On a side note...my dance roots have been calling me lately, and since I've never made dancing a part of anything I've written before, I figured I'd throw some in here :) The song is "I Love You" by Sarah McLachland.

Christina looked up from the care tag she was reading to glare at Chris
Jericho. "Yes. The shirt looks FINE. Better than the last one. Can we please
go now?"

Chris stuck out his lower lip in a pout. "You know, for a women, you aren't
very patient. This is only the fifth shirt I've tried on.."

Christina buried her face in her hands. "Yes, but they're all the SAME!!!
And not just in a 'hurry up and find something, Matlock is on in fifteen
minutes' way...they are the exact same shirt!!!"

Chris crossed his arms over his chest. "They are NOT!"

Christina got up. "You know what? Fine. I'm going to pay for my shirt and
then I'm gonna get some ice cream. You catch up when you're ready." She
walked out of the fitting room area, leaving a very irate Jericho behind.

*** Ten Minutes Later ***

Chris sat down with a sigh across from Christina at the small table. "Well, I
hope you're happy now that I have a shirt that I'm unsatisfied with."

Christina licked her cone and smiled. "Actually, I am..I was getting quite
sick of that store."

Chris looked at her, took a deep breath, let it out, and said what he had
been meaning to all day. "We have to talk."

Christina narrowed her eyes at him. "Hey, just because we're sharing a room
doesn't mean I have to tolerate your strange fashion habits...."

Chris touched her hand to make her stop and listen to him. "Not about that.
We need to talk about what happened last night...and for that matter, the
night before last."

Christina looked down. "Oh." Absently, she rubbed her eyes. "Look, like I
said, I'm sorry that I acted how I did. I'm ok now though, really, I am."

"Look...Christina...nothing happened between me and Mari." He paused to look
at Christina who was sitting in shocked silence. He went on. "What you walked
in on was nothing more then us in an argument over her not telling me who
pissed in her cornflakes that morning." Christina giggled involuntarily and
Chris smiled. "Mari's great and all, but I think she has her eye on a
different blonde....and it sure isn't Adam."

Christina glanced up at him. "Really?" Chris nodded. She dropped her head to
the table "My, I feel stupid."

Chris tried to keep from laughing. "It's ok. I know it probably looked really
bad."

Christina raised her head to look at him. "But I had no right to react to
anything, no matter how bad it looked."

Chris reached out to gently take her hand in his. "Quit beating yourself up
over this." He grinned. "Besides...you were kinda cute when you got mad."

"Don't start talking like that." Christina said quietly. When Chris looked at
her in confusion, she explained. "I don't need you being nice to me because
you feel sorry for me."

"I'm being nice because I like you, not out of pity..." Chris trailed off
when he saw Christina shaking her head.

"You make think that, but inside I know you don't feel that way about me."
Christina sighed. "Can we just agree to put all of this behind us?"

Chris looked at her for a moment, wondering if she really did want to forget
the entire relationship issue or whether she was just waiting for him to say
some magic word. "Uhm..ok, whatever you say....if you decide you want to be a
little more open to the possibility someone might care for you, you know
where I am..."

Christina smiled tiredly at him. "I really appreciate your efforts, but
really, it's better this way."

It was then they saw Hunter and Mari approaching them, both all smiles.
"Hey!" Hunter called out, waving to them. As the two guys talked, Christina
pulled Mari to the side. "You and Hunter look happy..." she said.

Mari grinned back. "Yeah, we are."

Christina looked down and to the side, too embarrassed to look Mari in the
eyes. "Look....I'm really sorry about how I acted. I was being a real bitch
and I apologize."

Mari touched her shoulder comfortingly, too happy about her and Hunter to
really be mad at anyone. "It's ok, I was kind of being evil myself, and
besides...love will make you do strange things, and you sure seem to be in
love with Chris."

Christina sighed. "Yeah, I am, but I really don't think he returns the
feeling. He's being real nice but..." She paused to try and rub away the
headache that was forming. "I've just had too many people act like they care
about me out of some sense of pity...and I just don't want that."

Mari nodded her understanding. "Don't count him out yet, though....you never
know what might happen."

