**ViPern was suffering the worst lag ever. Some of the poses are given 20 minutes or so after the fact, thus the lack of continuity in spots. Mishia nods. "I see.." she sighs and moves to a cot, and rolls out the cylinder, a set of carving knives and wood tools within. Bradley laughs good-naturedly. "I didn't. Make it, that is." He unbelts the thing, pulling it over his head in one movement, then he scruffs at his hair and folds the robe over a chair. "One of the riders pointed me to the store-rooms. There were a few robes left-over out there." He shrugs. " Some of 'em were pretty awful looking, but this one was /nice/." And he beams, with himself. "Whatcha got there?" He asks, curious, nodding to Mishia's collection of implements. Mishia grins. "Just some wood tools I picked up a long time ago.. I've been carving a lot lately." Freand shakes the fabric in his hands before dropping it to thread /another/ shardling needle. Laconic tone is laced with some envy. "Lucky that." "Yeah?" Brad takes a seat on one of the cots. "Do you have anything finished?" Then, turning back to Freand with a broad grin he notes: "There's more of 'em out there, you know. I could show you where if you like?" He doesn't guarantee their quality, of course; just their location. Though with 200-odd candidates scrounging for robes, they'll not last long. Mishia smiles a bit and takes a small awl out, flipping it in her hand lowly. Freand's smile is grateful yet slightly strained. "Almost done this one now." With only a stitch or two more there's not much point. And one of those may not fit and still need some tucks and pulls. Saran glances over at Freand, he's not going to volunteer...he's not. "Here." he offers gruffly, sliver thimble fished from his pocket to toss over to him, "Slip that on yer finger...it'll help." Mishia takes up her statuette of Ryath, holding it in one hand. Bradley shrugs. "Suit yourself." Though he grins at Freand. Then turning back to the girl, he peers at the statuette, eyebrows raising. "Shards. That's not bad, that." Freand reaches up to catch the silver projectile. Eyes gleam with hint of gratitude. "Thanks. You have your's done too Saran?" Of course the weaver would.... and well made too, Freand would bet marks on it. Mishia smiles a bit. "Well, thank you. I hope Ryath likes it.. I worked hard on it." Saran leans over fishing under his cot...ears burn red as he pulls dingy grey bundle out from under his cot, "Aye...here it is..." hands chapped from so much cleaning, it's almost white again. Freand has been trying to place Ryath... Ryath... hmmmm green isn't she? "It's well done." Quiet admiration for Mishia before he turns to look at the bundle Saran displays. "Is that white?" Mau blinks in from **between** Mishia smiles and moves to get her robe, slipping the statuette in one of it's pockets. Jambiya blinks in from **between** Scrambling behind the changing curtain, Janna soon emerges clad in her Candidate's robe. "How does it look, Mishia, she asks her friend anxiously. Then voice turns curious. "Hey, that's a nice sculpture. Did you do that all by yourself?" Mau circles around Janna, crrroooning encouragement. Bradley pauses in his admiration of the statuette to blink at Saran. "Jays, Saran. What happened?" Cause he was expecting the weaver to put the rest of them to shame. Janna smiles up at the circling flit. "Hey there, Mau," Saran grumbles, "Tis suppose to be." he tosses bundle on to the next cot, "Don't be gallant friends...it gets ye in trouble." Mishia smiles softly. "It looks wonderful. And thanks.. I've worked hard on it." She chuckles as she moves to slip hers on. "I was talking with Ryath, and decided to do it." Mishia steps back out, wearing her robe and sandles, a slight bulge in her pocket where her statuette is. Freand rises to take a closer look. "What happened to it?" Bradley whistles faintly. "Janna. You're looking very well, if you don't mind me sayin'" He winks at the girl. "Make it yourself?" "That's a very good job! I didn't know you were a carver. How long did it take you to do?" She looks over to Mishia, only to find that the girl's disappeared. When she slips back into the group, Janna casts an appreciative eye at her and smiles warmly. From the corner of her eye, she watches the scene with Saran, curious. Saran grimaces, "Pris fell asleep in the galleries, I left the fabric as a pillow...when she was woke up.. thought it was scraps and tossed it." voice sorrowful as he glances towards dingy whites...no cheer here. Kenny the Candidate pushes past the heavy curtains and walks in from the balcony. Mishia smiles. "Well, I just took it up on some of the longer shifts.. Patrol duty's a long and lonely time, so I just took up carving. And it took me about 2 sevendays to get this detailed." Aspen sits down on an empty cot and quietly feeds some hay to poor Kenny. C'zar materializes out of thin air. Janna smiles over at Bradley, distracted from Saran and Mishia a moment. "Thank you," she says softly, a pink flush staining pale cheeks. "Yes, I made it myself, from material I got from that Trader, Miarch." Eyes swivel back to Mishia. "Only two sevevdays?" Bradley offers a sympathetic shake of the head. "Well I guess you'll not have to wear it too long, eh?" Freand pulls a long face. "Disappointing for you. No way to get it white in the laundry?" Such a hopeful lad.... shows he knows more about animals than cloth though. Mishia grins. "Janna, I'd like to think of a way to give it to Ryath and Rowena. And It's not that hard.. Only a handlength or so.." Saran chuckles as he glances down to his chapped hands, "I've been scrubbing the better part of a sevenday, tying to get it clean...white." a shrug as he states, "With any luck..." Mishia looks at Saran. "I wonder.. I've got something you can wash it in.. used it in my guard uniforms." Mau from his perch he peers curiously down at Kenny. Arial materializes out of thin air. Tam materializes out of thin air. Freand turns and goes back to his newly finished robe. Picking it up he decides that now is as good a time as any to try it on... Aspen continues to feed Kenny with absent-minded intentness. Can't have a hungry sheep bawling all over the Sands. Kymra pushes past the heavy curtains and bouncies in from the balcony. Fernox pushes past the heavy curtains and walks in from the balcony. Tam rushes into the room, and then hangs back in the shadows, watching with a smile as history repeats itself from her own impression. Freand pulls and tugs at his robe trying to see if it covers everything decently and doesn't hang like a mistied bale of hay. Fernox tries to sneak in with the rest and looks about in surprise at the huge crowd assembled here. "Bugger, what's all this commotion?" Saran glances over at Mishia, "Would it work ye think?" he wonders legs swinging off his cot as he holds up robe, Glance takes in the fashion show around him, approving and disapproving of fabrics cut and styles. Mishia wraps her tools back up and moves to her footlocker, setting them carefully into the bracket on the side of the inside. Gryphynn rushes in, "I heard we gotta get back here." Tam sighs and glances around the room. "Anyone need help?" she asks solicitously. Saran frowns as he glances up, "Help with what?" he wonders, mind more on the fact of one last washing for his robe... Aspen gives Kenny a bucket of grain and pauses to change while the sheep is thus occupied. Freand frowns as he pulls the cloth to make sure his posterior is covered. "Help? But I have the shardling thing done now." Hearitana eyes the crowds, but doesn't think anyone will notice as she strips down and slips into her robe. Girl has to be fast. Nehyn sends Campos winging off his shoulder. Minothurla says, "Carla! Thierry! Behave, please." Minothurla sighs heavily. She's halfway through changing. "Thierry, dear, please don't touch mama's robe; you've not washed your hands yet. She loops her robe round her neck, slips her arms through, and lets it hang down over her skirt. She frowns at the handprints that mar the fabric, but it can't be helped now." Tam chuckles softly as she glances over at Saran. "I just remember how nervous /I/ was when I was a candidate." Saran arches his brows as he scoffs at that, "You?" he teases as shirt is swaped for robe, seems to be a growing trend...another grimace as he spies another stain left in his other wise well made robe..."Pris." he turns to growl at the vintner, "Ifn you impress an I don't...ye owe me a ride." some threat huh? Aspen sends Horus winging off his shoulder. Impress? Now? Naw!!! Freand was only /trying/ on his robe honest. Jayne wails. "I can't find my sandals /anywhere/" Her search-efforts become frantic. Of course, if she hadn't been ploughing through so much rubbish earlier, they might still be where she left them. Though they could be there now, for all she knows - she can't /remember/ where she left them. Aspen sends Maat winging off his shoulder. You push past the heavy curtains back into the inner cavern. *** Lost in the lag, I make my way to the Hatching ground, since Gryphynn has told me we're to go there via ICQ. TRAVEL SPAM DELETED *** Lower Inner Caverns Saran comes out of the Candidate's Barracks. You head back into the entrance of the lower caverns. Lower Caverns You head up the curved corridor into the main living cavern. Main Living Cavern (#2000) The domed cavern of Bahrain Weyr's living cavern is ever filled with a warm and friendly ambiance. Several ventilation shafts open up at the ceiling to allow the passage of fresh air inside, formed from the natural crevices of the ancient volcano, while the walls are brightly decorated with accented designs from colored cements used to fill in cracks in the stone. The living cavern is filled with stout, highly carved 'tables' where 'riders' and 'weyrfolk' work, talk, and relax. The hearths are accompanied by the occassional 'egg pot' so they are always lit with pots of stew and klah always available, though the klah supply drops dramatically in the mornings. The 'mantle' over the fire is always filled with firelizards eyeing the trays of food that are brought in by the drudges every so often, topped with meatrolls (covered so that the firelizards don't get them), bubblies, and other treats. The bar lies near the hearth, where riders take great advantage of the wines, keeping Bob the bartender quite busy. OOC: Type 'thelp' for help on tables.
You head through the short tunnel into the bowl. Outside the Living Caverns Mishia is here. Mishia heads northward towards the hatching grounds. You head over to the northern end of the bowl, towards the hatching grounds. Northern Bowl You head over to the arched entrance of the hatching grounds. Entrance to the Hatching Grounds The tall archway leads to three long tunnels connected to the spacious cavern that houses the rest of Bahrain Weyr's hatching grounds. Over the turns, various etchings and paintings have been rendered onto the stone walls on both sides and even some on the ceiling. Scenes from Bahrain's past greet the eye, a golden queen hovering over her clutch, clusters of weyrlings strolling off with new found lifemates, and even a painting of Lessa's Impression of Ramoth. The floor of the tunnel entrance has been worn smooth from the passage of millions of feet, both human and draconic. Scattered grains of sand line the sides where newly hatched dragonets exit to start their new lives with their chosen partners. On the sides are the stairs that lead onto the low tiers on the edge of the Sands for visitors to watch a clutch being laid or even a Hatching. People are warned not to enter the sands themselves without permission, or risk being chased off by an irate queen. You see Karal here.
