Much as Hunter liked being the leader of DX, sometimes it had its downfalls, such as when certain members decided to get very drunk and retreat to their hotel room in tears. Hunter sighed as he knocked on the door again.

Sean Waltman, better known as X-Pac, opened the door, face flushed and tear-stained. "Hunter...I guess you heard."

"Heard what?"

Sean didn't answer, just flopped down on the bed. "I'm really sorry Hunter, I know I fucked up bad."

Hunter cautiously walked into the room. It was unusual for his friend to be so upset, but he blamed it on the alcohol. He sat down next to Sean. "What happened?"

"I just don't think I was meant to be responsible...I don't like making decisions, having to be trustworthy and strong and not make mistakes." He sniffled. "I'm such a fuck-up."

"Looks like we've got the exact opposite problem." Hunter muttered cryptically. He patted Sean's shoulder comfortingly. "Get some sleep, OK? I'm sure it'll be better in the morning...once you get over the hangover you're gonna have...and when I can figure out what the hell happened."

Sean nodded agreeably. "Okay Hunter. G'night."

Hunter smiled. "Goodnight Sean."

The next night, Hunter was sitting in his rather boring hotel room, when there was a knock on the door. He got up to answer it and found Sean. "Hey, what're you doing here?"

"I...uhm...I wanted to talk to you." Hunter lead him in and they sat on the bed, Sean nervously wrapping his arms around himself. "I wanted to apologize. For last night. I was really drunk...I don't even remember half the shit I said..."

Hunter smiled. "It's ok, you've sat with my pathetic ass enough times while I've poured my heart out."

"That's just it though," Sean said, sitting up. "You said something...about having the exact opposite problem. What were you talking about?"

Hunter paled slightly. "Nothing. I was just thinking out loud or something."

"Oh come on, you never let anyone else get away with that excuse."

Hunter closed his eyes. "Just let it go Sean. It was nothing important."

Sean narrowed his eyes. Why wouldn't Hunter trust him? "Talk to me man, it's important if it's upsetting you."

"That's real sweet Sean." Hunter said. He couldn't tell Sean this, it would push him away, make him see Hunter for the awful person he was. "Much as I appreciate your concern, why don't we move on to what your problem was last night...."

"Nope," Sean said. "We're gonna talk about YOUR problem Hunter. You are allowed to have them you know."

"My problems are personal, ok? I can keep them from affecting other people."

"Bullshit." Sean stated flatly. "Something's wrong Hunter, I can tell. You know, I've always trusted you, I don't understand why you don't have the same trust in me."

"I DO trust you...you're probably the only person I still trust."

"Then tell me what's going on."

Hunter buried his face in his hands, afraid to face Sean while admitting his problem. "I just feel like...oh hell, I don't know, like I'm losing my control. You and Jess and Billy, you've got your own stuff now, I'm not your leader anymore...I'm used to being in control, to having power, knowing if I didn't mess up, I could keep everyone safe." His voice got quiet. "No one lets me keep them safe anymore."

Sean was frozen in place. Hunter, a man who had always been the strongest person he knew, was admitting a need. A need which Sean could, and desperately wanted to, fill. "You can keep me safe. I...I'm always screwing up...." He suddenly realized he finally had what he needed. He had wanted Hunter for years, but there had always been something the other people had that he didn't. Now he had the advantage- he had no problem giving Hunter the control he wanted. "Hunter, if you want power, you can have power over me. I...want you to control me."

Hunter was shocked, to say the least. But he knew it couldn't be true, that Sean was only feeling guilty about whatever mistake he had made. "Sean, everyone screws up sometime. It's no reason to beat yourself up...to put yourself in a bad situation..."

Sean let out a desperate sob. "What bad situation? Being with you...Hunter, I've wanted to be with you since I was a skinny little kid hanging around in the Klique..."

Hunter sighed. "Sean, you're too upset right now, you aren't thinking rationally. We'll talk about this when you calm down." Sean continued sobbing. "C'mon, relax..." Something inside Hunter snapped. "Sean! Stop crying RIGHT NOW before I kick your scrawny ass!"

Sean's head snapped up. He looked at Hunter in surprise and uncertainty. "Hunter?"

"Oh God..." Hunter pulled Sean into his arms. "Sean, I'm sorry. I don't know where that came from. I didn't mean to yell at you."

