Warhammer 40,000 is a fururistic wargame set in the 41st millenium, where mankind has spread thoughout the stars, and rules a huge empire. They are led by the Emperor who was almost killed saving his empire. Helping defend their many worlds are the Imperial Space Marines, the Imperial Guard, and the Ecclesiarcy, which contains the Sisters of Battle, the Adeptus Arbites, the Frateris Militia, and many others.
But, many other races also inhabit the galaxy in the 41st millenium. The Orks are a savage Greenskined race that lives only for war. They love the sounds of battle, and they love noise. They are the largest race in the galaxy, and they are they are probably the strongest. The only reason they don't rule everything right now, is because of their tendancy to fight amongst themselves. But, every now and then a great leader will begin a war of conquest called a WAAAGH!!, and they conquer hundreds of planests, and leave a path of destruction in their wake.
There are also the Eldar (panzeez to Orks). The Eldar were once the greatest race in the galaxy, but their way of living made a big chaos guy awake, and he killed almost all of them. Now, they are a race in the battle for survival, but they are slowly dying off. They are a very sophistocated race, and have very powerful weapons.
Chaos arre the most evil race in the galaxy, they live in a place called the eye of terror, a rip in space where the warp and normal space collide. The eye of terror is the home to Demons and Chaos Space Marines. Teh demons are made of the very stuff of the warp, but the Chaos Space Marines used to be Imperial space marines, but then they were led to Chaos during the Horus Heresy, a time when one of the Emporers most trusted leaders turned against him.
Tyranids are a race of Aliens who's only thought is to consume everrything in sight. They are led by the hive mind, and do only what it wants them to. Though they have very few ranges weapons, they are very strong, because they have to most devestation hand to hand combat attacks of any creatures in the galaxy.
The Necrons are a race of really nasty robots who only want to kill stuff, and they are just plain mean. Not much is know about them, but one thing that is know is that the Diggas (on Gorkamorka) are somehow safe from them, and have even had them kill some Orks.