*** View switch to Galleries....Kitiana's POV.... *** Rowena lounges against the railing down near centre of the seating. Eyes are cast outward on the sands as she looks over the eggs quietly. Rhaine ascends the staircase from the Hatching Grounds. Kelen comes in following a Journeyman Kelen 's Journeyman goes and talks to his freinds in a corner. Kelen says, "did I miss anything?" Rhaine seats herself quietly in the back. She pulls a ribbon from her beltpouch and ties her hear back to free her face from obstructions. From the Sands, Aerinth lifts muzzle to the sky and begins a deep-throated, eerie thrumming. They come. They come! Soon! From the Sands, Zivath raises her head, peering at the mounds and mounds of orbs. After a moment, a deep thrum can be heard from fiery gold chest. It is time. Crystal schetchs the Humming dragons and puts them in her book. Browneyes starts humming with the Queens. Talia begins to hum along Ladon looks around from his perch, he sees some familiar faces, but most seem occupied with the hatching. Corman grins sheepishly as he waves over to Calia, brushing his dark hair out of his face. Rowena leans over the rail to give thumbs up to her old pal Muire on
the sands. She wonders if Muire remembers their stolen
Crystal hears a fellow Fortians name and says "Hello Corman"
Calia winks at Corman "Hows the roan? what'd ya name him?" Corman turns and waves. "H'lo, Crystal. Ha' y' met m'sister Torin?" From the Sands, A'razi skirts eggs and queens as he makes his way to the knot of queen riders. Solemnly he offers forth the wineskin he thought to bring. Crystal calls back from the frount row no bring her up here there is room she says Ranra ascends the staircase from the Hatching Grounds. From the Sands, Elisandra looks at A'razi as if he were something akin to a god... "Oh, Razi! You are such a thoughtful darling..." Can you say, she's a /tad/ dry? Corman nods. He turns to Calia. "I named m' Steadfast. C'mon, Torin." He grabs his sister's hand and drags her to Crystal. Calia grins as she watches Corman drag Torin off From the Sands, A'razi laughs softly. "What else is a Weyrsecond good for on Hatching day?" Miakoda moves over to make room for the ever growing crowd, keeping
a small ear on the conversations floating nearest her,
Torin is dragged to meet Crystal. :) From the Sands, Muireann returns the gesture, sending a broad wink Row-wards as well. Oh she remembers, she does. And that was the prettiest egg ever, so it was. But now it's not F'op-egg that worries her; it's the squillions of the little devils that even now are beginning to rock-rock-rock away. She leans against Aerinth for support and regards the impending chaos with a watery smile. Crystal is drawing the sceane as Corman and his sis come up. From the Sands, Elisandra peers to the sands from next to the looming form of living fire. "Hatching... I think stampede may be appropriate." Corman grins. "H'lo, Crystal. This is m'older sister Torin. Torin, this is Fort Hold Messenger Crystal." Ranra walks in timidly. She looks so very tired, but she perks ever so slightly when she sees the eggs and dragons on the grounds. Looking around ferverently for a signs of candidates, mainly one certain candidate, she slowly takes a seat. Crystal smiles "please to meet you. From the Sands, Zivath snorts. Says you. My babies will be the /good/looking ones. Torin smiles and offers her hand to Crystal. "Well met. I hope Corman's been good." She winks. Crystal smiles "yes and a little two truthful" she says with a laught From the Sands, A'razi eyes the eggs himself. "Aye, but who'll stampede? The hatchlings? Or the Candidates?" Torin turns and glares at her brother. From the Sands, Timoth rumbles rather proudly. Yep. Zivath's /will/ be lovely. From the Sands, Virgin Snow Egg rocks, it does; shimmying it's little virginal self in a coquettish dance. Mhairi grins at her friends and returns Rowena's salute before plonking
herself on an empty part of a bench and encircles her legs with her arms,
she hugs her knees to her chest, her heels resting on the edge of the bench.
She grins "Hello Calia." and then eyes go to watch the action on
the sands.
Danallia glances down with interest now, as some of the dragons begin to interact and eggs begin to move. But then haughty guard mask slips back in place. She's here to bring a certain candidate home...... Ladon watchs the Snow egg curiously. This is his first hatching and he is not sure what to expect From the Sands, Ailheen walks onto the sands from the entrance. From the Sands, C'zar saunters onto the sands from the entrance. Ranra rubs her hands on ther thighs, trying to get all the sweat off. She's nervous, to say the least- but not for herself, it looks like. She sees the egg on the sands rock, and shivers run down her back. Nothing on Pern like a Hatching. Nothing. Miakoda shifts her position a bit to get more comfortable, large eyes never moving from the scene in front of her. Corman turns from the sands to ogle the ladies. Calia waves Amalthia over and grins at her then turns her attention to the sands From the Sands, Aspen walks onto the sands from the entrance. Torin nudges her elbow sharply in her brother's ribs. Rhaine diverts her eyes from the many other eggs to the one that's chosen to start it's jittery dance. She bites her lip and holds her breath in anticipation. Amalthia comes in slowly, looking for Calia. When she sees her, she moves over to her and sits down on the empty seat next to her. "Hey, Calia." she says softly. Leaning over to watch, Kitiana hopes and prays for her friend Janna. Corman looks to his sister to ask what, colors, then watches the sands again. From the Sands, Minothurla walks onto the sands from the entrance. Caitlin ascends the staircase from the Hatching Grounds. From the Sands, Freand walks onto the sands from the entrance. Calia smiles at Amathia and whispers "Hi Amalthia! shards girl you should eat more! you look tired and weak." From the Sands, Tropical Moonlight Egg shudders convulsively, quivering movements making even the shell ripple. But of course such a hard surface was not ment for that and minute straitions appear twix the moonbeams. From the Sands, Jayne tugs at a lumpy blonde braid. Ugh. She's not ready yet. Couldn't the eggs have waited? She catches the shoulder of her robe on a snag that juts from the tunnel wall, tearing the thing. "Shards!" Of course, the other sleeve fell off back in the barracks. And sandals? They're MIA. From the Sands, Priscila leaps sedately onto the sands from the entrance. Kelen chuckles at Jayne's misfortune. Caitlin smiles and nods at the gathering and they eyes widen and she grins broadly and attempts to clamber her way over Rowena way and see if she can squeeze into a spot next to her. From the Sands, Ailheen takes a deep breath and bows to the great dragons and riders alike as she reaches the blisteringly heated sands. Ranra sees the next aroused egg, and rubs an itch on the bridge of her freckled nose. Turning her attention back to the eggs, she leans back, closes her eyes, and takes a deep breath to calm herself. She has to concentrate and hope for her friend with /all/ her strength. From the Sands, Aspen bows neatly to the queens, the bronzes, the riders, all the while managing to keep himself between the hungry looking dragons and Kenny. Rowena shoves and wiggles crowded as she is trying to free up a spot for CAit et al. Just because she came early she got one of the best spots in the house for seeing down into the sands and sharing it with her old Mater sounds good to her. "Cait! Over here!" From the Sands, Muireann continues to lean against Aerinth, closing her eyes for just a moment, senses dulled by the sopoforic thrumming that reverberates through the caverns. But she wouldn't want to miss the first birth... "Hey Elisa!" She calls over. "2 marks says the first one to hatch is green!" Brekka looks around uncertainly for Caitlin and Rowena her eyes searching over the crowds From the Sands, Freand tosses his head back almost like a well trained runner as he strides out onto the sands. Hopefully all his posturing will hide the nervous wobble of his knees and the shaking of his hands. From the Sands, Nehyn stumbles out into the heat and haze of the Sands, managing a bow to the collection of golds and bronzes gathered. Distracted, he looks around, trying to spot Kymra. She's got to be here in the crowd somewhere. From the Sands, Minothurla fluffs at her heat-frizzed curls, then makes an awkward curtsey to dams and sires before finding her place n the line. Anxious eyes turn upward toward the galleries to see if she can catch a glimpse of her children. From the Sands, Janna walks swiftly and silently onto the sands from the entrance. From the Sands, K'pan watches the proceedings with pride. Calia grins and elbows Amalthia "Their's Journeyman Freand! Caitlin grins and nods and slips into the space that has been cleared for her. One hand waves at Brekka, the other arm slips around Row for a gentle squeeze of hello "Hello dear, great spot." Eyes go to eggs taht move on the sands, her eyes glitter with excitement. From the Sands, Eldana walks out onto the sands. She stands dazed a moment. She's been here before, but it was quiet during the egg touchings. Remembering the recent instructions she dips her head and body to each of the queens and sires before moving further onto the hot sands. She's lost sight of Saran, and where's Kym. Kym'll know what to do. From the Sands, C'zar ushers the mass of candidates in, wishing them well before moving off to the side. From the Sands, Mishia walks onto the sands from the entrance. From the Sands, Jayne's bow to the collected clutchsires and dams is more a hippity hop than any sort of deeply respectful gesture; her feet are roasted through already. "Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow." She makes her way to her place in the semi-circle, protesting all the way. Just her luck to pick /now/ to misplace something as important as sandals. From the Sands, Kymra steps onto the sands, wrinkling her nose at the grains 'neath her feet. But that hardly holds he attention for long; spying the eggs, she limits her gazes to a few sneaking glances, then drops into a bow from the dams and sires. From the Sands, Gryphynn bounces happily as he walks onto the sands from the entrance. From the Sands, Hearitana arrives on the sands, looking bewildered, dark eyes wide in her darker face. Bobbing bows to golds, their mates, and riders of the crowd of dragons, she nearly falls over in nervousness. From the Sands, Freand manages to trip, stumble then right himself face flushed before he stops near Aspen and apes his singular poise and style bowing in turn to each one of the beautiful queen's and their lifemates as well as the sires and theirs. Rowena offers her old Master a wink. "Well only t'best ya know." Row has a habit of claiming that for sure. "Good view from here an lots ta see. I hope ya brung yer patience it looks like a long one with all these eggs ta hatch." From the Sands, Fairelly sketches a nervous bow to the four queens and the array of sires before quickly latching on to Minothurla and unconsciously reaching for the older woman's hand. From the Sands, Arial strolls nonchalantly onto the sands from the entrance. Brekka sees Caitlins wave and weaves her way through the crowd looking for a place to sit nearby, she finds one behind Caitlin and Rowena and sits down looking out over the sands From the Sands, Jewels on Velvet Egg twitches testingly. From the Sands, A'razi grins at Muireann. "I'll take that bet! 2 marks says the first one out is blue!" From the Sands, Curious Kitten Egg wriggles softly, as if chasing after a ball of yarn within. From the Sands, Tam finally emerges and inhales softly at the incredible heat. She sees her brown coddling Zivath and makes her way over to him and her, standing by Elisa. She glances over at Muire and shakes her head. "2 marks says it's a bronze!" she counters. From the Sands, Minothurla regards all with unperturbed complacency; arms at sides, feet steady in her thick-soled sandals, despite the heat. A faint smile is turned to Fairelly as she clasps the girl's hand and gives it a squeeze. "Are you alright, dear?" From the Sands, Tropical Moonlight Egg wavers once again, as if paradise has been lashed by wind and storm. The palm upon it's rounded surface bends far back, pulling appart from the beach beneath. Caitlin shakes her head at the wink "Well of course you cannot offer your old master anything less than the best anyway." She grins "Well I have patience,I don't know how my apprentice will hold out though." Kelen wishes that this would HURRY up. From the Sands, Ailheen watches the eggs, nearly frozen give the nervous shaking of her body. From the Sands, Priscila is Here. Yay. Cheer. Praise at will. All that good stuff. Vintner scoots forward, makes her bows, muttering about 'hothothot', and scoots back into place. From the Sands, "Nen!" Kym calls over the generally hushed murmer of nervous Candidates, a little jittery herself. "Where are ya?" Get over to where she is, shardit, so she can hide behind ya. Spying Eldana, she gives another little wave. "C'mere!" Gathering the faithful. Brekka looks at Caitlin with a question in her eyes "What do you mean?" From the Sands, Muireann crows. "Done!" Now just to hope she's right. Rowena leans back to give Brekke another sassy wink. "Think ya kin keep up with us old un's lass?" Ranra grins at the betting going on, and watches the eggs dance.
She looks around her, trying to point out any good friend, but none are
here- yet. She wipes her sweaty plams again, and bites her lip. Crosses
her legs... then switches them. Then switches them again in vain efforts
to make herself a little more comfortable.
