. But yer one of the guys we all like, so it=s okay. But lemme ask ya something , squirt. Would I give up in yer shoes? Have I ever given up even when I was goin= toe ta toe wit the Hulk? Heck Did I ever give up goin= toe ta toe wit Galactus? So don=t cry ta me about a little weight on yer shoulders. Prove me wrong geek. Get outta this junk.@And then he
=s gone. Damn this is heavy. I feel like the weight of the world is on my back, and the water is up to my waist now. How deep am I anyway? And why is the water coming in so slow? There must be an air pocket in the debris I=m in. C=mon Parker, to many people are counting on you. Push man push , P-U-S-H!There
=s a slight movement above me as I feel the tons of broken, shattered building begin to move again, and I ease off a second trying to catch my breath, as the water is almost to my chest now. AYou=ll never get out of here, Spider-Man. I=ll make sure of it. You have no chance, give up now. Let yourself die. You=re a fool and a waste of flesh, but dead flesh is what Vultures survive on!@ AGet out of here, Toomes.@ I shout back at the winged apparition before me, who flies around the room before my fevered eyes. AYou=re an old fool and always have been.@ ACall me what you will you skinny punk, but I=ll still be alive when this is all over. To bad you can=t say the same. I=ll make sure to give my regards to your family, hahahaha!@ AI=ll kill you, you old buzzard!@ I shout as I strain harder then I ever have against the weight above me, and it moves again, amazingly. AYou=ll have to catch me first, Spider- Man, and you can=t do that from in here, now can you. See you in hell Spider-loser!@ and he disappears. And I
=m still trapped here, and running out of time and breath.
And then it happened. I saw the one person I NEVER expected to see again, and her image was crisper, brighter, yet somehow more shadowed. Almost in black and white, and bright color at the same time.
APeter.@ she moaned . AWhy have you forgotten me? Why haven=t you come to save me? Especially if you=re Spider-Man? Where are you Peter? Only you can save me. Only you.@And then she faded away, like all the others, into the mist. But one thing is certain, she was real. Somehow my fevered mind saw her. After a long, long time I saw her alive and well, and that was enough to push me beyond anything I
=ve ever done before.I groaned while I lifted upwards with a strength and ferocity I never thought was in me, roaring in agony as my entire body, my entire being was focussed on one thing and one thing only! Getting the HELL out of here!
A
RRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH@Suddenly it all moved, it all exploded away from me as I pushed like never before! Every inch of my entire body screamed in agony as I moved more tons of debris then a whole fleet of bulldozers!!!
Water was all around me, but I was free. I pushed my already sore body to its limits and beyond, as I swam out of that would be watery grave that the Shocker put me in. But he couldn
=t stop me. He couldn=t kill me, and he=s going to pay for what he did to me this time. I=m going to kick his padded yellow butt up and down Broadway... But first I have to get some rest.>And that brought me to here. I awaken from my trouble sleep to find MJ and the baby standing over me smiling. It=s getting dark out, I know I=ve been asleep at least 12 hours, and then I sit down and have dinner with them both, and tell MJ everything that happened to me last night.=
A
Tiger, who was the woman you saw? Gwen? AA
You wouldn=t believe me if I told you, MJ.@A
Well are you going to tell me, or just leave me guessing? C=mon sexy don=t keep your supermodel wife waiting.@>
She reaches over and playfully tickles me, but I can=t enjoy it, I=m still aching, and her tickles hurt more then anything. By now it=s 10 PM and the news comes on, I sit back as a story catches my eye, and makes them both widen in surprise.=The news anchor begins:
AAnd today New York city celebrates the return of one of its tarnished sons. Wilson Fisk, once allegedly known as the Kingpin of crime has returned to the city after some time away. Fisk has pledged millions to the cities poor and underprivileged as well as neighborhood hospitals from his personal fortune. His businesses include WFSK radio as well as the new Cable only New York station of the same call letters. Here is Mr Fisk at the ribbon cutting today to WFSK=s TV studios.@My face goes blank, and MJ sees this.
A
What is it, Peter?@A
The Kingpin is back, and this is to much coincidence. He thinks I=m dead. He thinks Spider-Man is dead, and that=s why he showed himself in public.@A
But I don=t understand, Peter, what do you mean?@A
He=s thinking Spider-Man is gone, so now he resurfaces, as a >distinguished business man.= MJ, he=s been behind all these attacks on me lately, it all fits. He=s been running me through a gauntlet, tiring me out. He=s been sending all these guys against me, one after another. But now he thinks I=m dead. I have the upper hand here, and he doesn=t even know it. Time to start planning.@A
Wow! You=re actually going to look before you leap for once? That=s a change Hubby.@A
Hey can=t I disappoint my countless fans by actually thinking once in a while, Red?@Mary Jane walks over and hugs Peter tightly.
AOne thing I need to know , Tiger, is who did you see in your dream? Who was it?@Peter sighs and slumps in his chair.
AIt was Aunt May, Mary Jane. I saw Aunt May. It couldn=t have been real, could it? I mean there=s no way she can really be alive yet, is there?@And Mary Jane Watson-Parker can only stare silently in shock and disbelief. She has no answer for her husband, but a knot clenches her stomach ever tighter...
