FACT FILE: RS-9 Dagger
The Dagger is the Corps' premier dogfighting drone. It's radar
guidance package can lock on to a target designated by the firing aircraft,
or via datalink by an E-5 working in cooperation with a firing aircraft.
It can be fired and forgotten, or it can receive target updates from the
firing craft or the E-5.
Primary Function: AGM (Air-to-Ground Missile)
Secondary Function: AAM (Air-to-Air Missile)
Guidance: Radar, optical tracker
Propulsion: Microfusion Impulse Engine
Warhead: HE (High Explosive)
Missile Nomenclature
The first letter indicates whether the missile is rail-launched
(R) or surface launched (S). The next indicates the missile's general range
category: S for short, M for medium, and L for long. The number is a designator
assigned by STARFLEET Materiel Control Command. Variants of a certain missile
(i.e. warhead or sensor combinations) may add an additional two or three
letters. For example: RL-70MSD indicates a rail-launched, long-range missile
with multiple submunition dispenser.