Mhairi rocks slightly on her perch, eyes glued to the eggs, occasionally glancing at familar faces on the sands, but she doesn't wave to them knowing that they are too distracted anyway. From the Sands, Nehyn finally spots Kymra and picks his way through the assemblage to her. "Hey you. How's that lucky robe of yours?" he asks her with a nudge before selfconsciously tugging at his own--rather short--robe. After flashing a grin at Eldana, who's near too, he turns to face the rocking eggs. From the Sands, Fernox gets carried along with the wave of other Candidates, he barely keeps upright in the huge press of people rushing onto the Sands. He looks up and gulps loudly, at least to his own ears, for he finds himself directly in front of the dragon queens. Quickly, he bows, though the movement has none of the usual suave poise he presents. Caitlin smiles at Brekka and laughs "Ye of little patience." She smiles at Rowena and then turns back to the sand sto look at the candidates gathering. Brekka grins and nods winking back "Why shore thing Row, in fact I probably could outdo ya both!" she giggles and mimiks Row's accent From the Sands, Aspen twines the finger of one hand into the wool atop Kenny's head. "We'll just stay right here and watch everything." No way either of these two will Impress. Kelen runs into a wall (on purpose) so hard that he falls and passes out. From the Sands, Fairelly quakes noticalby, but she beams at Minothurla, "Aye." From the Sands, Gryphynn runs out onto the sands and almost falls as he stops short and bows to the riders and dragons. From the Sands, Kymra bouncies onto the sands from the entrance. Vanetin gives a little sigh.. Ladon glances at kelen and chuckles From the Sands, Mishia rushes in almost headlong, her arms and legs pumping smoothly, a headband tied tightly at her brow. From the Sands, Eldana gives a sigh of relief and a shakey grin and hotfoots it -- literally -- over to Kym, feet in thin sandals, slipping and sliding on the sand. Loose strands of already sweat-damp hair are brushed off her forehead as she comes to a halt near her friends, "Hot!" The girl has a penchant for stating the obvious for sure. Danallia leans forward in her position, attempting to remain cool an collected, although a frission of excitement runs under her skin. Mouth opens to call out to one of the candidates, but she pulls back, refraining. Rowena grins at Brekka even as she snorts. She may be older but she is getting worse... old age and treachery you know.... Pansy eyes dance back to the sands. "So whatcha bettin on will hatch first, ladies?" Ranra smiles with the entrance of Gryph, but wonders where her favorite Candidate is... could he be asleep? Naw... not with the Weyr like this. Sick maybe? By the shards of Faranth's egg, she hopes not. From the Sands, Saran grips 'Dana's hand tightly as he rocks back on his heels...sandals strapped on along the way somehow. Plucking self-consciously at his robe, wondering suddenly if there hadn't been a mistake...a low, flourishing bow offered to the queens...pausing as he turns, making each greeting distinct. Vanetin walks over, almost absently, to stand with Caitlin, Rowena, and Brekka From the Sands, Rukar pounces happily onto the sands from the entrance. From the Sands, Gryphynn notices the eggs starting to twitch and moves over with a couple of other young boys, and turns and watches the eggs nervously. Brekka giggles at Caitlin From the Sands, Janna bows upon entering the Sands, and she bows to the queens and sires, beginning with Fabrinath and Korinth, and the riders, ending with Muireann and M'ars. A nod and a murmered, "Weyrleader K'pan, Weyrwoman Sabria," and Janna makes her dazed way over to the knot of Candidates already on the Sands. From the Sands, Kymra promptly sticks out her tongue at Nehyn, unladylike a possible. And this is Eldana's role model? Waggling fingers, she motions towards an almost unoccupied space in the Sands. If you count nearly twenty fingerlengths as unoccupied. "Fine," she snaps back. "And yours?" She attempts to peer a the tail end of Nen's robe, shuffling feet all the while. Caitlin smiles and points at the snow white egg "Well that one was looking
fit to burst but now that one looks like it is wanting to be first."
She points at the tropical moonlight egg.
From the Sands, Mishia almost skids to a halt on the hot sands, nearly falling upon her bum. She comes to a stand, and tries to straighten out, bowing to the dragons and saluting the riders. Brekka grins at Rowena "I think the one colored Harper blue will hatch first." From the Sands, A gaggle of nervous Candies form a separate group, squawking and chattering to eath other to the exclusion of all others. From the Sands, Hot! Indeed it is. Freand feels the soles of his sandals heating up beneath him and he shifs from foot to foot trying to find an inconspicous place to hide his 6'2" length. From the Sands, Kenny the Candidate walks onto the sands from the entrance. Vanetin, hearoing Brekka's comment, smiles and chucklesa a bit... From the Sands, Tam minces her feet and sighs in slight irritation and pain at the heat. She /definitely/ remembers this part. Rhaine darts her eyes about the sands between candidates and egg piles. So many things to watch. Nervously she twirls a long blond curl about her fingers. Rowena nodnods. "Blue seems ta be the favourite. I heard Razz bet t'first would be blue too." Shake of the head answers CAit. "An eggs will rock an roll until ya don't know which one will pop or how they kin stand all that shakin afore they do." Vanetin smiles at the antics of all the candies From the Sands, Hearitana sways gently onto the sands from the entrance. From the Sands, Pausing in her slow progress across Sand's heat, Janna looks out across the sea of faces staring out at her from the Galleries. Locating the knot of Healers by their purple robes, she waves wildly before continuing. Brekka grins at Row "The egg is a true harper its waiting patiently
to go first."
From the Sands, A'razi glances amusedly at Tam, comfortable in sturdy boots. From the Sands, From the corner of her eye, Janna catches motion. Her egg..it moved. Gaze is riveted on the egg before she's rudely pushed from behind, and she stumbles forward a few steps. Glaring at the errant Candie, she searches the crowd for Mishia and Gryphynn. Vanetin smiles, "It's a Harper's job to be first. From the Sands, C'zar motions for a group that is hanging back to move along, "Get in there with the rest of em!". The timidly scurry forward to bow awkwardly to the dragons. From the Sands, Hot. Janna shifts her feet a moment before violet gaze goes back to that egg, the one with the sparkling jewels on it. Rowena softly snorts. "Who kin tell? Razz is happy ta have Tylenth but... Aspen is a bit longer in the tooth an... a Master ta boot.... still they'll find some way ta adjust I'm sure." Pansy eyes grow a little misty pleased that her brother has the knack of keeping his life going through thick and thin unlike herself. From the Sands, Hearitana hotsteps it, almost shimmering like a mirage that she almost seems to blink in and out. "Shards! It is hotter than before?" Mhairi is glad her feet are out of the way, no one can step on them as they squeeze past her, From the Sands, Nehyn clears his thought softly, the sound lost entirely in the noise and space of the cavern. "Oh, it's fine. Very cool." And breezy. He shifts slightly, letting one sandal cool while the other one heats up. "Jays, no wonder the eggs are hatching. I'll bet the dragonets will be as anxious as we are to get where it's cooler." From the Sands, Gryphynn tries to wave to Janna through the huge crowd of candidate, but gives up as he thinks he sees the eggs twitch again. From the Sands, Fairelly skips and hops, not out of joy but because of the heat... the side benefit of this activity is to burn off nervous energy. And how does Mino react to the bouncing girl beside her? From the Sands, Tam refrains from glaring at A'razi and instead smiles wanely at C'zar. This, she knows, is only the beginning for the weyrlingmaster. She pulls her hair up off her neck, tying it back with a leather thong as she gazes out over the myriad of eggs and sea of white robed candidates. From the Sands, Freand manages to find a spot behind a large gaggle of gigglng females. None of them tall enough to obstruct his view but... dense enough to make him feel somewhat inconspiuous. Ranra thinks on the idea of a harper egg. A She wonders, with
her mind tuned to Music, if that dragon would sing? Maybe in a concert?
But of course it would have to be outdoors...
From the Sands, Minothurla is stoic, calm, one with the sands... Ommmm... Either that, or she's just used to people hippity-hopping all around her. She squeezes Fairelly's hand again and gives the girl a fond smile. "It's exciting, isn't it?" Torin looks up at Calia. "Huh? Oh, no. You haven't.
Some of the eggs have rocked, but that's about it."
From the Sands, Feeling rather awkward suddenly in her slant-hemmed robe, Eldana tugs on the short side a couple times, then shakes her head and with a silly grin lifts the left side up to match the other. Heat pouring up from the sands reminds her to shift her feet, "So we wait 'n' then get out o' the way iffn it looks like we're goin' to be trampled?" She asks of her fellows who've been here before. Calia nods and smiles looking back down at the sands "Thanks Torin." From the Sands, Arial settles next to Tam on the Sands and beams at the candidates, remembering her time on there and the burns that came after. Good sturdy boots encase her feet now, thank faranth. Rowena snorts again. "Don't bet on it Master. Ya can't afford to lose." Still eyes of amethyst hue are full of fond memories and love for the woman at her side. From the Sands, Mishia marches.. her feet moving rather high so they cool as the next foot steps, looking a bit ridiculous as she moves to Janna's side. "Hi Jan.. Sorry I'm late." From the Sands, Saran plucks at his robe, rocking from foot to foot as sweat has him losing his grip on fellow candidate...who will protect him now?...Eyes are pinned by rocking eggs as crowd parts in front of him, giving Saran his first view of the rocking eggs. From the Sands, C'zar looks nervous, anxious..you'd almost think he was one of the candidates. A tense smile goes towards Tam as he reaches to squeeze her hand briefly, "Shards...seems no time at all since we wus out here as candidates." From the Sands, Curious Kitten Egg rocks again.....was that a meow? But suddenly, it stills. From the Sands, Was that Gryphynn she just spotted, way over there? Stepping carefully, Janna makes her way across the Sands in quick little steps, one eye on the eggs, the other looking out to where she /might/ have seen the burly Harper. Ranra snorts. Nothing except it's rider in trouble would scare a dragon.
From the Sands, Kymra chuckles quietly in agreement. "Aye. And to think -- we'll be stuck out here until alla them hatch." Uggh. Kym doesn't even wanna ponder it. From the Sands, Tam reaches out to grasp C'zar's hand and then turns her head to grin at Arial. "Here again," she murmurs happily. Gee. Sands not as hot anymore. ;-) From the Sands, Was that another twitch? Peering through the shimmering heat haze as if in a dream, Janna stops her progress for a moment, and stares harder at the eggs. Too hard to tell through the shimmering air. Caitlin grins at Rowena and shakes her head "Well it seems to have worked so far but it doesn't stop my apprentices from being search, no matter how I stare." She grins at the green rider beside her "They wouldn't listen to me when I demanded that they send you back." She glances up at Brekka and smiles and then back at the sands to see if any eggs have cracks in them. From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles at the eggs, but then turns to look at one of the ones that isn't moving. As he shifts his gaze he notices Janna and waves, but is distracted again as the kitten egg moves. From the Sands, Wildflower Meadow Egg trembles a bit more, caught in the hollow that is its current home. Well... maybe this is a nice place to be anyway. From the Sands, Jewels on Velvet Egg ripples, causing it's hidden jewels to twinkle on and off like miniature stars. From the Sands, Fairelly nods eagerlly, her curls bouncing in time to her bouncing. "Aye, Mino. Tis terribly excitin'." And words can't describe her joy, her excitement, her nervousness, so instead, she bounces all the more. From the Sands, Hearitana looks up with wide eyes, hiding just behind the broad shoulder of some handsome farmboy. "Did you see that?" she asks. "They're moving!" Like, what else could one expect? From the Sands, Eldana pauses in her foot-hopping, seeming to remember something and her eyes begin a careful search of white robes. Her neck cranes this way and that, but it's hopeless. She jumps up and down a couple times and finally just settles for yelling, "Saran! O'er here! Saran!" Maybe he can find her. From the Sands, Minothurla smiles and chuckles, looking back out at the collection of eggs. Rowena steals a peek at the sands before twisting to catch and return Brekka's wink. "Well that's cuz m'brother is stubbon ya know.... an not to sensible, awantin me ta stand cause that green of his wanted it so." Not that Row is complaining,, her own dear green's touch feather light and well loved in her head. From the Sands, Oooo, they'ar /all/ moving! Well, maybe not all, but...there...the jeweled egg...it /did/ move. With bated breath, Janna stares at the egg, then her eye is caught by a twitch here, a quiver there... Vanetin starts to contemplate... the railing isn't too high to jump... she abruptly shakes her head, startling those near her, no that'd be a bagd idea.. From the Sands, The fronds of the palmtree upon the Tropical Moonlight Egg tremble, as if with the approach of a coming storm. The shell cracks, but doesn't shatter, instead only part of it falls off, and out slips the birthdamp Skewed Cubist dragonet, peering at a new world. From the Sands, Skewed Cubist Dragonet From the Sands, Matte grey blue, a dusty, almost colourless shade, encapsulates a form that offers only a passing nod to normal dragonet proportions. Jagged ridges slope with crazed irregularity down to the cornflower bloom of withers, where they suddenly smooth atop a barrel-chested, wide-winged torso, then slink to near nothingness along the stark glacial length of his whiplike tail. His heavy-jawed head perches precariously atop a spidery, attenuated neck. That frail length juxtaposed with jutting brows, a blunt, almost square nose and broad, flat-planed features suggests at both daintiness and brawn; a pardox that defines him. Vanetin contents herself with watching. From the Sands, Freand begins what he hopes is a quiet shift from foot to foot trying to ease the pain in his feet. Stupid sandals not nearly thick enough. From the Sands, A'razi looks over at Muire and Tam triumphantly. "Ah! A blue, a lovely /blue/!" Vanetin gasps and points, elbowing Brekka, "It's Hatching!" she whispers! Ranra bows her head as shivers run down her back with the twitching and quivering of the eggs. She'll never get over this feeling wonderful feeling of happiness and fright as the egg erupts and a dragonet falls out. From the Sands, Prestorm Gales Egg shifts ever so slightly, the storm slowly building. From the Sands, Elisandra oooh and beams. "Tam, look! Blue... Isn't he lovely?" Zivath hmmms. Maybe. "You're lovely, too. In a grown up sort of way." Oh, well then! *preeeenhummmmmm* From the Sands, Saran inches his way towards voice calling his name, surely friend who'll protect him...a smile as he pauses to give another candidate a hopeful hug, then another, she was cuddly...coming up beside Eldana just as first shell cracks his breath stops...and then starts again. From the Sands, Gryphynn gasps as he sees one of the eggs hatch, revealing a blue. He gets bumped to the side by a group of candidates that rush forward to look at the hatchling. He smiles and stands nervously watching, Could this be the one? Caitlin smiles at her friend, and former pupil and the cheers distract
her before she can answer and eyes go to greet the new hatchling and she
crows in delight and looks at the apprentices "A Harper Blue indeed, go
harpers." She shakes her head at her excitement, one cannot get used
to it, it is always a new feeling watching.
