Tools used in Wiccan rituals are the simplest form of
needs: a small table, pentacle, wand, chalice and athame/boline,
two candle holders, an incense burner, 2 small cups one for
water and one for earth, and SELF. Repeat: I am a witch. I am
an eclectic witch. I see the need to borrow from all forms
of knowlege and systems and make them work for me.
Dating back, the magick of the witch was based more on healing
with herbs and reading tarot cards. Some of the earliest pictures
on the many tarot cards depict this.
Let me explain in here about the other things used on the
altar or in ritual or/and spell work. Candles and incense
are used by majority. I will speak of these again later but,
here for a simple altar they are not extensive. Candles in
appropriate colors for the spell/ritual are really just an
extension of the work you will do. Incense also is a choice.
Certain types will enhance the spells/rituals you are at that
moment doing. Not at all a must have--just an elective additive.
Sandalwood is the choice of beginners and white candles.