Sean gently pulled away. "No, it's ok, it worked, didn't it?"

"But I had no right, no right to yell or to threaten you."

Sean's dark hair was in his face, sticking to the sweat and tears. His eyes were a mixture of anger, frustration, and desire. "I WANT you to yell at me though!" Sean protested. "I want you to pull your big tough guy act on me, and now you've shown you want to, so what's holding you back?" He crossed his arms. "I know you didn't have a problem screwing around with Shawn Michaels back then..."

Hunter rubbed his forehead. Sean was so beautiful, so willing, and his pouty expression caused Hunter to have impure thoughts about spanking his cute little ass...but they were also friends, and Hunter didn't want to ruin that by hurting Sean. "I just don't wanna do anything to hurt you."

Sean couldn't take any more. He was tired and upset and was sick of dealing with his too-worried friend. He jumped up in frustration. "What do I need to do to prove that this is what I want? Do I have to tie myself up, put on a collar and hand you the leash, WHAT?"

That decided it. Hunter stood, gripping the smaller man's shoulders. "You know what you need to do? You need to shut up. Little boys should be seen and not heard." He shoved Sean onto the bed.

"And am I your little boy?" Sean asked teasingly.

Hunter grinned, a smile which was supposed to be menacing but couldn't hide his amusement and affection for Sean. "Oh yeah. Now get undressed, brat."

Sean lay face-down on the bed. Hunter hadn't cuffed him to the bedposts, promising that adventure for a later date. Hunter trailed a finger down Sean's bare spine. "Now normally I'd just fuck you senseless, but since you were giving me such trouble earlier I think its time to put you in your place."

Sean gulped. He wanted this, wanted it with every inch of his skin, but was also terrified at what Hunter could do to him. "How do you plan to do that?"

He was answered by a sharp smack on his ass. "You don't ask the questions, you just play along." It was followed by another, and another, until Sean's ass was a bright pink and he was gasping for breath. It was painful, but in that pain there was an intense pleasure, that this was how Hunter was claiming him, exerting the control Sean so desperately wanted him to. "Hunter..."

He stopped immediately. "Are you OK?"

Sean smiled weakly. "Yeah, but I think I'm gonna explode if you don't fuck me now."

"Turn over." Hunter's voice was rough, and Sean obeyed the command, wincing as recently-spanked flesh met the bed. "Sean, I ever tell you how sorry I am for betraying you last March? Or how I feel really bad about what's happened with you and Jesse?" Sean shook his head. "Well, why don't I make it up to you?" He lowered his mouth to Sean's cock.

"Oh...Oh God...Hunter...that feels..." Sean was on the edge of orgasm when Hunter abruptly pulled up. "Wha..." he trailed off when he saw the blonde's malicious grin. "That's not an apology! It's just mean!"

"Be careful what you say petite, or I'll never let you come."

Sean smiled, ignoring the almost overpowering pressure in his groin. "You going French on me again? I'm not that small..."

"Of course not..." Hunter soothed, kneeling between Sean's legs. Gently, he pushed one slick finger inside Sean. The younger man's eyes widened as he inserted another. Hunter smiled at Sean's obvious pleasure. "Don't get so excited yet, the best still awaits."

Sean let out a small yelp when Hunter pushed inside of him. "Hunter...it feels so...faster, please, faster..."

Hunter kept his thrusts slow just to spite him. "I think you forget who gives the orders here, brat. I'll go just as slow as I want."

Sean was sobbing with need. "Hunterrrrrr....."

Hunter laughed evilly. "What do you say?"

"Please......"

"Such good manners..." He sped up his thrusts, pushing hard into Sean. Finally, with a scream, Sean came, his climax setting off Hunter's orgasm.

When both had recovered, Hunter slowly withdrew from Sean, kissing him softly. "You better not get me used to this and leave me" he whispered, but Sean was already asleep.

"Are you SURE you don't have the water too hot?" Sean whined as he got in the shower.

"Do you EVER stop complaining? I mean honestly..." Hunter laughed, getting in behind him.

The two men goofed around for awhile, trying to splash each other and tossing the little hotel soaps around, until Hunter grabbed Sean, looking straight into his eyes. "You know, you never did tell me what happened that night."

Sean feigned ignorance. "What night?"