From the Sands, Jayne leans over, teetering, and clutching at a nearby candidate's shoulder as she tries to spare at least one of her feet. "Why aren't we allowed to wear boots out here?" Her voice is plaintive, cause dangit! Her feet are blistered sore. She doesn't expect an answer to that question; not really. Then the first-hatched catches her attention; a blue! He's kinda funny-looking though. From the Sands, Ailheen gasps, "A blue, a lovely blue." she utters, shifting on the hot sands. Teras of delight and longing begin to stream, unheeded, down Vanetin's
cheeks.
From the Sands, Nehyn's breath catches in a gasp, and he elbows Kymra sharply. "Kym! Look! A blue!" Don't ever say this fellow doesn't have a good grasp of the obvious. Caitlin grins at Rowena and smiles and murmurs "Remind me not to get into a dragon poker game with him." She smiles and watches the hatchling, waiting to see who it will pick. From the Sands, C'zar gulps, shards, /so/ many eggs. Dark eyes shift among the masses of candidates, he remembers being there himself. To his left a tall candidate begins to dance about on the hot sand, robe flapping. Vanetin's breathing and heart stop as she waits to see who the little blue will pick. Brekka chuckles at Rowena and nudges her "What do you expect?" From the Sands, Mishia swallows hard. "Incredible.." She whispers reverently. From the Sands, Skewed Cubist Dragonet defies all convention, his limbs floundering in every which way as he struggles upright out of his egg. But once upon his feet, a curious grace appears. Though what seem to be bizare angles for his legs to go appear to only be an illusion of shaded blue hide. Quickly, he scrambles over the sands, head looking back and forth in the path of so many anxiously awaiting him and his brethren! From the Sands, Eldana comes to an abrupt halt and her mouth drops open. Blindly she searches for Kym with her right hand, the one not occupied in making her hemline even. "Kym. Kym." Her hand bats around in the air near Kym, "Kym." Skip, skip, skip, her needle's stuck. She shakes her head and gets going again, "It's a dragonet. It's a blue!" From the Sands, Prestorm Gales Egg shivers slightly, a premonition of the storm within. But it's not time... not yet. From the Sands, Wildflower Meadow Egg rocks a bit in the sands, not exactly thrilled with its hollow home. A bump against a neighbor pauses it's advance. Where to, no one knows. Rowena's drawl is non committal. She learned years ago her luck had to be made and was never as good as her brothers. "I expect the thing will impress one of them candidates down there." From the Sands, Jewels on Velvet Egg shudders again, seeming to swell up like a wave about to break, enlarged and engorged in velvet tsunami. From the Sands, Saran standing behind the girl's...ah, human shield...good idea. Saran's eyes widen as he takes in the throngs of candidates...all whose attention is drawn to the first cracked egg, though more are following. From the Sands, Kymra peers, jabbing at Nehyn with a finger. "Look! Blue!" She's always been good at stating the obvious, no? "Rather pretty, no?' She considers the dragonet, prodding at the other Candidate again. 'Warn me if a bronze comes my way." From the Sands, Tam sighs and glances over at A'razi with a grimace. From the Sands, Gryphynn briefly glances to the other eggs, but can't keep his eyes from the blue for long. He smiles and watches with awe, shuffling his arms as others try to bump him again. From the Sands, Janna looks over at Mishia gratefully. "That's ok mish..look, though. The egg, the jeweled one..it's really moving!" Her face has paled even more, and eyes blaze darkly as she smiles at her friend, and offers her hand. Ranra listens to those around her for a moment. Wouldn't the dragonets
only Impress those on the sands? She looks at the eggs, trying to predict
the next hatchling. Maybe the Jeweled egg? she muses.
From the Sands, Jayne captures a braid and chews thoughtfully on one end as she regards the little blue as he traverses the sands. But her eyes go all funny if she looks at him for too long, so she shakes her head to clear it and turns her attention to some of the eggs nearest the clot of candidates. From the Sands, Mishia grins a bit, and nods to Janna. "I know.. it's incredible.." She takes her hand gently. "Good luck, Jan." From the Sands, Tam glances back at Elisandra and tries not ot make a face. "Ummm....yes. He's....lovely," she sort of agrees with her. Torin looks away briefly to wave to Am'ly. From the Sands, Eldana's eyes can't focus on one object. Swirling white robes, hopping curiously, eggs twitching here and there, a blue dragonet suddenly on the sands. She senses Saran near and drops the edge of her robe, batting around behind her, "Saran! Look! The meadow egg moved!" From the Sands, Jewels on Velvet egg is torn asunder! Showering sparkling shards all around, a dark carpet forms below into a loving cradle upon which is displayed the green gem that has been hiding within for so long. From the Sands, The Art of the Fugue Dragonet From the Sands, Intricately laced patterns of tourmaline, jade, and aquamarine repeat in endless descant over beryl's soothing basso hue, then deepens downward to the darker, arrowed line of her belly. Her tapered head is almost equine in shape, becoming the point of her lean, slender length and dominated by the faceted whirling of jeweled eyes, complimented by the polish of her peridot ridges and talons. Huge wings, veined with a subtle feathering of malachite, arch in graceful double curves on either side. Serpentine grace and muscle compact into a lean missile frame, sweeping the curves from neck to long prehensile tail with the full spectrum of green in ordered display. From the Sands, Nehyn ows as he's poked. Ow ow. "Kym, quit it. If I could, I'd /make/ a bronze come over here, and maybe that'd make you quit poking me!" He rubs his side gingerly, glancing around. Sure, he'll be first to run if a bronze does head this direction. From the Sands, Prestorm Gales Egg swells larger, the storm inside building. How long can the frail shell last? From the Sands, Muireann blinks. Hole-ly Faranth. That poor critter is definitely not one of Aerinth's; she pats the gold comfortingly. Then a wry grin is tossed at 'Raz. "Aye, aye, aye. Ye'll get yer marks." Shells. Corman looks up in time to notice a certain someone. He nudges his sister. "Yer harper's here." From the Sands, Ailheen grins, still shifting, of course, as she spots the green, "Lovely.." she whispers. Torin looks over and waves to Catasothra. From the Sands, Saran leans over Eldana's shoulder to follow her her excited pointing to colorful egg, "Aye...so why don't ye go stand next to it." he teases with a slight nudge to her back, he'll follow along...promise. From the Sands, Mishia swallows hard. "Good luck, Janna. You deserve it.." Her hand doesn't squeeze, even though she looks like she would. Despite all her military reserve and toughness, she is nervous, but not scared. This won't scare this guard.. Will it? Ranra nods. A green, and a beauty at that. She'd always admired greens,
but they can be so proddy sometimes. She muses that maybe some day she'd
Impress, but she turns to see Catasothra enter. She waves, her attention
off the egg for only a second before it returns.
From the Sands, Hearitana's eyes go wide as dragons seem to be popping out all over the place. "But-but they were so nice and /still/ before!" She's taken care of the children too many times. From the Sands, Skewed Cubist Dragonet's oddly angled eyes pick up a sudden movement, a headshake. He squeels as he bounces his way across the Sand, dodging white clad bodies who quickly lunge out of his path as he zeros in a lass with braided hair. From the Sands, C'zar gently nudges Tam, pointing towards the incredibly lovely green, "Shells but she's a beauty!". Caitlin smiles and nudges Rowena "So beautiful, such a blend of colours." She could wax lyrical, she is a harper after all but a hatching always seems to make her lose her words. She smiles broadly instead and murmurs "Bringing back any happy memories?" From the Sands, Kymra quirks a quick smile to Eldana, offering her hand. Watchit -- she squeezes rather hard, when nervous. Or excited. Or both. Catasothra makes his way to his love and takes a nearby seat. From the Sands, Virgin Snow Egg twitches just so, teasing. But it's just not ready to go /that/ far yet. From the Sands, Nehyn gasps as another hatchling emerges, and--despite what he just warned Kymra not to do--nudges her again. "Oh, Kym, look at that green! Do you think that robe of yours will lure it in this direction?" He'll steal it, in that case. Iona ascends the staircase from the Hatching Grounds.
