Caine, now joint second-in-command of the Viper faction, started as one of the Landsnecht knights. During the Gathering of 1097, Caine volunteered to become the receptacle of the soul of the Eternal Champion and to serve the Vipers' as Lord Marshall of all the Armies.

Caine's influence on the Viper faction was potent and fast, the Viper faction fought at it's most cohesive ever in the battle that year, playing a large role in the tactic of the Unicorns, the eventual winners of the battle.

With Caine now leading the armies of the Viper faction very little will halt them.
