Mulder thought Scully was perfect, ever since he'd seen her in her underwear
on that first case.

Scully yearned for Mulder's succulent lower lip.

They had never acted on these feelings, either because it was against FBI
policy, or because it would ruin their relationship as partners and best friends.

Mulder's feelings of worthlessness brought on by his uncaring family led him
to think Scully didn't deserve the pain a romantic relationship with him
would bring; he wanted to protect her.  Scully thought a gorgeous sexy guy like
Mulder wouldn't be interested in someone so closed off, inhibited and flat-chested.

Then, one lazy Saturday, they were sitting on Scully's floor, catching up on
paperwork and eating Chinese food, and a lock of Scully's auburn hair fell
into her Windex-colored eyes, and Mulder reached over to brush it away.
Their eyes locked, and they knew they could never love anyone else, and that they'd
be together.  Always.
