Game Events 1/24/04


11/6
Group is standing in front of a cave. There is a large scaly carcass, two large dead men. We head into the cave. There seem to be 20 winter outfits within the entrance to the cave. All are hobgoblin size. Drake can tell that the hobgoblin sorcerer had been there recently. We head down into the cave farther. Drake can tell that the place has a strong scent, that gives him allergies.

We continue farther in. The whole area contains a very strong pepper spray scent. We come to a fork, head down a curve. We come to many other forks in the passage, and follow the more well-traveled paths. Can see twenty feet ahead, a fairly large amount of rubble. Fairly recent, within the last day.

After clearing an area, we head on. We camp for the night.

Martin asks his god how we can better prepare, and we are told "ready those things which will aid you to overcome obstacles; for despite the myriad delays and traps your enemies set before you, obstacles shall rise in their way that they do not foresee. Have faith and follow your course."

8 hours in, we come to a stone wall. After that is moved, Henry continues on searching ahead of us as we continue. He finds a trap, and as the rest of us are hammering at the stone wall, there is a blade barrier that comes through. Laquavious brings it down. After taking an immense amount of damage from the blade barrier, Elayshea heals us.

Henry continues searching. He can sense something as he searches....like the stuff Drake briefly smelled. Smells like something organic. Perhaps something from a plant? Scrapes a little off, and sees some handwriting on the wall. "This path will lead you to death. Turn around and leave us alone. This is your last warning."

As we are clear up to the wall, we go ahead. Night comes, and we rest.

We continue on in the morning, and we come to a fork where it seems that both are well traveled. After having Elayshea cast find the path, she tells us which path to go. We continue on.

We continue on, and can find some signs of combat. We hear something behind a stone wall, but decide not to fight it and move on.

We continue on with find the path, and eventually it leads us outside. It is 10:30 a.m. We find that we are in the Desmond Hills. No visible people. We are far south. We are in the area that Martin grew up in. He is pretty sure that they are headed south. We are pretty sure that the patrols are north of us. Martin casts sending to the priests of Reliant to let them know where the hobgoblins were. We decide to follow the hobgoblins.


Drake finds that the hobgoblins don't seem to be stopping, they seem to be eating as they march. He turns into a bird to try to track them while the rest of the group presses on.



11/26
We continue moving forward. About three hours into the day we find a hobgoblin body. Looks like he was so exhausted that he died.

Laquavious goes to back to Beregost;

He then teleports to Karse, to look for more items.
He purchases a scroll of teleport. He heads back to the group.



11/29
three days pass, and we head into the forest. The forest is about 20 degrees warmer due to the cover. We head into the "Fae Wood". It is rumored to be full of fae.

We continue into the forest. We can see bodies that have been cut open, etc. After walking a bit, we find that we are all (except for Henry) entangled. After all of us getting free, we can hear a very peaceful female voice. "stop struggling and we can talk. I am not your enemy." Someone lithe, slender frame, robes in greens and browns with a white-ash staff in hand, female, steps out from the shadows.

She says that she wishes to speak with us, however people react negatively to these meetings. The way she speaks seems to be ... wrong. She says that the humanoids will not be leaving the forest, and neither will we unless we assist her in something.

She is interested in something in the forest. There is an idividual who has taken up residence in the forest. She has captured the lady of the waters, and holds the plants and animals in her control. things are afraid of her, and dark fae have arisen. She needs her removed.

Martin asks where we can find her, and she says that the Lady of the Waters could tell us. She is being kept in her lake.

She seems determined to keep the war out of the forest.

Yethsonel has taken control of the plants and animals. She advises steering clear of the center of the forest. The lady of the waters will be able to tell us how to defeat her. Once we are finished with this, she will speak with us.

We agree to it, and decide to rest a little bit before we go.



11/30 We head out.

We continue on, and are encountered with a tendriculous. We battle it, and eventually defeat it.

12/2
As we are resting, we come across a large boar. He tells us of a creature. Tells us of how it can gain the benefits of a panther, wolverine or bat, depending on the form that it is in. Drake describes it as angels of savage gods. He tells of how others are swayed. They hunt for each other as they can. He says that he can lead us part way, and we follow him.

We continue down through the brush. We are told of black tusk, who was a friend of his. We continue under the brush for about two days.



12/4
Near the evening we head into a cavern filled with gemstones, a zorn and an earth elemental. There is also a dire eagle. They are all discussing battle tactics. In the next room, there are some fire elementals, dire elk, etc. We will be leaving the next morning for the guardian.

Has heard him called Gherlarn. But not sure what his name is. Tells us of a coven that goes there, but that the hunting beasts do not go there that he has seen. Lupines are likely to be there. Advises us to be careful of the water born fae. The human like servants are known as "forest sloths". We prep our spells and prepare to go in to battle.