From the Sands, Janna gasps. "Mishia! Gryph! It Hatched. And it's blue!" She smiles at the Harper, who ought to be looking..after all, 'tis the Harper color! Eyes are inexorable drawn to that bejeweled shell, however, and Janna watches, softly reminding herself to 'breathe'. Iona sits wearily on the seat and watches the sands. From the Sands, Curious Kitten Egg wriggles more, twisting and turning, possibly yowling too, but the candidates are too loud to hear. Cracks continue to fissure, but nothing more. Am'ly's chest heaves only slightly as she ascends to the tiers, oceanic green eyes squinting in contrast from the bright sunshine. First hatching since Cioranth became hers, quite a step, and she steps towards a few familiar faces. From the Sands, The Art of the Fugue Dragonet tosses her dainty head, stretching one wing, and then the other. Tail-tip twitches and she moves, off her velvet carpet and onto warm sands, testing this way and that, moving towards the Candidates in serpentine waves, stopping occasionally to inspect another egg, or a person, or an old shard... Rowena's eyes are riveted to the green on the sands. Nearly as pretty as her own beloved Ryath she is. A swallow moves the lump in her throat around as she manages a nod trying to hide two crystal drops as they shimmer in her pansy soft eyes. "Aye." From the Sands, Wildflower Meadow Egg moves again, with more energy now, but still getting about as far. Weebles wobble but they don't fall down. They don't get very far, either. From the Sands, Jayne blinks again at the blue, who's suddenly so close. But as eye-twisting as he is, there's something... intriguing about him, even so. "H'lo there," she mutters around a mouthful of braid. Miakoda wriggles her way down towards the front without so much as a 'pardon me' to those she ungraciously shoves past. All attention is, for the moment, focused on seeing as much as possible. From the Sands, Tam sighs at the appearance of the green dragonet. She angles her head to C'zar and chuckles softly. "Yes, she is, love. Very dainty." From the Sands, Two more eggs hatch in quick succession, a brown and a green tumble out. The green makes her way to a large harper lass and the brown to a smith who promptly breaks into tears. Impression. From the Sands, Kymra smirks at Nen, chuckling quietly. "Ohh...See that green?" Kym likes. Over she peers, studying the newly hatched dragonet. 'Whadda you think of her?" She ignores the jibe at her bronzely robe, watching quietly. For now. From the Sands, Blue! Green! Feet hurt and Ferand's motion becomes a hop skip sidle as he tries to watch both dragons at the same time. From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles as another hatches and whistles at the beautiful hatchling and then gazes back to the blue, are either heading his way? From the Sands, Spellbound, Janna stares at the occupant of that jeweled egg. A green! And /such/ a green! Wordless, Janna shifts from foot to foot, since she forgot to benumb them in her hurry. My, such a dazzling display. And the wingspread! Vanetin'es eyes widen as the two dragonets bowl through their impression, oh, how wonderful! From the Sands, Odd angles and disproportions mean naught as a pair is forever sealed together. The Skewed Cubist Dragonet arrives at her feet, looking up into her eyes and chooses, yes Impresses... Jayne! Ranra feels her hands get a little more sweaty. Shards! She has to stop being so nervous. She's not even on the sands for Faranth's sake! She leans over to inspect the dragonets hatching left and right. From the Sands, Eldana tears her eyes from the egg just long enough to toss a look and a wrinkling of her nose to Saran -- and leave her safe spot? Not a chance. Besides, she's grabbed Kym's hand with hers and won't let go. "Nay, stay here, Saran, please? It be nice here." Nice? Her feet are burning and she shifts her weight again. From the Sands, Mishia nods almost unaware, dancling slightly as the sands heat her sandled feet. She whispers, "Good luck, Janna.." Caitlin pats the green rider on the arm and then blue eyes sparkle as they search out the next likely egg. Eyes alight on one which trembles and then on another which seems to have fissures in its sides. She smiles at the candidates, moving from nervousness and to relieve the burning on their soles and she smiles almost knowingly though a sigh does escape her lips. She grins and claps her hands at the impression "That was quick, it certainly knew its mind." From the Sands, Nehyn ducks behind Kymra--at least, as well as a man of his height can, while keeping tabs on his robe's short hemline in back. "She'll go for you, I'm sure--oh! The blue picked Jayne!" And he points though the crowd. From the Sands, Jayne gapes, and the saliva-soaked braid end falls wetly from her wide-open mouth. "Calamityth? Calamityth? Oh shards! You wonderful thing." And as she bends down to hug the dragonet, she trips. Typical. From the Sands, Hearitana eyes the pairs as they are made. Still, she she hides. "My feet are hot!" No kidding? From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles as he watches impression after impression, and sighs softly as the blue picks another. He turns and smiles remembering that there are more eggs. From the Sands, Fernox tears his eyes away from the scene of Jayne and her new companion blue. He claimed for so long that he did not wish to be here, but rather back in the guard at Fort, but who can resist the emotions of watching a newly Impressed pair? "Congrats!" he calls over to the new weyrling, a touch of something, he fears it's jealousy, creeps over him for a moment. Iona chuckles softly, watching the chaos on the sands. "Well, better get my bandages and salves in order, that's for sure." From the Sands, Saran chuckles as he shifts from foot to foot, sandal aloft as he shakes rope and leathers away from skin...allowing a cooling breeze to slip through sandals weavings before switching feet for same treatment, "Ye mean yer not t'bait?" he whispers, reaching out to grip her shoulder before his eyes catch Jayne's impression, "Jayne!" a yell over crowds murmurmings, "I get t'make yer first set o leathers!" he's seen the way the girl sews... Ranra grins as the blue Impresses Jayne, but then looks back at the jade hatchling. She puts her head in her hands, and sighs. Such a wonderful feeling to have the first impression over. NOw there's only 100 more to go... Brekka whispers to herself unconsciously a blue and a fast impression
oh joy
From the Sands, A flash of blue diverts Janna momentarily, and she turns just in time to watch Jayne Impress. "Oh, Jayne! Congratulations! Calamityth?" The name has a peculiar feel to her, but she waves anyways, and turns back, looking for that green again... Mhairi smiles and sounds out the name, "Calamityth." She grins
at the newly paired couple and she wishes their was room for her dragon
to be with her watching.
From the Sands, "No she won't!" Kymra protests, swiftly shaking her head. Trying to peer over her shoulder, turning slightly. "Hey!" Isn't she the one that's supposed to be hiding, here? Spying a Candidate -- one she doesn't know, well -- she quickly squeezes Eldana's hand. "That's what it's like," she whispers in answer to a previous question, wistful smile flickering 'pon her expression. From the Sands, C'zar sends up a cheer for the impressions, he squeezes Tam's hand before moving towards the newly paired lifemates, beckoning them to the side, grinning with happiness for them. From the Sands, Freand offers a salute to the impressed pair before continuing his dance on the sands. From the Sands, Fairelly's eyes dart to the new pair... Calamityth and Jayne. "Bravo Jayne," she calls out to the pair. Bet Caz is going to have a headache with those two. Trouble makers if she ever saw them... From the Sands, Ailheen lifts one foot and then the other, wincing at the hot sand. She watches the blue streak then grins at Jayne, "Congrats!" She calls out, before turning back to the eggs and the Green. From the Sands, Jayne spits out a mouthful of sand and picks herself up. She giggles and waves back over at Saran. "It's a deal!" And then she moves toward the edge of the sands with the other newly impressed pairs. From the Sands, Going from utter motionless into a frenzy of frenetic activity, the Curious Kitten Egg twitches and squirms in its hollow, suddenly and completely not pleased with mere complacency any longer. In an explosion of flying fur, shell crumbles and flies away as a yowling ball of indignant pique tumbles into the sand. Painted Coquelicot Dragonet is here. Admire. From the Sands, Peaceful Coquelicots Green Hatchling From the Sands, Undulating waves of grass shimmer across taut hide, darkening in the valleys of musculature and lightening to crystalline mint at the crests of curvature. Across shoulders and flanks, speckles of red blossom across the expanse of greenery, grouped together in asymmetrical clumps haphazardly. Azure sky blends with a deep verdant skyline that rolls from 'knobs crest down the spine to the base of her tail. Narrow wings blend in a mixture of swirled aquamarine and turquoise in a mesmerizing pattern. From the Sands, Wild gyrations stop for one moment, the eye of the storm. All is calm and serene before a loud crash is heard and the shards of the Prestorm Gales Egg go flying in a cyclone pattern, leaving a startled Mysterious Lady Dragonet in its wake. From the Sands, Mysterious Lady Dragonet From the Sands, Dark pine mingles with sap green only to be shadowed by tenebrous klah verging on black as they color the hide of this dragon in thick bark-like patterns as threads of a brighter grass coloring rises up from darkened haunches. Patches of dark verdancy, looking much like Spanish moss, randomly caress strong muscles as they flex with indifference. A perfectly wedge-shaped head is offset by large jeweled eyes that regard her surroundings with wonder. Lithe, light, and dainty all at once, she epitomizes green perfection. Vanetin smiles in wonder.. "Ca-lam-i-tyth.. nice ring to it.. From the Sands, Hearitana eeps as the lad in front of her suddenly goes to his knees before one of the young dragonets. She quickly hop-skips to another hiding place. From the Sands, Mishia grins weakly. "Congratulations Jayne, Calamityth." she almost chokes on the words as she looks back to Janna. "HOw are you holding up?" Danallia glances down in astonishment at the scene below. Does she believe it? Maybe she does...... From the Sands, Not more than 4 paces from her, Janna watches a small brown dragon raise his head and croon lovingly to a blackhaired girl. Sighing in an excess of happiness, she looks out over the Sands once more, only to have her attention diverted by /another/ green....a third....Wow! From the Sands, Eldana claps her hands together at the first impression. Jayne did someone say? "Congrats!" She hollers over the hullabaloo. The squeeze of her hand is returned, green eyes sparkling now with excitement and she nods her head quickly, braid a-bounce on her shoulders. She manages to play-slap at Saran for his 'bait' comment. From the Sands, Gryphynn turns and gasps as he sees two more greens hatch. He watches all the hatchlings, trying to see which way they will go. He smiles and waits to see who are the lucky candidates, maybe even him... Vanetin smiles wider, remembering her pretend dragon of her youth.. Laranoth had been her name... *sigh* From the Sands, Janna finally seems to get the cobwebs cleared enough to hear Mishia. She nudges her with her elbow. "Look, Mishia, 3 greens. Isn't it super?" Her eyes glow happily, and a lot of the tension seems to have left her face, as she shifts from foot to foot. From the Sands, Mishia swallows hard, looking at the eggs burst into the next generation of dragons.. She watches as a brown stumbles into a younger boy, who strains a bit under the weight, but gasps and hugs him gently. "Come on, Janna.. you'll make it.." She whispers to herself, not even aware of any chance she has. From the Sands, Saran ouches as he pulls back laughing, the hatching haven taken on a surreal aspect as he watches dragonets pick and chose. A glance down has him remembering his robe's discoloration, an uncomfortable shift as arms cross over the more promiment stains. Am'ly stumbles to the rail -- not without the mandatory trip over a
poor SeaCrafter, mind you -- and attempts the straighten out the mass of
white milling around the sands. "I see...Mishia! And isn't that Janna,
the Healer? Priscila?"
From the Sands, Peaceful Coquelicots Green Hatchling steps lightly onto the sands, arching her head back in a plaintive warble as she emerges from the shards of egg shells. From the Sands, Nehyn gives Eldana a nudge too, since he's hiding behind Kymra, and sort of her. "Ooh, another green! What do you think of her? Think she'll go for this robe?" He tugs on Kym's, wickedly distracted. Isn't he supposed to behave himself on the Sands? From the Sands, The Art of the Fugue Dragonet snakes about from Candidate to Candidate, looking for just the right one. Too tall, too short, way too fat... that one's strange, standing with a sheep! He can keep the sheep, he's not the One. Where? Where? Blink... she sidles closer to a red-head. Interesting. Violet eyes, too. Is /this/ the one? From the Sands, "Look! Look!" Kym's nearly in hysterics, squeezing and prodding all at once. Eldana, Nen...somehow, she's back behind him, hiding and gazing over his shoulder. "Lookit those greens, Nen! Dana!" Okay. Maybe that previous Candidacy didn't make her all that immune. Ranra smiles as the pair of greens hatch, but her eyes stay glued to
the first, wondering who /she/ will pick. She sighs, and looks around
for /him/. The person she had come to see Impress. Eyes focus back
on the first green, and blink.
From the Sands, Hearitana looks around and ohs, smiling slightly. "How pretty..." Hanging on the edge, Mau clutching her shoulder, Kitiana gives encouraging
cheers for the Healerhall peoples.
