Background | For the past century they have enjoyed peace, except for a nomadic clan called the Gatherers who have become interstellar raiders. The Enterprise-D successfully ended the last conflict between clans by preventing the final survivor of the Trelesta clan from murdering the last of the rival Lornak clan. Both the Gatherers and Acamarians are now forging a unified government. |
Editors Notes | The Acamarians have strongly divided clan structures and membership in one is of extreme social and political importance. Though not UFP Members, an Ambassador is present and thought to be urging the Acamarians toward joining if a unified government can be established. |
History | Acamar's first contact with 'extraplanetary'
visitors
came in the early 2220's when an Orion vessel noted the extensive
mineral
deposits on the planet. The Orions first made great promises of
friendship,
and offered to share technology with the Acamarians for the rights to
mine
some of the minerals. When the Clan leaders realized that the
Orion
mining was destroying the planet's environment they began to forge
unions
to drive the 'invaders' away. The Orions spent 3 years trying to
re-take the planet by force, but the Acamarians proved to be dedicated
to maintaining their independance.
With the Orions gone, the clans turned against each other in a time referred to as the 'clan wars'. It resulted in roughly 1/4 of the planet's population being killed in the fighting due to plague weapons. The wars ended when 2 of the most powerful clans, the Shovran and Nalithas mutually destroyed each other in a massive cataclysm. The result created a vast wasteland where they once were. The remaining clans came together to resolve their differences and in 2266 formed a council. The time came to be known as 'the Reconciliation'. |
