Background | A genetically altered race created by the Founders (changelings), their role is that of the shock troops for the Dominion. Usually, if a Dominion world violates the rules set up for it, the result is a visit by the Jem'Hadar. Essentially they are the security force for the Dominion. A newly born Jem'Hadar matures to the equivalent of age 10 in only 2 weeks. Linguistic skills and cognitive reasoning are also programmed into the genetic code. They do not sleep or eat, needing only the White. There are no females so reproduction relies on birthing chambers. Few reach the age of 15, and those of age 20 or more are considered honored elders. The edict of the Jem'Hadar is best summed up in their battle cry "Victory is Life". |
Editors Notes | The Jem'Hadar have the ability to turn invisible to the
naked eye at will, but can be seen by instruments that pick up other ranges
of lightwaves. It is unknown at this time if this is due to an innate
ability or a form of Cloaking device. They excell in close quarters
fighting, and rival the Klingons for their battle lust.
They are kept under control of the Founders with a severly addictive drug known as Ketrecel White. It's exact properties are unknown, and must be given to them at regular intervals by the Vorta (the Founders representatives to the Jem'Hadar). Any warrior that disobeys the Vorta results in the withdrawal of the drug, and severe withdrawal symptoms and often death are a result. |
