Pycnocentria evecta

Caddis case constructed of sand grains

Case curved and up to 13mm long; made of secreted material covered with small, even sand grains laid down in a neat, continuous spiral; anterior aperture straight, posterior aperture terminal. Head & pronotum golden brown. This is the commonest and most widely distributed species of Pycnocentria, often found on vegetation or stony substrates in moderately slow-flowing streams. NZMCI score = 7
