Hate Plague

A virus that spreads using small spores that create or enhance a hate of other living creatures. When a creature is infected they begin to glow red, and become very violent and angry. When another living creatures come in physical contact with the infected creature they too are infected. The only known cure for the chaos of the plague is the order represented by knowledge.

There have been two recorded cases of a Hate Plague out-break in the universe.

Cartoon Bio (US):

Eons ago, on the planet Cybertron, the Hate Plague infected a large number of the planets population. When the early Cybertronians started to examine the phenomenon, they learned that only pure knowledge would kill the disease. They did not have the means to administer that, so (somehow) they managed to send the plague (and quite possibly those infected) into a star light years away.

Millions of years later (Earth year 2006 AD), an Earth Scientist (Dr. Morgan) got a hold of the spores that induce the plague when his daughter and a colleague saved Optimus Prime's body from a star going nova. This was presumeably the very same star that contained the first epidemic.

When Dr. Morgan's daughter Jessica was crippled, he vowed revenge on the Autobots, whom he held responsible for the injury.

Morgan infected the Autobots with the plague, which soon spread to the Decepticons, then to the humans and then to the rest of the universe. Rodimus Prime, before becoming infected, ordered Sky Lynx to get a Quintesson to revive Optimus Prime, hoping that Optimus would find a cure for the plague. Sky Lynx saved a Quintesson from a group of infected Sharkticons. In return, the Quintesson repaired Optimus Prime and a number of injured Autobots (most notably Bumblebee, who was rebuilt into Goldbug). Optimus set out on a mission to get the Matrix back from the infected Rodimus Prime, but first, he shielded himself with a metal which the spores could not penetrate.

He found Rodimus in a junkyard and the two battled their way into a car manufacturing plant. Optimus took down Rodimus and removed the Matrix, and quickly returned to Autobot headquarters.

Here, Optimus traveled deep inside the Matrix and found that the plague had infected Cybertron once and only pure logic and knowledge could destroy it. Optimus returned to reality and opened the Matrix, killing the plague for good.

After, it was learned that the wisdom of the Matrix was gone, used up fighting the plague. Dr. Morgan apologized to the Autobots for what he had done, and the Decepticons had made temporary peace with the Autobots.
