Background | Rigel V is inhabited by a peaceful humanoid population of approximately 1 .3 billion. This culture is thought to be an off-shoot of the Vulcan race, due to the great physical similerities between them. Rigel V has been a member of the Federation since 2184, when the Rigel Accords were signed into law. |
Editors Notes | Rigelians have a similar physiology to Vulcans, although
they are not psionic, nor are they as physically capable. Thier widely
seperated eyes give them greater peripheral vision, but does not limit
their forward vision ability. This gives them a very unusual appearance
which most humanoid races find unattractive. Otherwise they are nearly
indistinguishable from Vulcans/Romulans except for attire and beliefs.
They have excellent schools, and have a higher intelligence than the average Terran. They make excellent teachers, scientists, navigators, helmsmen, and commanders. Rigelians have a high level of technology on their world, and manufacture many types of Federation equipment. Rigel V possesses excellent pharmaceutical laboratories, which produces many of the drugs used in the Federation. |