She was about to continue when Kas and Adam ran up to them, both dripping
wet. "We need to go. Like NOW." Kas said.

"Why?" asked Christina in confusion.

"Well, me and Kas kinda got into a little debate over where to get lunch
at...and next thing we knew, we had pushed each other into the fountain and
mall security were after us." Adam explained.

The six of them managed to evade the security guards and get back to their
car. When they got home, Kas and Adam changed into dry clothing and sat down
on the couch to watch a movie, Kas leaning back against Adam's chest. Mari
glanced at them, and then at the kitchen. "I'm bored...I think I'm gonna make
some cupcakes or something for later."

She walked into the kitchen, Hunter following behind. "I'll help..." he said
as he trailed after her.

Christina decided to go up to her and Jericho's room to read. As she opened
her book, she flipped on the radio. About ten minutes later, Jericho was
getting sick of watching Kas and Adam snuggle and decided to go see if he
could borrow a book from someone to keep himself entertained. He paused
outside his door, hearing the dance music blaring from inside. He hesitantly
pushed open the door to find Christina, having totally abandoned her book,
dancing along with the music....but not just dancing...he could tell there
were actual steps and moves going along with what she was doing. She turned
around and saw him, and immediately froze in place. Blushing with
embarrassment, she turned off the radio.

Smiling, Chris applauded lightly. "That was really good."

Her blush deepened. "Thanks...I actually danced for twelve years while I was
in school...sometimes I feel like seeing if I can still move the way I used
to."

The fast song that had been playing on the radio ended, and as the slow intro
to the next started, Chris held out his arm to Christina. "May I have this
dance?"

Christina looked at him hesitantly. "I was never really good at the slow
stuff..."

"Neither was I." Chris said. He gently grabbed Christina's sleeve and tugged
her over to him. The traditional dance position didn't work because of their
height difference, so Christina settled (settled? ha...she couldn't have been
happier about the new position if she tried) for laying her head on his chest
as he wrapped his arms around her and the words to the song started.

I have a smile
Stretched from ear to ear
To see you walking down the road

We meet at the light
I stare for awhile
The world around us disappears

Slowly, Chris and Christina turned in a circle. The clutter of the room, the
bright light from the lamp, all of it seemed to slip away as they held each
other.

It's just you and me
On my island of hope
A breath between us could be miles

Let me surround you
A sea to your shore
Let me be the calm you seek...

But every time I'm close to you
There's too much I can't say
And you just walk away...

Christina tried not to let herself sigh, she knew that this close to her, he
would feel it. She knew she loved Chris, she knew her feelings were real, but
she knew there was no way the feeling was returned. Even if there was nothing
between him and Mari, he had never shown any interest in her...

And I forgot
To tell you
I love you

And life's too long
And cold here
Without you

I grieve in my condition
For I cannot find the words to say
I need you so...

Chris could feel Christina's body tense in his arms. She wasn't relaxed
around him, she never really had been.... He didn't understand what was going
on, first she was giving every impression of being in love with him, now she
was trying to brush him off. Had he done something? Were his feelings really
out of pity, as she seemed to think they were? Or was something else going
on...something totally beyond his comprehension?

His deep thoughts were broken by the sound of pounding on the door
downstairs. And then more knocking...

In the kitchen, Mari was sitting on the counter, more of the cupcake mix on
her than in the bowl, which was probably due to Hunter "accidentally" hitting
her with the spoon over and over. As the knocking began again, Hunter poked
his head out of the kitchen door. "Will someone please answer the door before
I Pedigree all of you?" he yelled.

In the living room, Kasy looked up. "I don't want to be Pedigreed, so I guess
I'd better answer that." she said.

Adam followed her, saying "It's not the Pedigree I'd worry about, I'd be more
scared of being speared with that nose of his..." Kas opened the door and the
person standing there caused Adam to freeze in shock.

Kas looked at him, then at their visitor. "Uhm...hi."

Who is that at the door? Will Jericho and Christina ever get on the path to
couple-hood? What will Mari and Hunter say when they're asked what happened
to all that batter? Answers to these questions and more when "THE REAL WORLD-
WWF STYLE" returns!!!!!
