J.R.R. Tolkien's life:

1892 John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born
1900 Tolkien goes to King Edward's Grammar school
1904 His mother dies when she was 34
1905 He moves to his aunt's house because he is an orphan
1908 Starts first term at Oxford
1914 Tolkien gets married to his childhood love
He goes back to Oxford
1916 Gets married
Goes to war, comes home suffering from shellshock
1917 Starts the Silmarillion
Has his first child it's a boy
1918 War ends Tolkien goes back to Oxford with his family
1924 Becomes a professor
Has another child (another boy)
1929 Has fourth child, a girl
1936 Tolkien finishes The Hobbit.
1937 Begins Lord of the Rings
1948 Lord of the Rings finished
1949 Farmer Giles of Ham published
1954 Volume 1 and 2 of Lord of the Rings published
1955 Volume 3 of Lord of the Rings published
1962 The Adventures of Tom Bombadil published
1964 Tree and Leaf published
1967 Smith of Wotton Major and The Road Goes Ever On published
1971 Tolkiens wife dies at the age of 82
1973 On September 2nd J.R.R. Tolkien dies at 81