From the Sands, Mysterious Lady Dragonet stares about her, startled. She wasn't ready to make her entrance. This isn't how it's supposed to be! A plaintive wail is given up to the four dams, and only she and one of the golden queens knows truly who her mother is. Tomias nods respectfully at Master Caitlin and waves at Brekka. From the Sands, Freand decides to move slightly sideways looking in the presss of people for one face, one familiar face to lock to. From the Sands, The group of candidates is one great milling body of humans, hot sands...hot feet, at a distance the group would seem like a writhing mass. Caitlin returns the nod distractedly, her attention focused on who will be paired with whom, fingers crossed in her lap, she doesn't voice her unspoken hopes. From the Sands, Rukar claps and cheers for his fellow friends and candidates bonding left and right. A brief "Congrats!" is given to all he can see Impressing, and even those he can't. From the Sands, Is it? Is SHE? Janna holds her breath, and shifting of feet slows...stops, as she stares down at the beautiful green, hardly daring to hope..and yet, hoping so hard... From the Sands, Ailheen turns her head, watching the green eye everyone, then turns her head the other way watching the new green dragonet that just arrived. She stands quietly, 'trying' to watch every move the dragonets make. Danallia gasps as the dragonets begin to hatch in greater numbers now. So many of them...where is her fellow guardman? From the Sands, Eldana bounces from foot to foot, hemline forgotten as she gets prodded, her hand squeezed, her feet burned. In response to Kym's excited comment she nods, "Aye! Two o' them! Green! Pretty!" Seems the excitement has caused the well of verbose chatter to dry up somewhat. Rowena goes silent as the time washes back for her to a time when she too bounced from foot to foot waiting, wondering and supremely unsure. From the Sands, Don't look now, but the group resembles that mass close up as well... a sea of white... You look down upon the sands: Hatching Sands The sands are almost blisteringly hot all year round, glistening in their whiteness, but mingled with myriad colors of two millenias worth of broken shells. Sharp noises seem to echo loudly in the gigantic cavern while smaller ones are muffled; during Hatchings, the noise is near deafening with the sounds of the crowds and thrumming dragons. The ceiling is so far away, so tall that the dragons fly into the cavern through the great hole on the wall towards the northern bowl. Great, wide tiers line the sides of the sands, guarding rails separating them from the hatching grounds and the great mound at the far wall. The mound slopes downwards into the main part of the sands, where the eggs are usually scattered. Opposite the mound is the arched entrance to the rest of the weyr, where visitors enter to see a hatching or clutching. The queens have made four mounds to stash their eggs into, though it appears some of eggs have been shuffled from mound to mound. Lumpy Mound, Big Mound, Flattened Mound, and Shallow Mound. Stained Glass Egg, Dreary Rainy Day Egg, and Rolling Ocean Egg are in the Big Mound. The Art of the Fugue Dragonet, Mysterious Lady Dragonet, Summer Sunset Egg, and Hidden Waterfall Egg are in the Lumpy Mound. Peaceful Coquelicots Green Hatchling, Gypsy Dance Egg, Marvelous Musical Egg, and Wildflower Meadow Egg are in the Shallow Mound. Computer M*ing Egg, Calamityth, Overflowing Bookshelf Egg, Virgin Snow Egg, Wet Clay Egg, and Quill and Parchment Egg are in the Flattened Mound. You see Zivath, Sirikith, Aerinth, Warth, Fabrinath, M'ars, Korinth, Timoth, and Kenny the Candidate here. Elisandra, Sabria, K'pan, A'razi, Muireann, Fernox, C'zar, Ailheen, Freand, Minothurla, Tam, Fairelly, Eldana, Arial, Nehyn, Kymra, Mishia, Saran, Gryphynn, Janna, Rukar, and Hearitana are here. From the Sands, Gryphynn starts hopping up and down, trying to cool his feet. He sees the greens searching the crowd and just hopes that one might be heading for him. Brekka murmurs to herself "Come on Janna I know you can do it." From the Sands, Mishia smiles, her feet still mincing slightly as she looks at the greens, hoping one will come to Janna, and hidden away deep in her heart, hoping one will come for her. From the Sands, Peaceful Coquelicots Green Hatchling begins to shuffle across the sands, a slight rythm to her gait as she sniffles at first one then another candidate. Where is her other half? From the Sands, Kymra quiets a bit, simply staring, blatant. "Which do you like, Nen?" Kym's reverting to considering, then quips, "Bet the next ta hatch is bronze." Now she's cracking jokes at her own robe? What sort of influence is Nehyn? Feet start to burn, and she quickly shifts upon her feet, up and down. No, she ain't bouncing. Just...hopping. Yah. From the Sands, Shiver, shudder, crack and a roly poly blue rolls out to stop at a Holder lad's feet. Jeweled eyes whirl in confusion as he glances up and the lad breaks out with a whoop. Impression! From the Sands, Rukar's attention flicks to his favorite Stained Glass Egg, and the flicks back to the greens on the sands, wondering who they will Impress. Iona smiles as she watches Janna and Fairelly and crosses her fingers.
From the Sands, The Art of the Fugue Dragonet squeals in delight! Yes, /this/ is the One! Yes, yes! At last, she has found a Candidate worthy of her! Her eyes narrow in, focusing on Janna and Janna alone... ***Impression Message****
<< My name is ... Morianth >>
From the Sands, Mishia almost cries out in happiness and hugs Janna tightly. Vanetin elbows Brekka, "Isn't that who you wanted to impress?" pointing
to Janna
From the Sands, Gryphynn bounces for joy as he sees it happen. He shouts loudly in a huge voice, "Yeah! way to go Janna." he says as he sees her impress. From the Sands, Nehyn gives one foot a shake empty his sandal of sand as he shifts to the other foot, deciding to come out from hiding, at least for now. He moves to stand beside Eldana, leaning across to call to Kym, "A bronze? You sound like you actually want--oh! Look at the one near Janna!" From the Sands, Saran twists hearing a dragonet squeal! A cheer, voice already hoarse with shouts and calls of congratulations as he calls to Janna. Bouncing up and down, Kitiana squeals in delight for her friend.
From the Sands, Hearitana sways herself, as she has always been wont to do, moreso now with nerves. Fright mingled with curious hope. Ranra grins with pleasure. A good match. Red hair, to boot. From the Sands, Minothurla offers a quietly serene smile to Freand. She stands there, near Fairelly, hardly moving as she spectates. She's hot and sweaty, sure, but childbirth was a lot worse. So she copes. From the Sands, Tam grins in astonishment. "Janna?" Her grin turns into heartfelt laughter as she squeezes C'zar's hand. "A green! Oh congratulations Janna!!" she shouts across the sands. From the Sands, C'zar is nearly dizzy watching the pairings occur, the group of to the side is growing..GULP, weyrlings...weyrlings he has to train. Huge grins spreads over his face, "Janna! Congratulations!", he turns to look for Tam, knowing she will be thrilled as well. Crystal smiles down at the sand and starst toi draw the little green as she is looking at the canidates and think to her self that the little green need someone who can love and honer her as she grows up and looks loveling out on to the sands as she continuls ta From the Sands, Rukar's eyes search and lock on jana, and give here a whooping, "Congrats!" before watching the eggs and waiting, just waiting... From the Sands, Ailheen grins, "Congrats Janna!" She calls. She keeps one eye on the other green before glancing quickly to the eggs. Iona cheers "Another healer hall dragon rider!!!"
From the Sands, Eldana whoops loudly and jumps up and down, "Janna! She likes Janna!" She grabs onto Saran's arm and continues in her jumping, "See? See? See? Janna! Congrats!" Someone bump her, she's stuck again. Mhairi smiles at Iona and grins and then her eyes scan the sands, looking for more more blues. From the Sands, Kymra murmers uncivil comments to herself, sneaking back to attempt hiding behind the others. "Oh?" Swivling, she peers over towards Janna after Nehyn's comment, beam sliding onto her face. "Ohh...Congrats!" And so Kymra yells out her comment, likely lost in the others calls of congratulations. From the Sands, Freand inches closer to that serene smile the pain in his feet nearly fogotten. If Min can be so calm so can he. From the Sands, Muireann flashes a delighted grin at M'ars and then turns it to Janna. Green! "Congratulations!" She calls over, though the words may well be drowned out by the chaos on the sands. From the Sands, Fairelly beamies, holding on tight to Mino. "Well done, Janna!" she calls out enthusiastically... so many dragons, is there one for her? Caitlin watches intensely, to see if any of the harpers standing find a lifemate. She smiles and glances at the apprentices in the galleries with her and then at Rowena next to her and she grins and stares out at the unhatched eggs again and sighs. From the Sands, Wildflower Meadow Egg half spins in place, as if trying to shrug off a favorite jacket that has become just too tight. Lemme out! From the Sands, Fernox glances towards Janna, looking over the head of a shorter Candidate in his way to do so. "Congrats!" he calls over, eyes then torn away but the sudden lurching of the egg nearest him. He ducks back behind his living shield of white clad Candidates and groans again, waiting for this nightmarish evening to end. Rowena sighs softly as green finds her match her heart touched with
remembered joy. A softly spoken word whispers past her lips.
"Luck."
From the Sands, Dazed....bemused, Janna accepts Mishia's hug numbly, lost in the rainbow regard of the beautiful green. She sinks to her knees, tears pouring down her face. A huge, ragged intake of breath, and, "Oh, Morianth!" Her voice breaks, then steadies. "Morianth." From the Sands, Saran shifts from foot to foot, absently nudging Eldana as he nods, "Aye..." he mumbles...eyes curiously sweeping over the mass of white robed candies...wondering who's heart is in thier throat and out of breath. From the Sands, Arial holds her breath, remembering that moment of Impression. "Janna!" she shouts, before waiting to hear the name. "Morianth! Oh, she's wonderful!" Torin holds her breath until the name of Janna's is uttered. "Congrats, Janna!" she calls down, waving enthusiastically. From the Sands, Mishia smiles, a tear in her eyes. "Thanks, Morianth.. you take care of her." She says, a bit pointless, but it's her way. Janna hugs Kitiana! Kitiana grabs Janna and squeezes with all her might! Vanetin's cheeks are wet with unnoticed tears, her feeling every moment of the candidates' joy. From the Sands, Rukar weaves his way over to Mishia, taking and grasping her hand tightly with hope and nervousness. He then has to quickly jump out of the way as a candie charges past him, and then resumes his previous position. Kitiana hugs Janna! Janna wraps her arms around you and hugs tightly. Quivering, she whispers, 'I'm so excited, Kitiana!' From the Sands, Soulth searches for that perfect harmony to her melody...perfect sway to her rhythm. Wide eyes look and find that moment of perfection in song. She finds it in Hearitana! Miakoda wiggles with no small amount of excitement, not sure which is
more interesting: the impressions taking place below, or the people cheering
their favorite candidates on. After a moment of indecision, the girl decides
to keep her eyes on the hatching.
From the Sands, Mishia looks at Rukar and takes his hand in her other, squeezing softly, the tears trying to be held back and falling anyway. "Thanks." From the Sands, Mysterious Lady Dragonet comes out of her pout rapidly, figuring she's cried enough over spilt milk. Instead, she heads resolutely forward, bright eyes shifting left and then right. Where oh where? Ranra silently sits and watch Impression after Impression occur. Wonderful feelings come over her, satisfied, she hears the name of that green. "Morianth..." she whispers to herself. She can only hope that the pair lead long and happy lives together. Maybe she'll write another song about dragons... she looks back at the other greens, and smiles. Still two out there for someone to Impress. From the Sands, Hearitana gasps, eyes wide in shock. "Oh, Soulth... you wanted me?" She hugs the green head gently, tears streaming down her face. "I-I never knew...." Eyes sparkling, Kitiana looks at Brekka. Isn't that great? She worked so hard for this! From the Sands, Gryphynn watches Janna happily and then turns remembering that there are other hatchlings. He watches a blue impress to a young girl next to him and then a brown to a young man. He watches the hatchlings move, still looking at the others. From the Sands, Heart looks up, and shouts proudly, "Soulth found me! ME!!" She's just a little happy. ;) From the Sands, Arial grins at the new pair, Heart and Soulth. Lovely. From the Sands, Nehyn cranes his neck around as greens Impress left and right, ultimately giving Kymra another poke--when in doubt, eh? "Oh, now there's a happy pair," he remarks, indicating Heart and Soulth. Brekka's green eyes full of sparkle meet Kiti's and she grins as tears of joy squeeze out of her eyes "I'm so happy for her!" From the Sands, C'zar feels his throat getting a little choked...dark eyes beam a smile towards Heart and her lifemate, beckoning them also towards the group at the side. From the Sands, Ailheen watches the Mysterious Dragonet, a small smile on her lips. She winces again but manages to keep both of her feet on the ground, just shuffling a bit. From the Sands, Freand shakes his head making sweat dampened hair swing. Eyes look around and he smiles his pleasure at the matchings taking place all around him. Ranra grins as another Impresses. Soulth. Hmmm... a little hard to put
in a song, but a lovely dragon none the less.
