Planet of Origin Trhvh' el al He'
Quadrant Alpha (Vacated Cardassian area of space)
Background The Trhvh were conquered by the Cardassians soon after the latter began their territorial expansion.  Being a passive race, the Trhvh immediatley laid down their arms and welcomed the Cardassians with open arms.  That welcome soon turned sour when their planet was stripped of natural resources and the Trhvh thrown under the brutal yoke of the Cardassian Empire.  The Trhvh did not know what to do.  Their planet had not seen war in three thousand years.  They had a large fleet of starships, but it was mainly used for commerce and exploration, not war.  The different Prides joined forces and appointed a High Alpha to lead them.  Their inexperience in war soon proved fatal as the alliance was broken and the High Alpha executed.

Gul Toran, the Prefect of Trhvh' el al He', began mass executions and seventeen of the ninety-seven Prides were wiped out.  For years the Trhvh starved and suffered under Cardassian rule until the Dominion came.  The Trhvh, while not warlike, are extremely gifted engineers.  The Dominion used these gifts to further their own plans of galactic expansion by using the Trhvh to build ships.  All Trhvh who helped build a Dominion warship were given a large home, protection for their families, and plenty of food.  The Trhvh who didn't, well let's just say they were not so fortunate.  So, for a people who had never experienced war, giving in to the Dominion's offers were easy.  Things began to change when the Dominion began to lose the war and conditions became more harsh for the workers.

Finally, freedom, or so it seemed, came in the form of Romulan Warbirds.  The Romulans, believing that the Trhvh were loyal subjects of the Dominion, were about ready to wipe the race off the surface of the planet when Federation negotiators learned the true plight of the Trhvh and were able to calm the Romulans.  Not long thereafter, the planet was being rebuilt and the Trhvh were building ships for the Romulans as a sign of thanks to the liberators.  The Romulans in turn helped the largest Prides unite Trhvh el al He'.

Editors Notes Trhvh society is broken down into S'ala or Prides, with every member of a pride descended from one man.  When a woman marries, she becomes a part of her husband's Pride.  Trhvh never take more than one mate throughout their entire life, and once they are mated to that person they are linked somewhat telepathically.  They cannot read each others' thoughts, but they can sense strong emotions and when a Trhvh's mate dies, it is as if a whole half of them die as well.

Children are highly regarded and from youth they are schooled to be engineers.  Engineering is not the only subject though, students are encouraged to pursue any interest they want, except for war.

The government is a composed of a legislative body and executive/judical body.  The legislative body is the Trhvh Mna' hal en Tre's or People's Grand Assembly.  Members of the Assembly are known as Khai' en lal or Deputies, and one Deputy represents every one hundred people in each Pride.  The leader of the Assembly is the S'ora' en Tre's or Alpha of the Assembly.  The Assembly proposes legislature, votes on it, and a 75% vote or more passes the law.  The Alpha may veto or pass the bill, if passed it goes to the Mna' hor S'ora' Gar or High Alpha Seat.  The Seat is comprised of the High Alpha and ten Mna' hak S'er or Archdukes.  The Seat may veto the bill or pass it.  They also are the chief judicial body on the world.  Each Deputy is chosen by the people he/she will represent.  The High Alpha is chosen by the Alphas of the various Prides and the High Alpha appoints the Archdukes.

Each Pride is governed by an Alpha who is chosen by the people and he appoints two S'er or Dukes to advise him and make sure his orders are carried out.  In order to make sure that they are never again enslaved, the Alphas have agreed to build a small fleet of powerful ships.  Membership in the defense fleet is voluntary.  A popular vote is taken to determine if military action should be used should the need arise.  90% of the population must pass that vote.  The only crimes punishable by death is the murder of a child or preaching war.
