Jareth is the Goblin King. He rules the Underground, which consists of his Labyrinth and his castle. Jareth tries to act tyranical whenever he can; in front of his Goblins, Hoggle, and especially Sarah.

Nicknames: 'That Rat who calls himself Jareth' (Hoggle)

Sarah is the fantasy-loving dreamer. She more or less hates reality, and wishes to escape it all. One might say she is a spoiled brat, but one also has to observe her home life.

Nicknames: 'Sawwah' (Ludo), 'My Lady' (Sir Didymus)

Toby is Sarah's one-year-old half-brother, and the reason for everything Sarah went through. She claims to hate him, but that's not it at all. Sarah's just frustrated with him.

Nicknames: 'Lively little chap' (Jareth)

Hoggle is the cowardly dwarf who helps Sarah through the Labyrinth. At first, he worked for Jareth, as a way to discourage Sarah from finding her brother. But as time goes on, he realizes it's time to change loyalties, seeing as how the girl treats him so much nicer…

Jareth is obviously jealous of the friendship that soon develops between Sarah and Hoggle, and tells the dwarf to give Sarah "a present". It happens to be a Drugged Peach (yeah :-), and Hoggle is hesitant, but finally does as the King wishes. Later, he sees the errors of his ways, and joins Sarah's team for good.
