| Background | First Federation contact with the species came on the spacestation K-7 when a trader known as Cyrano Jones sold some to Enterprise crew members. Soon the station and the Enterprise was overrun by the creatures. The Tribbles helped Captain Kirk expose a Klingon spy attempting to poison a shipment of grain. The Klingons in response deemed the Tribbles as enemies and exterminated the species as a whole. The creatures re-appeared in the 24th Century on the Federation Space station DS9. Currently under investigation. |
| Editors Notes | They are warm-blooded bisexual mammals capable of reproducing at an incredible rate. It would seem that they are born pregnant. They will not have the energy to reproduce without food, however. For some unknown reason, Tribbles do not like Klingons, and will shriek loudly if even exposed to one. Tribbles will return the affection shown them by humanoids by somehow empathically projecting feelings of peace and relaxation. They live about as long as the average well-kept Terran guinea pig. |
