Head swimming with questions posed by the mysterious Ezekiel, Peter Parker digged into his roots, searching for a deeper understanding of his powers, and ultimately, himself.

Eventually, Morlun met Spider-Man.

It was discovered that the powers of Fusion were not the ability to copy other's powers. It was a kind of hipnotic suggestion. And, in reality, Spider-Man did not have a broken neck.

After realising this, Spidey defeated the Fusion, but the villain was able to escape after all.