Hunter saw right through him. "Two nights ago. You got smashed, kept claiming you made some kind of mistake. I want to know what's going on."

Sean pulled away and placed a finger over the larger man's lips. "Oh, come on, there are more fun things to do than talk about that." He knelt down. "Like this for example." He took Hunter into his mouth.

Hunter wanted to stop him, to get him to talk, but Sean was very very good at what he was doing. He was helpless to do anything but grip Sean's hair and thrust into his mouth. Finally, he came, Sean swallowing every drop.

Hunter helped Sean to stand up. "So, is this how it's gonna be? I want to have a serious discussion and you just want to have sex?" He couldn't keep the hurt out of his voice.

Sean bit his lower lip. "Isn't that what you wanted?" he asked hesitantly. "You want me to be your bitch, right?" He was lost. Wasn't that was Hunter had been asking for last night? He couldn't...it was too much to hope for that he wanted more.

"Let's assume for the moment I don't. What do YOU want?" He played with a piece of Sean's wet hair. "I'm not gonna get angry with you. Do you want to be my bitch...or something else?"

Sean buried his face in his hands. "I don't know how to say it...it's too humiliating." Hunter would think he was nuts, some kind of freak. He would leave him...

"So is getting wasted in front of half the Fed, but you seemed to have no problem doing that. Sean...you need to tell me. I just want to know what you want." Without consciously realizing it, Sean reached out to wrap his arms around Hunter, who responded by holding him tightly. "C'mon baby, I don't want to upset you..."

Sean looked up. The one word seemed to click, to cover every feeling he ever had towards Hunter. "That's it," he whispered. "That...that's what I want. I wanna be your baby."

Hunter smiled with pleasure. "There, now was that so hard?" Sean shook his head. "Know what else would be just as easy?"

Sean pulled away, frowning. "Lemme guess, me telling you how exactly I royally fucked up." Hunter nodded. Abruptly, Sean stepped out of the shower. Hunter turned the water off and stood behind him, knowing the confession would go easier if Sean didn't have to look at him. Sean cleared his throat. "It's about Stephanie."

Hunter struggled to keep his voice calm. "Did you sleep with her Sean?"

Sean shook his head. "No. I don't think class like her associates with trash like me."

"So then what happened?" Every instinct in Hunter's body told him to go over and hold Sean, but he fought them down.

"She...we were in the dressing room alone...and she told me that it was useless to stick around, that she could see the way I looked at you and you 'just weren't that way.' It had been a bad day so I told her that you were 'that way', had been 'that way' for years, and...Hunter, she's really pissed, you might as well not even go to Raw because she's gonna do anything she can to make you lose the belt." He turned around, tears running down his face. "I'm sorry Hunter...I know I fucked everything up so bad..."

Hunter quickly pulled Sean against him. "It's not your fault...she was gonna find out anyways." He kissed the top of Sean's head. "Now that we've soaked the bathroom floor, you wanna go get something to eat? It's been a long couple of days."

Sean let out a watery chuckle. "You're too considerate. You're gonna spoil me."

"That's my intention...baby."

Big Boys on a Sunday morning is a very quiet place. Mostly, it's filled with older couples drinking coffee and reading the paper, or young families taking their kids out. Hunter and Sean felt uncomfortable in the wholesome atmosphere, especially considering their wild night and morning.

Sean pushed a piece of bacon around his plate and cursed quietly as it ended up in a puddle of syrup. Hunter laughed. "That's what you get for playing with your food."

Sean scowled at him. "How bout I play with yours then?" He reached over to pour ketchup onto Hunter's scrambled eggs, but the blonde stopped him. "Gosh Hunter," Sean said innocently, "I wasn't actually going to do anything bad to them, just make them more interesting for you."

"Oh I get it, you were just trying to help." Hunter speared Sean's syrupy bacon with his fork. "Then I guess I'll return the favor by taking this off your hands."

"Hey!" Sean sat up in protest "That's mine! I only got two you know!"

Hunter grinned. "If you want it back you'll have to come over here and get it." Sean got out of the booth and came around to Hunter's side. Hunter popped the bacon in his mouth, but let one end hang out. Quickly, Sean grabbed it in his mouth and as each tried to get more of the piece, their lips met and all of a sudden they found themselves making out in the small booth.

