Hello MetalHeads! We're back and we're online! I'm sure you're thrilled. The first few issues of the New Metal Gods Update, the source for any and all current information about the Metal Gods Chronicle, will be concerned with catching everyone up on all the goings-on in the D/FW Metroplex since we were a Snail Mail Newsletter. Also, we will be reprinting the John and Amber Saga (as it stands so far), along with all the other fiction that has appeared in our pages in the past. This will allow time for the John and Amber Saga to be completed and for new fiction to be prepared for publication, and it will allow anyone who missed this material the first time around to enjoy it with the rest of us.
So....if there are no objections,
let's get this train moving.
The last time we checked in with you, our story had reached a climactic point, and had then hung in limbo for an extended period of time. Gaius and Samantha had ventured into the Digital Web in search of 3D.EXE, the man (and mentor) Pascal had given his life to find. There they met a man called Micro Wolf at the Spy's Demise, a sort of Virtual Mega Bar/Entertainment complex. He directed them to a Realm known as Strawberry Fields where everything and everyone looked like they had come straight out of the Beatles Yellow Submarine film.
A woman named Lucy directed them to venture into the Slow Node Conduit and eventually into another Realm known to most people in the Web as DedSpace.
As they were leaving Strawberry Fields, our heroes were followed by a trio of Blue Meanies, each of whom carried a diminutive billy club. Upon entering DedSapce, however, the Blue Meanies transformed into seven foot tall metallic robots armed with heavy energy weapons. The ensuing fire fight left Gaius and Samantha scattered into digital gore across the dead, gray landscape.
Enter Sarah and Daniel...
Asked by Kristara to help find her friends, these two young reality deviants delved into the Digital Web. Following the trail left by Gaius and Samantha, they eventually found themselves battling chrome-plated death machines in the realm of DedSpace. After realizing that fighting was futile, they turned to flight, running straight for the heart of the realm.
Sarah and Daniel were caught in an effect know as DataStorm, in which sections of the surrounding (partially) formatted sector were being obliterated under a rain of pixelated glitter.
They struggled through to the center of the realm where they found 3D.EXE, hard wired into the CPU that was driving the entire sector. He asked them for all the quintessence they possessed and then told them to run. They complied, reaching the edge of DedSpace just as it collapsed in upon itself, taking 3D with it.
And
then there was Cornelius Whitlock Moore...next time.
