As Leppard Luck would have it, I was finally able to sit down at my computer long enough to get an extra ticket! I'll ask permission before using anyone's names... but I received a phone call while at work that day, Monday, and after a long eight hours, returned the call. Making arrangements to meet at a local inn, we were car pooling down Route 39 (the best way to go to Hershey in my mind) and arrived in record time! In our seats by 6:30, ready to hear rock n' roll by any means! OK, I admit that only Def Leppard was a draw for me... so there I sat all the way back in row M seat 30 something or another, hoping that they would even notice me! noticing that in front of me were 2 teeny boppers and all around me were primarily shorter than average ppl, that proved not to be too much of an issue. Standing in line between the two on left side of stage, Vivian and Sav were able to see the group I came with. We had a great time showing off our wares, my Hershey Kiss stuffy bought at a flea market for $1 and some Irish saying green shorts purchased on a $1 table at WalMart. We were hopeful of an after show meeting, of course--yet not expecting (so as not to be disappointed:)
I'm not going to bother with the details of the set list, that is for those of you who like to look that up on the official web site. I'll just reiterate that after only one year what a pleasure it was to see Def Leppard not only again but also in my own back yard!
I will just say again as I always have in the past that Def Leppard perform for me more than any one else can say, I feel a personalized attention from them, as if I'm at least getting my money's worth! I'm sure you will all agree that to see Def Leppard in concert in itself is a fantastic experience, but it is always such a fantasy for me--or, dream come true, or not, whichever the case my be--as I have had dreams of Def Leppard playing in my town when I didn't even show up! but that was not the case today, oh no, I did show!
So halfway through the sweltering saltry night I began peeling back buttons and lifting my hair but there was no breeze, no relief from the heat! I had to just let myself disintegrate into the waves of music that overcame me. That's not as easy as it sounds, swaying with the rhythm of Sav's bass, hopping to the beat of Rick's drum, lip-synching Joe's verses and keeping an eye on each Phil and Vivian, too!
I have my favorite songs which always come out soooo well when I'm whoopin' and hollerin' out the words, 'Animal', 'Rocket', 'Hysteria', 'Rock! Rock!' Even the backdrop with screen inset camera images of the band onstage was a great addition and kept me well aware of goings on where I wasn't even looking! I was nearly dead center and able to meet eyes with each performer throughout their rocking solos!
I knew too, that there would be a 'fake encore' and then the ultimate finale... but alas, I did signal with 7 fingers that we will all be awaiting the return of Def Leppard to Hershey in 2007... oh yes, there will be another!!
I give this show 3 stars--attention, detail and :O performance!!! Keep Leppin,
yours truly rocking Deflips/Mistydreamer lady