The waitress pouring coffee two tables over glared at them. "This is a family restaurant you two!!!" She turned back to her coffee pots. "Besides, you're supposed to use spaghetti."

Back at their booth, Hunter and Sean were ignoring her and concentrating on getting to know each other's mouths better. Sean broke off for a second. "You taste like syrup," he whispered.

"That's cuz I stole your tainted bacon, silly." Hunter whispered back. He brushed his lips across Sean's forehead, a slight syrup residue making the kiss slightly sticky. "You taste pretty good yourself. Like strawberries."

Sean glanced over at his unfinished Belgian waffle. "Maybe we should get some of that Reddi-Whip and we can taste that too?"

Hunter laughed quietly. "Maybe, but let's finish our food first, ok? The other people are staring...we'll finish this in the hotel room."

Sean reluctantly went back to his side of the booth. "You're nothing but a tease, you know that?"

"But you love me for it, right baby?" Sean shivered with delight at the use of the pet name. Hunter raised his eyebrows. "Well, I do believe we've found a new turn-on for you. All I have to do is say 'baby' and you just shake in the most adorable way."

"I hate you," Sean hissed. "You are an evil man and if I had the keys to the car I'd leave your ass here."

Hunter patted his pocket. "They're right here. All you gotta do is fish for them....Jesus Sean, I didn't mean it....Sean....stop tickling me! Now who's evil?! Cut it out!!!!!!!"

Stephanie McMahon stepped into the dark room. "Undertaker? Are you..."

There was a rush of cold air as Taker came forward. "Stupid woman...you rejected me and now you have come here, probably begging for my help."

"Yeah, but I'm sorry about all that!" Stephanie protested. "C'mon, you know when you come back you're gonna want the belt. Why not start going for it by wearing Helmsly down now?"

"You have a point...for once." Taker considered her idea. "Alright, I will do what you asked." Abruptly, he pulled her against him, lifting her up by her collar. "But be aware, pathetic girl, you owe me now...and I collect my debts in blood."

He dropped her on the ground, leaving her in a panting, terrified heap.

Monday night. Hunter paced around the dressing room, waiting for Raw to start. Stephanie and Tori were notably absent, but the three men in the room were too caught up in their own tension to notice or care.

Shane poked his head in the door. "Hey Hunter? Mind if I come in for a sec?"

Hunter nodded as Jesse got up. "Uhm...I'm gonna...I'm gonna call Billy. You guys have a nice chat now."

Shane sat down in the chair Jesse had vacated. "I heard what happened between Sean and Steph." Sean opened his mouth to protest but Shane cut him off. "Let me finish X-Punk Anyways, I just wanted to tell you...there isn't much I can do to stop her from whatever she's gonna do, but all the same I'm on your side."

Hunter smiled gratefully. "Thanks Shane. And if you ever need help with," he held one hand high above his head, suggesting someone of great height, "just tell me and I'll see what I can do."

"How'd you know...never mind, I don't think I want to hear it." Shane smiled. "Would knocking some sense into him be too hard? He wants me to get involved in his little skits...you can just imagine how much my dad would love that one..."

He was cut off by the sound of the TV roaring into life. Stephanie was coming to ringside accompanied by Vince and Linda. She stepped into the ring and spoke into the microphone. "Now as you may know, my mom has made some decisions involving the Rock," she paused for the scream of the crowd as Linda smiled slightly, "and I haven't agreed with those decisions." The crowd booed and screamed 'Slut!!!' Vince glared menacingly at them, but Stephanie ignored them. "But now, I've had a slight change of heart," she said, grinning. "In fact, I think we're gonna give the Rock a title shot...tonight!" The crowd screamed. "How about...now?! Yup, I think right now's a good time for a title shot!" The crowd kept cheering, but most were wondering where the screwjob would come from this time. "So if the Rock and Triple H would get down here.."

The crowd roared to life as the Rock came out. He started his usual spiel about the McMahons screwing him and sucking monkey's nipples and all the other stuff. His excessively long promo gave Hunter and Sean a chance to discuss Stephanie's announcement.

They stood in the entranceway to the ramp. "You can always tell her you want to be with her instead of me..." Sean suggested.

Hunter silenced him with a rough kiss on the lips. "Except I'd have to be nuts to do that just to keep the championship. You can't have hot sex with a belt. Now wish me luck."

