Brandon Walsh in his civies Background:
Brandon Walsh grew up in the town of Boston, Massachusetts, Earth. He lived with his father and mother who were Arsto-physists working for the United Federation of Planets. Brandon's mother and father had never been in Starfleet Academy and their one dream for their only son was to join the academy.

When Brandon was of the age of 17, he enrolled in Starfleet Academy and was accepted. He immeaditely enrolled in classes in Starship Operations and Engineering. Engineering and Operations was a first love of Brandon's. He would remember being a boy in Boston looking up at the stars wishing he was an officer on a starship. Brandon seemed to be a natural engineer. Warp coils and nacelles were his specialty. He soon graduated the Academy with honors in Engineering and Starship Operations.

After the academy, Brandon secured a position on the USS Mercury as an Engineering Officer. As an ensign engineer, Brandon's engineering mind was developed by some of the great minds on the Mercury's engineering department. Brandon spent a few years on the Mercury, even being promoted to the Assistant Chief Engineer and then when the Chief Engineer was killed on an away mission, to Chief Engineer and given a promotion to Senior Lieutenant.

In 2368, Brandon Walsh was given the Medal of Honor with clusters for his efforts in a cross battle with the Romulans. The Captain of the USS Sakharov, noticing this medal, tried to get the attention of the young Chief Engineer by giving him a promotion of Lt. Commander and a position of Chief Engineer of this bigger vessel. Brandon couldn't resist the offer and decided to leave the Mercury.

Life on the Sakharov was very different from the Mercury. The Sakharov was fitted with newer and more sophisticated technology than the Mercury had and Mr. Walsh was in-charge of the entire staff in engineering. He certainly had fun, but work was work and things needed to be done. Brandon was on the Sakharov for a period of 6 years. Three of those years were spent as the Sakharov's Engineering Chief. After those three years, the Captain always had a special fondness for Brandon Walsh and promoted Brandon to his Number One. Brandon was given the rank of Commander and the title of Executive Officer.

Now, along with his Commanding Officer, Brandon ran the Sakharov. In the three years that Brandon was aboard the Sakharov. She visited many distant worlds and new adventures were always around the corner on this Ambassador class vessel. Brandon enjoyed his time on the Sakharov intensly. The Captain had called Brandon into his Ready Room and Admiral Kyle Keller was in the room. Brandon figured his jig was up on the Sakharov..he had done something wrong. But the Captain and Admiral soon imformed Commander Walsh that he was a great officer and a wonderful commander. To this avail, the Admiral offered Commander Walsh the command of his own vessel, the newly commissoned USS Excelsior-A. Brandon accepted the offer almost within seconds. He knew he would miss the Sakharov, but his own command was what he was striving for for years.

Personality profile:
Captain Walsh is a very good, personable commanding officer. His friendly style makes him easily approachable by all members of his crew. As CO, Captain Brandon Walsh listens to all of his crew's input, and will make his command decisions fairly and 'by the book'. When he gives orders, Captain Walsh is able to make them sound more like requests. His crew responds to such requests gladly and willingly. This rapport Captain Walsh has established with the crew is rare in Starfleet, and makes it a true pleasure serving on board the USS Excelsior.

Being originally from Boston, North America - Earth, Captain Walsh does have a very slight eastern american accent. His easy going personality and manner makes it easy for everyone to think of the Captain as "just one of the guys", even though he is their commanding officer.

Captain Walsh's favorite food is his Aunt's sweet potatoe pie which she makes for him every time he returns to Earth. Captain Walsh has programmed the recipe into the food replicator, but it just doesn't taste the same.

Special notes:
While serving as Executive Officer on the USS Sakharov, Brandon Walsh lead a diplomatic party to the planet of Betazed. While there for several months, he befriended an impath that caught his attention almost immediately. This wonderful woman was an exceptional diplomat and since she was an impath, the mere idea of telepathy intrigued Walsh. Cmdr. Walsh soon got to know Katra Boi very well. He keeps in touch with her often. She gave Brandon a tapestry from her Betazed family which Captain Walsh keeps in his Ready Room.
