Once upon a time...

This is a small account of my background.

In brief; I was born in a very class conscious household, the Comptons. My family is not of noble heritage, but I was brought up as though we were. At the age of 23 I was engaged to marry Nigel Mayfair, the second son to the wealthy Mayfairs. I did not marry him, to my eternal chagrin. Instead I was supposedly sent to a Swiss health resort, to cope with a nervous breakdown.
In reality, Nigel's brother, Robert, had stolen me from his grasp.
Much later I was sent a letter from Nigel which he had written to me on the eve of his life. I still carry it with me, a constant reminder of my damnation. The postmark is somewhat worn and weathered, but is still legible. The letter was posted in London in the Autumn of 1890. I am still 23 years old, as I shall always be.

I can be reached at helena_mircalla@hotmail.com for comments and thoughts.

Please be patient. I have learned to be that.