"Good luck," Sean whispered as Hunter's theme hit and he strode out to the ring.

Hunter and the Rock were actually a pretty even match, a lot of give-and-take was going on before Hunter finally gained the upper hand. Setting Rock up for the Pedigree, he didn't see the chair shot from behind....

"Oh my Gahd, that's the Big Bossman who just hit Triple H with the chair!" yelled JR. Bossman continued to pummel Hunter with the chair, Buchanen distracting the ref, as Kurt Angle and the Radicals helped to beat Hunter into unconsciousness. The Rock ran over to pin him as Vince got the ref to refocus on the match and then 1...2...3...it was all over. The fans nearly had a aneurysm as Rock emerged the WWF Champion, all ignoring that Stephanie and her Corporate cohorts had been the biggest reason for the victory.

"For the last time Sean, I'm not mad at YOU, I'm mad at her." Hunter half-shouted as he sat on the hotel bed.

Sean sat miserably on the other end. "But it's my fault! I was the one who told her."

"Deceptions can only go on for so long. It's probably a good thing she just heard it...imagine her shock if she woulda walked in on us."

Hunter's joke had the desired effect. Sean smiled slightly as he moved closer. "So...you wanna try out the handcuffs tonight?"

Hunter shook his head. "I might start imagining you were Stephanie and then I'd risk getting arrested for assault."

"Okay...." Sean mock-pouted. "I'm gonna go take a shower then, alright?"

"Sure." Sean left to get in the bathroom and Hunter's good humor fell. He was happy the lie, and his relationship with Steph, was over, but he had lost the thing he had worked for his entire life. He couldn't stop the tears that ran down his face.

The bathroom door softly creaked open as Sean came out. He sat down next to Hunter on the bed and gently placed an arm around him. "See? I knew it...all I had to do was pretend to leave and you'd break down like this." he said quietly.

"You know, if it had been anyone else...Foley, Jericho, anyone who had actually worked to get this far, I'd be fine now. But no, I lost to the Rock, who got where he is from being Daddy's little boy and whoring himself to the fans." He shook involuntarily and Sean hugged him tighter. "I tried so hard, I worked my way out of Shawn's shadow, I overcame how totally over that bastard Stone Cold was, I took everything they dished out...and they still took it away from me." He wiped his eyes. "Sean...baby...I need to make a phone call ok? And...I think I want to do this alone. I'm just gonna run down to the payphone in the lobby...I'll be right back...maybe we can try the handcuffs after all when I get back."

Hunter ran down the steps to the payphones, where he put change in one and placed a call to a house in Florida. "Hey....look, I know you hate me, you don't want to hear my voice, you don't even want to think about me, but I think I owe it to you to say how sorry I am. I think I get it now, what it feels like to have years of work shot down........"

Hunter was stopped by a gloved hand on his shoulder. "Let's take a stroll to the parking lot," a dark voice said.

As Hunter felt himself dragged outside, Viscera courteously came by and hung up the phone.

Sean lay on the hotel bed. He had lit candles, put on some romantic music, decided that wasn't the atmosphere he wanted and put on some Marvin Gaye, and done everything he could think of to await Hunter's return. "Let's Get It On" was playing for the fourth time and Sean was just plain getting horny. Then, the phone rang. "Hello?"

"Do you have any idea how hard it is to get through to you?" asked a familiar but unexpected voice. Sean was stunned into silence. "Look punk, this doesn't mean I like you or anything, but your friend Hunter called me and I distinctly heard Undertaker drag him away...I think he said something about a parking lot....."

"If you're looking for revenge, this is not a good time. Stephanie's taken care of that." Sean was almost in tears. Taker had Hunter???

Mick Foley sighed. "What kinda guy do you take me for? I was just trying to help you..." He sighed. "I don't want anyone to get hurt that doesn't have to."

Sean let out a deep breath. "Thanks Mick...I owe you...I'll buy lots of copies of your next book, ok?"

"Yeah! New York Time #1 baby!!!" His voice softened. "Now go get Hunter ok? I hate the thought of him all injured and stuff when it wasn't me hitting him."

The paramedics had shown up on the scene relatively quickly after Sean had called them. They helped load Hunter's bloody and broken body onto the stretcher. Sean hovered after them. "Is he gonna be ok????"