From the Sands, Kymra manages a rather unobtrusive poke at Nehyn again -- or maybe not so unobvious. "Mmmhmm," Kym replies, half-paying attention. "Oh! Yes, it is..." She glances towards Eldana, tacking on, "What do you think." When it doubt, eh? Caitlin smiles at Brekka and nods and then glances at her hands and unclenches them and watches the sands again, her fingers lightly crossed this time. From the Sands, Rukar gently whispers a few words of comfort into Mishia's ear, telling her that no matter what, they will always be friends. Danallia actually inches her way over to the railing, utterly fascinated
by the activity on the sands. Eyes focus with intent on one person in particualr
and she silently wishes him luck, a complete turnaround in emotion from
her initial reason for coming.
From the Sands, Mishia looks at him and nods, speaking a bit hoarsely, "Thanks, Rukar." She smiles weakly. Calia nudges Torin and smiles "I hope Rukar and Mishia impress."
From the Sands, Eldana pauses in her hopping, dropping her hands and staring numbly at Kym, "Me? Think? What do I think abou' wha'?" She's not as stupid as she sounds at this moment -- maybe it's the heat, maybe it's the excitement, but she's missed the topic of conversation and can't answer the question. Torin nods to Calia, trying not to dislodge the harper chin on her spare shoulder. "I'm just glad that Janna did." From the Sands, Wildflower Meadow Egg quakes, and manages to roll out of its hollow... only to roll into another vacated one. Le sigh. Calia smiles at Torin and nods eyes going back to the sands
From the Sands, Mysterious Lady Dragonet stops and turns lightly on her tail. Is that her? The one she's been looking for? She moves forward, hesitating only slightly, towards the girl with blond ringlets wearing a hand-me down robe. Ah, too lazy to stitch her own? She can whip the girl into shape. From the Sands, Saran chuckles as he nudges the young girl, excitement catching as he almost bounces from foot to foot, "Arn't ye paying attention?" he whispers, another nudge as her egg of choice rolls...does it come closer? From the Sands, Delicate flower petals shiver and shake, ripples flowing across the once peaceful surface of a springtime field. With one sudden jolt, that within awakens to seek the One that he has been dreaming off all this time. Shell falls away in a shower of petals and color, leaving behind a gangly and much surprised Baroque Marble-Angel Dragonet. From the Sands, Baroque Marble-Angel Dragonet From the Sands, Sun-kissed headknobs gleam atop the delicately chiseled head, eyeridges brushed cerulean mingling with the halo of his crown. Creamy marble merged with summer's sunset sky, deepening to dusk as it flows down neck and chest, spreading to curved haunches before fading further into midnight's indigo tail, sprinkling stars like dust upon unruly spaded tip. Oversized wings arch like sheltering bows of sky, deeper sapphire touched by feathery cirrus clouds into palest translucentcy of periwinkle. From the Sands, Morianth croons lovingly up at Janna, and nudges her impatiently. It's HOT here! Smiling fit to bust her cheeks, Janna stands, and brushes the sand from her robe. "C'mon, Morianth, love," she coaxes..."let's move out of everyone's way..." Vanetin sighs, almost a whine, full of yearning for that special tpouch.. From the Sands, Fernox side steps quickly as a blue dragonet flounces by. That was close. His green eyes peer up towards the buzzing galleries in back, squinting to see if his old comrades are there. From the Sands, Nehyn isn't thinking much at all right now, actually, but spotting a green edging nearer, he gives Kymra another nudge. Poor girl. "Oh, now take a look at that one, Kym. It looks like she's got an interest in something or other...." Like old robes. From the Sands, Kymra shuffles slightly, tugging at the back of Nen's robe. Short robe. "Where's that green going?" she queries, nearly whispering. "That one? Or that one? Or..." She trails off, gazing at the newly hatched. "That one's nice," she comments. From the Sands, Gryphynn gasps as he sees egg after egg hatch revealing magnificent hatchlings. "Oh, look. A blue." he says with awe, distracted from the greens to the blue, though his eyes do dart between the hatchlings and the egg that has always seemed to call to him. Caitlin smiles "Another green." She nudges Rowena "Is there a gold egg down in that mix?" From the Sands, Freand shifts trying to /see/ everything all at the same time. From the Sands, Rukar's deep blue eyes wander over to the newly hatched, commenting, "That one's a beauty, but then again they /all/ are." Vanetin looks a bit confused; why are all the iCandidates running away from the dragonets? shouldn't they be /trying/ to impress the,m? From the Sands, Mishia swallows hard, standing up straight, watching Janna and Morianth leave. "She deserved it." She whispers. From the Sands, Ailheen glances from each of her fellow candidates, smiling an encouragement to everyone. She turns her her back to the dragonets and the eggs, watching quietly. Rowena shakes her head. "I never saw no gold egg... an them is
one ya usually don't miss, Cait. But then I never saw so many eggs
at one time afore either." Her sigh is a touch worried. "What
do the old legends say 'bout larger clutches?"
From the Sands, Eldana nudges Saran right back and frowns a little, "I be payin' attention all right. So I missed a question. There be a lot happenin' ye know." Shards Dana, now's not the time to get into a sibling-like argument. The hot sands force her to start moving again and as she does she's just in time to catch the meadow egg spilling forth its contents onto the sand and as quick as she started to hop she stops again, mouth open before she tugs gently on Saran's robe and Kym's hand, "He be beautiful. D'ye see? Beautiful." From the Sands, Heart smiles, kneeling next to Soulth, staying as near as she can to him. "Isn't he enchanting?" Danallia notices her former comrade and waves enthusiastically, hoping
he catches her wave. Then, she retreats slightly, feeling a bit embarassed.
From the Sands, Saran reaches down to try an tug back his robe being gripped...at least he's not in danger of flashing the galleries to their back. Eyes follow 'Dana's to the blue that hatched from 'her' egg, "Aye, graceful as a dream." he agrees, mentally storing the colors to be found on the sands that day...what an idea for an outfit...or half a dozen. Brekka chuckles softly "Who would want to they are all so beautiful." Vanetin smiles at Brekka's comment, nodding her head absently, eyes intent on the lucky impressors.. *sigh* Caitlin laughs and nods "Cannot put an shell together after it has cracked." She smiles and points out a harper boy who shifts from foot to foot "OK who do you think Vernon there will be matched with?" From the Sands, Baroque Marble-Angel Dragonet gets to his feet, shaking his head a little. How... unusual. Nose raises serenely, sniffing the air. Fascinating! So much to explore... but first, he needs something. Ranra nods with Brekka's coment. They are beautiful, and so wonderful.
Wouldn't it be great to have a dragon of her own? It's never going to happen.
She's just a harper- why would a dragon want her?
From the Sands, The web of charcoal lines flares; the hidden embers within springing to sudden life, to burn, to heat, to melt each colour-stained pane. Stained Glass Egg is finally subsumed; crumbled to ash, revealing the shadowy presence of Dreamscape of The Scream Dragonet. From the Sands, Dreamscape of The Scream Dragonet From the Sands, Rippling red and golden bronze striate the gaunt-boned form of this murky dragonet; an eerie churning of scattered autumnal shades that darken, waning, like sunset's surrender to the onset of night. Jagged joints jut like stark and unsettling omens, and spiked spars flare their skeletal fingers to display parchment-like sails, scribed with all the secrets of an age. Neck and tail are thanksfully concise, an offset to the remainder of that lanky frame, and the harsh-cut 'ridges that scar his spine present a gothic silhouette. From the Sands, "C'mon, Morianth, only a few more steps." Lovingly, the green nudges Janna's knee, and she stumbles a moment, before giggling. "We can rest at the side, away from the others." A few more steps, and Morianth sinks to the edge of the Sands with a large sigh. From the Sands, Shock startles the Mysterious Lady Dragonet and she hastily butts Kymra's knees. How could Kymra look at any other when /she/ was on the Sands? Mine. Danallia is too curious to stay in the shadows for long. She makes her
way closer to the rail again, leaning over it to watch intently.
From the Sands, Rukar's eyes widen as a /bronze/ emerges from the egg he so adorns, or did adorned before it was burst. All he can do is squees Mishia's hand harder. From the Sands, Gryphynn gasps, "A bronze." he nudges the boy next to him almost knocking him over, "Look a bronze." he says. His eyes roam from the bronze to the blue to his favorite egg which has yet to even move. From the Sands, Tug of war with Saran's robe? Maybe, because Eldana refuses to let go. Especially now that there's a green dragonet bumping at Kym. Dazed she looks at her friend, "Errrr, Kym?" Gently she loosens her hand holding Kym's. She may need it. Corman yawns a bit and rests against Torin's right side, head just below the sleeping green on that shoulder. From the Sands, Minothurla watches the birthing bronze. Such an... unsettling creature twists even at her serenity. "My. He's... thin, isn't he." Well that's the nice way of putting it. From the Sands, Nehyn edges over to nudge Eldana. Wouldn't want her to feel left out, you see. "Look at that blue. Handsome fellow, eh? Oh, and look at that darkish fellow--a bronze or brown?" Should he hide behind Kym now? Really, he's just babbling. Someday he'll quit. From the Sands, Mishia closes her eyes, still moving from foot to foot, squeezing his hand back. From the Sands, Fernox's eyes blink as a bronze emerges, a truly interesting looking one at that. "Goodness." he gulps, stepping back next to his cohorts Eldana and Kymra. Kymra? He blinks as he spies the green standing by his fellow hideaway. "Oh Kymra, congratulations." Calia nudges Torin "Look a bronze! Oh go Rukar!" Vanetin whispers, "a bronze...
