They stole a golden disk, which contained directions for navigating to the planet Earth, said to be abundant in energon. However, upon takeoff, they were pursued by the Maximal ship Axalon, which had been notified of the theft. Using the information stored on the disk, the Predacon criminals used their transwarp device, which allowed them to travel through time as well as space. In the midst of the ensuing battle, the two ships crash-landed, presumably at their intended destination. Upon landing, it became obvious that the planet's attributes, while including extreme energon resources, did not match those of Earth.
Megatron ordered the ship to create new bodies for them, which would allow them to survive the outrageously high energon levels on the planet. Shortly thereafter, he was challenged by Dinobot, one of his troops. Instead of fighting, he allowed his subordinate Scorponok to ambush Dinobot, and expelled Dinobot from the Predacon group. This action left five members and indirectly gave the Maximals their fifth member.
The Predacons successfully stole the protoform that became Blackarachnia, and also obtained Inferno. But rather than gain the upper hand, they have generally displayed a lack of fighting ability and an unwillingness to cooperate with one another.
Soon after it was discovered that aliens were keeping tabs on the planet, one of their ships arrived on the planet. Seeing that the Maximals and Predacons had interfered with the planet's development, the Aliens decided to destroy the entire planet with a massive weapon that turned out to be the planet's second moon. When Optimus Primal travelled up in a statis pod to try and destroy the weapon, Megatron remotely sealed the pod, preventing Optimus from escaping. With no other choice, Primal was killed when the pod detonated within the weapon, destroying the pod, the weapon, and Primal. It was to be one of Megatron's greatest victories.
At the same time this was happening, Tarantulas and Blackarachnia were caught breaking into the Axalon, first by Inferno, and then by the Maximals. Tarantulas's body was badly damaged, but he managed to transfer his mind into Blackarachnia. Both escaped in the confusion following Optimus's death.
In the quantum surge that resulted from the weapon's destruction, Terrorsaur and Scorponok were thrown into lava (presumably killed) and Megatron, Cheetor, Rattrap, and Tarantulus were turned into Transmetals.
Working quickly, the Predacons retrieved the statis pods that contained the Fuzors Quickstrike and Silverbolt. However, Silverbolt thought more like a Maximal than a Predacon and soon switched sides.