One of the paramedics turned back to look at him. "I think so...he's pretty deep in a coma though." He sighed deeply. "This is against the rules, but if you wanna come along with us to the hospital you can. Can't see any harm in you being here with us." Sean thanked him and they rode off to the hospital.

Hunter woke to the sound of Bloodhound Gang. Without even thinking about it, he murmured "Jesse, turn that fucking noise off."

A very startled Road Dogg switched off the CD player. "Sorry...it always helps me feel better when I get hurt..."

"Where's Sean?"

"We uhm...we had to kick him out of here so he could get some sleep. He refused to leave you know. Shane's with him now, I'd go get him but I'm not quite sure where they went. I wonder where they are?"

He was interrupted by two dark-haired men busting into the room. "I'd say that answers your question, Jess." Hunter said.

Sean heard him and yelled. "See what you did Shane? He woke up and I wasn't there...."

Hunter rested a hand on his suddenly throbbing head. "Sean, dear, can you keep it down? I landed awful hard on my head a couple times and you aren't helping matters."

Sean dropped to his knees beside Hunter's bed, resting his tearful face in the blanket. "I'm so sorry...it's all my fault...this never woulda happened if I hadn't got Stephanie pissed."

Hunter's headache was getting worse. "Sean, I swear to God, one more word out of you about how sorry you are and I will ram my IV post down your throat."

Sean gulped. "I'm sor-" he stopped himself. "You sure there's not something else you wanna ram down my throat?"

Shane pressed one hand against him mouth to keep from laughing. "Someone's very sexually charged this morning."

Hunter laughed. "I'm dead sexy, can you blame him? " His got more serious. "How'd you guys find me?"

"Foley called me, if you can believe it. He heard Taker grabbing you on the phone. He actually stopped by while you were out. He was pissed that Taker messed up that nice scar he gave you on your forehead." Sean sat down next to Hunter. "We haven't found Taker yet."

Jesse looked up. "Speak for yourself. He was backstage at Smackdown, grabbing Steph by her collar and saying there were more fun ways than blood to pay back a debt." He shrugged. "Shane, I think your sis is gonna have a baby shower in a few months and I'd suggest making hats with little holes in the top so the baby's horns can stick out."

There was a quiet for awhile, until Sean asked "So...are you really ok Hunter? I mean...it just sounds really bad...concussions, broken bones..."

Hunter pulled Sean down so they were lying next to each other. "You broke your neck and came back ok from that, remember? I'll be good as new real soon, I promise. Now...why don't we have Shane go away and cuddle with his Big Show," Shane smiled embarassedly and left, "and Jesse can raid my pants for pocket change so he can have pay-phone sex with Billy."

Jesse's grinned widely. "Got my own change this time." He almost skipped out of the room.

Sean wrapped a piece of Hunter's hair around his finger and Hunter playfully batted it away. "Stop that...I'm tired and I know you haven't slept in forever so why don't we get some rest?"

Sean nodded, his head resting on Hunter's chest. "I just don't like you getting hurt. That's my job remember? I get off on that sorta stuff." He burrowed closer. "I love you."

Hunter smiled. "I love you too."

Soon, both were asleep, and it was evident Sean really hadn't gotten any sleep during Hunter's coma, because the blonde woke first. Seeing a package of markers left behind, probably from one of Mick's children, he grinned evilly and grabbed them, going to work amusing himself.

Sean blinked as he woke up. Something felt odd...his shirt was bunched up underneath him. He looked down at his exposed stomach. "HUNTER!!!!!"

The larger man tried to maintain an innocent look. "Yeah, what's up?"

"How the hell do I explain this to the guys in the locker room?" HE yelled, gesturing to the word "Baby" scrawled across his stomach.

"Well, they haven't made a new shirt with your name on it in awhile, so I figured I'd make one for you...but your shirt was too dark to write on so..."

Sean got up in mock disgust. "You're worse than a little kid!" He stalked out of the room.

Hunter smiled. Maybe he was beat up and in a hospital, maybe he had lost his belt and pissed off his boos, but he still had Sean and that was what was important.

Jesse came in. "Hey Hunter...why does Sean have 'Property of Triple H' written on his back?" Hunter just laughed. Yup, everything was gonna be just fine. 1
