Just's appearance reflects the wear and tear of typical adventuring.
His original mourner's garb has been so maltreated that only the hat
remains augmented by a battered snowcat pelt. His armour progressed from
the traditional studded leather via dwarven chain to the current Alfred.
A routine ingestion of raw chaos caused a fluctuation in his appendages
until fate left him with a ruby on his forehead, wings on his back and a
fleshy pink tail on his posterior. The latter was enhanced with muscle
boosters, dragon teeth, a magical claw, and, as a finishing touch, a
cold drake embryo to become a part of his formidable armoury. His
current swords are magical, but not artefacts.
Just is possibly the leading servant of Fate in North Erythria, and
thus one of the sanest people in the region. This higher level of sanity
is not always understood by followers of younger religions. However he
was once a humble adventurer. Yes, amazing to relate Just did head south
to be stopped by an encounter with wolves. Many times in fact, leading
him to perfect a recipe for wolf stew still served in the Dwarven chain
of taverns. Just first hit the headlines when he accompanied a weretiger
priest and his friend Bethor to the ruins of Tandor. It was here that he
teamed up with Syd the sword and patented the P.G.R.B.T (putrescent
goblin raft building technique if you must know) before arriving in
Naras. On his arrival Naras was a town run by Mafia style families. When
he left it was much the same but the pub cat was regularly fed prawns.
After such an achievement it was natural that he should be the first
adventurer to slay a snowcat and then rediscover the Waters of Fate.
It was at the Waters that Just began to understand the higher Dianodian
levels of motivation. Despite the loss of the faithful Bethor he was
able to recover the Moon Amulet as part of the preparations for the
first, successful defence of Woodbry. It was his ability to declaim the
apposite cliches at the correct moment that gave the correct dramatic
emphasis for the Fire Lions to arrive.
He then struck up a profitable relationship with Michele La Tour, and
was instrumental in her conversion to Destu. With her help he was able
to restore the Orb of Healing to its rightful place, Rulfin. After
joining the Dangerous fraternity he was able to reinstate the Great
Guppy as rightful ruler of Tharos, seriously inconveniencing the local
Spider cult at the same time.
Losing Syd and (briefly) his life to Ken Barrington he returned to
Woodbry, now Draugstown, and investigated what was now the Destu temple.
A trap there threw him into limbo where he remained for over a year.
Fortunately the ever faithful Michele summoned him to Northwest
Erythria, in order for him to experience first hand the local tradition
of handing over possessions without a fight. He was then able to restore
the balance which had been disrupted by Leucine's careless creation.
After a brief stint as a Corgulian air taxi he uncovered the amazingly
useful Deaf Oracle and recovered the Grey Cloud spell from Skitosis in a
deal which was sorely wasted by the late Great Guru.
Fate now led him to Yotian, where he met large sentient squid and then
the Howling Oracle. This led him to be convinced that the Universe was
to end with the Conjunction of a Million Spheres unless the whole area
united against the demonic onslaught. Obviously the only way this could
be achieved was by a remarkably convoluted prophesy.
The rest is, or will be history.
