"Darkness"
When darkness encroaches, forming like clouds
and black as any night,
And a stillness surrounds, closing all paths
and blinding my sight
I weep, for that which I do not have
and that which is beyond my reach,
All things around me dim and fading
life leaving, and no one hearing
And then, slowly, the stars appear
each one small and weak,
Spreading across the sky
to light the way, and yet still I seek
Then illusions crack, the sky fractures
into a broken maze of glass,
Everything is wrong, nothing seems right
and the emptiness never to pass
But from out of the shadows, a truth comes forth
simple in form, and pure,
Stunning my heart, my body, my soul
with a strength beyond resistance
Though the wounds are still there
and the scars run so deep,
Something has changed, someone is there
beside me, letting me weep
Holding my hand, not letting me fall
from the narrow place that I walk,
Invisible but close, always there by my side
no matter the pain, he still does not balk
The path is still dark, the way dimly lit,
but the stars have returned to their place in the sky
