This cover is by comics pioneer Jack Cole, the creator of Plastic Man. It features Plastic Man and his sidekick Woozy Winks (hanging onto Plastic Man's legs). Plastic Man is Eel Obrien, a small time hood. He was double crossed during a heist at a chemical plant and doused with acid. In a daze, Eel stumbles to a nearby monastery where a monk nurses him back to health. Eel finds out that his chemical bath has transformed him. "Great guns! I'm stretching like a rubber band!!" He molds his face into a new identity: Plastic Man. Plastic Man resolves to use his powers to fight crime. "I've been it for long enough. Here's my chance to atone for all the evil I've done." Woozy winks was another small time criminal. For saving a drowning witch's life he was granted an immunity to all forms of physical punishment. He fell in with Plastic Man soon after. | |
