Background | Approximately 2025 the Ba'ku
began a period of rapid and uncontrolled technological advancement, and
nearly destryed themselves. One group, fearing a global
catastrophy, left their world to begin again. After a difficult
journey they landed on an isolated world in the middle of a dangerous
region of plasma storms called the 'briar patch'. They resolved
to give up their 'advanced' ways and live a simple life. Many
years afterwards a group of youth rebelled against this and broke
away. They became known as the So'na. In the late 2370's the Federation discovered the Ba'ku and began observation. Soon after they were contacted by the So'na, and an agreement was reached - in exchange for relocating the Ba'ku, the So'na will give the UFP vital medical information from their harvesting the radiation of the planet's rings. But during the preperations the USS Enterprise found out about the plan. Captain Picard and several of the senior staff disobeyed orders by staging an "insurrection" while the Enterprise returned to contact the Federation. |
Editors Notes | With the revelation that the Ba'ku are
actually
an advanced
culture, the Federation offered to make them a UFP Protectorate until
the
Dominion war ended. After that they will have the option to
become
full members of the Federation. |