From the Sands, Kymra drops a hand from Eldana's grasp, mouth slowly opening and closing. Slowly, ever so slowly, she queries, breathless, eyes widened, "Gwyneth?" Then again: "Gwyneth!" And she drops to her knees, mindless of scorching sands. Vanetin nudge-nudges Brekka, pointing, "Look, a Bronze! From the Sands, Ailheen wows as the Bronze hatches, he's a beauty. She watches the green as she impresses. "Congrats Kymra!" She calls out to her. From the Sands, C'zar smiles at Janna and Morianth, turning his focus to them for a few moments, "Congratulations Janna, she's a lovely green." BLINK, head twists about, another impression! "Kymra!", his voice is drowned out though. From the Sands, Janna turns at Sand's egde, and sees the bronze emerge. Her breath catches, and in a quite voice, she informs Moriath. "Oh, he's a pretty one." Then she notices one of the other greens at Kymra's feet. "Congrats, Kymra! Gwyneth!" From the Sands, Fairelly blinks and smile, "Kymra? Kymra!" More bouncing. "Gwyneth and Kymra!" Brekka nods and grins "yes and he is wonderful!" From the Sands, Saran takes a step back, trying to drag Eldana with him...that green is awfully close for comfort, even ifn she is more intrested in Kymra than them..."Way to go Ky...and Gwyneth." he offers, tacking on the green's name once Kymra shares it..."You'll need it..." though last part lost in more shuffling as feet not moving remind him of their tender state. Ranra smiles. There goes another one. She shouts, "Congrats!" For the first time in the evening, even though she's been a little shy before. She oofs as the man beside her jabs her with his elbow in excitement, then rubs her side. That hurts... From the Sands, Nehyn could pass out, right about now. "Kymra? Jays, that sharding robe worked!" Doesn't he wish he had one that lucky? "Oh, Congrats!" No more hiding behind her, eh? From the Sands, Tam blinks and claps a hand over her mouth. "Shards! Kymra!?" she laughs and claps her hands. "Oh congratualtiions, Kymie!" From the Sands, Eldana hops up and down, reaching for Nehyn's hand to replace Kym's, the other still anchored in Saran's robe, "Kym! Oh congrats Kym! She be beautiful. Gwyneth! Pretty name!" Jump, jump, jump. Hot sands or excitement, who knows or cares at this point. From the Sands, Rukar grins, and throws a congrats to everyone who's Impressed so far, himself being to engrossed in what's happening to be able to move to the. Am'ly turns away from her vantage point, mental puzzling over the newest pair. "Kymra, who's Kymra?" What the shell, any Impression is a good Impression, hey? From the Sands, Morianth nudges Janna's hand...and lifts her head to the scene on the Sands. She squeeks as her clutchsister Impresses, and eyes whirl rapidly as she watches the bronze dargonet. From the Sands, Arial almost jumps up for her former candidate mate before remembering her promise to remain respectable. "Well done, Kymra," she calls instead. Mhairi watches, arms wrapped around legs, her mind half on the spectacle before her, the other half thinking about Faranth knows what. Iona ignores tears of joy for those who have found their lifemates. Maybe dragons aren't so scary after all. From the Sands, Muire smiles broadly. "Ach congratulations, Kym!" The Weyr has finally nabbed the girl. Faranth help her. From the Sands, Janna tears her gaze from the Sands, gazes fondly down at Morianth, and finally turns to the Weyrlingmaster. "Thanks, C'zar. I think she's just..." Here words fail the normally verbose girl..either that, or they're stuck behind that suspicious lump that forms in her throat as her eyes meet Moriath's again. From the Sands, Mishia squeezes the hand softly, still shifting. Just ten armlengths to her right, a young pale woman collapses to her knees, tears in her eyes as a blue walks to her, his head tilted cockily. From the Sands, Nehyn doesn't need to know what Dana's hand is doing inside someone else's robe, really. But he clasps her offered hand in nervous excitement. "She is beautiful, though, isn't she? Gwyneth, I mean. Not that Kym isn't, but..." Oh, he should be quiet now, shouldn't he? From the Sands, Obviously not. Poor Nen. Not that Kymra's paying the slightest attention to the other Candidates at this moment. Eyes fairly feasting upon the green -- /Gwyneth/ -- her normally composed features break into the brightest of beams. "C'mon," she urges, smiling down at he lifemate. "This way!" And off she goes, towards Caz and company. Brekka looks at Caitlin with a smile "Oh another green impression!" she is trying calmly to sit and watch but its so hard. From the Sands, Dreamscape of The Scream Dragonet flairs his wings before clapping them back against his side, taming his wild urges. The truth is out there, and he'll find it. From the Sands, Rukar's eyes follow the broze's movements carefuly, never letting them faulter from him. Caitlin smiles at Brekka and nods and she glances back and sees that
Vernon has met up with a brown and she nods in delight, no matter how much
she protests her apprentices being searched, she does love watching them
find their lifemates.
From the Sands, Arial accepts Kymra in their corner of the Sands, beaming at her friend. "Well done, Kymmie," she whispers again, pleased to accept the candidate no longer into the ranks of weyrlings. Brekka grins at Kitiana and turns her attention toward Gryphynn "Come on Gryphynn!" From the Sands, Morianth creels impatiently. She's hungry! Janna's hand caresses her soft neck, and she quiets...for now. From the Sands, Fernox investigates a likely brown, he licks his dry lips as he considers taking a step towards him. But when the dragon moves off, he is all too glad he didn't make that embaressing revelation. So many dragons, so many Candidates. Then he shakes his head sternly at himself. What is he thinking? He's not supposed to be here, he should be in the galleries instead with the other Fort guards, like Liani, or Branik, or Danallia! Ranra cheers for Gryphynn. He's a Harper, after all. "Go Gryphynn!" She smiles, and then sits back to watch. From the Sands, Baroque Marble-Angel Dragonet pauses in his walk, testing the air again, a noise having gotten his attention. A fascinating noise. Alluring as a siren's song. It was there... From the Sands, Kymra sneaks her glance away from the green only long enough to grin at Arial. "Thanks," she replies, a bit tearfully. Tears? Kym? Something's gone wrong. From the Sands, Saran gives another half-hearted tug on his robe's hem...who's protecting who out here? Feet lift up and reverse in quick succession, pay back for his half-stupor of watching Ky impress. Danallia winces at the whoop by her ear as she glances back down at
the sands once more, silently. Eyes seek out and find her friend once more
on the ground below, widening slightly at the sight of him surrounded by
dragonets. Is he to impress tonight?
From the Sands, Nehyn nudges Dana. "Look, Kym's crying!" he whispers. Well, it's more or less a whisper, over all the chaos on the Sands. "You think she's okay? Or just happy?" Who ever heard of someone being unhappy on the day they Impress? Ranra humms a little tune quietly to herself. She looks around,
trying to see who's impressed whom...
From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles as he watches the boy next to him impress to a brown and then turns back to watch the other hatchlings and hoping. From the Sands, Ailheen shifts back and forth and back and forth trying to cool her burning feet. She glances up at the eggs, looking to see which ones are left before turning back to watch the dragonets. From the Sands, Virgin Snow Egg's teasing is over, but it can't resist a last coy shimmy before it hatches. From the Sands, Dreamscape of The Scream Dragonet examines the sea of white before him, daunting in it's expanse. But he was never one to weaken and he visably bucks up, looking for the X that marks the spot. From the Sands, Kymra is, indeed. Tears of joy, though -- stealing another glance up, at her fellow Candidates, she gives a cheery wave, then drops her arm to trailing down Gwyneth's 'ridges, oh-so-perfect. From the Sands, Tremors shimmer across the surface of the Virgin Snow Egg, as if shivering in anticipation. Nervous energy causes snow to melt, as trickling water in the form of minute cracks in the egg's shell radiate outward. There's an odd sort of noise coming from within, a humming of sorts, unearthly tones floating in the air. A soft green glow pulsates, moments before the shell disintigrates into shards. From the Sands, Mona Lisa Dragonet From the Sands, A mysterious smile curls invitingly across the maw of this dragonet, as if inwardly she knows a secret, but outwardly denies its knowledge. Wide eyes, large and luminous, are set like glowing orbs within an unusually large head, giving her a waif-like appearance. Hide is a brilliant green color, like transluscent emerald, brightening considerably to near neon tones over long, delicate wingspars. Her tail cools to mere malachite, as the probing limb swishes intermittantly, reflecting this dragonet's deep thoughts. Talons are as dark as midnight, long and sharp, their obsidian shades glinting wickedly in starlight. From the Sands, Mishia swallows hard, almost swaying a bit. Her eyes open slowly. The swaying? Nah.. she's not heatstricken.. just shifting her feet.. yeah. Good thing she's had a lot of water lately. From the Sands, Eldana watches Kym leave with Gwyneth before turning her eyes to Nehyn. In one of those sudden shows of maturity she rolls her eyes skyward. Kym's not here now, she'll have to take her place, "Ach, fer someone who talks o' warm bodies ye sure dinna know much abou' women do ye. She be /happy/ ye silly wherry!" Tsk of her tongue and then a grin spreads over her features as she winks at Saran. There! That'll teach Nehyn to tease her. Vanetin gasps at the beautiful little green hatches.. oh so lucky... From the Sands, Rukar ,pulling at his tight chested but loose legged robe, sighs at the heat, watching the bronze's eyes searching the masses of white, while skipping from one foot to the other, and clenching Mishia's hand with a death grip. From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles, and watches dragon after dragon hatch and then impress, still leaving a massive number of eggs and candidates. His eyes follow the hatchlings, trying to see if any are heading for him and trying to prevent himself from being pushed to the side. From the Sands, Mona Lisa Dragonet studies her surroundings carefully before proceeding. Objectivity, don't you know. Then, when she has examined the situation, she sets forth, approaching the sea of white-robed forms. From the Sands, Saran chuckles as he gives Eldana a quick squeeze about the shoulders...girl's got pluck. "So ye gonna go attract a dragon or two this way?" he wonders, voice quivers slightly, he likes watching from a distance. From the Sands, Mishia looks at Rukar. "Hot, isn't it." She says laconically, her eyes still gazing at the eggs. From the Sands, Rukar doesn't even turn his head from the dragonets, but gently squeezes Mishia's hand in the form of a 'yes'. From the Sands, Nehyn wrinkles his nose at Eldana, more surprised than offended. "Well it sure looks like Kym's got a warm body to keep her warm at night, now." The dragonet. Yeah, that's what he means. "Oh, now there's a lovely new green!" he exclaims, pointing to the one newly hatched. Ranra grins, "Another green then? It's a good night for green dragons."
She crosses her legs the other way- left over right, and sighs. "A very
good night indeed..." she whispers.
From the Sands, Fernox stumbles out as a shove from behind propells him. "Hey watch it!" he grumbles, shying away from the path of lumbering green. It's a sea of white capped waves out here, with plenty of sharp taloned creatures splashing through too. A man could get hurt out here! Danallia has been so busy watching her guardsman, that she nearly missed the hatching of yet another green.....but what a green she is. Intriguing! From the Sands, Ailheen glances from each dragonet to the newest green. She brushes a loose strand of her black hair away from her face as she starts to lift one foot up again and then the other. Mhairi stares intently at the green, as if trying to will it to move towards a certain candidate, a questioning though breaks through her concentration and she laughs and shakes her head, as she realises what she was trying to do. From the Sands, Pluck she may have, but get in the way of those dragonets -- no way! Eldana merely shakes her head at Saran before giggling at Nehyn, "Aye, that she do." He's forgiven obviously. Ow! Hot feet. And once more she hops from foot to foot, her sweaty hand still curled in the folds of Saran's robe. From the Sands, Baroque Marble-Angel Dragonet walks up to a boy, and snuffles his feet, jerking back sharply and shaking his head with a snerk of dislike. No, that one is too short. This one is too... too. Perhaps over here. He walks... no glides... towards a knot of candidates chattering about some nonsense about women and such. From the Sands, Mona Lisa Dragonet sweeps past the white-robes, studying each with careful scrutiny. Accept nothing. Deny everything. That's her motto. The mystery of her gaze settles on a pudgy black-haired lad, but no. Not him. She moves down to a sinuous blond girl. But no. Definitely not. Each is examined and discarded quickly. Vanetin sighs, what a beautiful green... From the Sands, Mishia looks at the two dragons with curiousity, wondering how they choose, or what they look for. Tarah sits back down again, swinging her feet under her seat as she often does, Hmm, hmm, hmm. She peers at all the people in the crowds and watches them. From the Sands, Minothurla studies the skeptical green for a moment then turns her eyes outward once more. Too cynical, that one. A shame, really. From the Sands, Nehyn catches his breath in a gasp, giving Eldana's hand a sharp squeeze. "Dana! Is that blue coming this way?" She's lucky he doesn't have fingers free, else he'd poke. From the Sands, Rukar is here, but is watching, just watching. From the Sands, Saran continues with his deep rumbles of laughter, feet picked up and set back down...swaying awkwardly as he gives up on trying to get his robe lose...with any luck 'Dana is hiding a stain with her death grip. Ranra looks at this picky green. Picky, eh? Well then. She hopes that she'll choose soon. She's exhausted from the night of happiness. She wipes her hands again, and looks at Catasothra, her friend. She looks around in the crowd for some other people she knows, but finds them not. From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles as he watches each hatchling look for its lifemate. His heart pounds in his chest as he watches one come close, but then go towards another young boy. He turns and watches another, hoping one might still come towards him. From the Sands, Attention turns back towards the sands, the sea of white indeed and the dragonets moving through it. That blue! Is he coming this way? Nehyn echoes her thoughts and his hand is crushed, "Errr, aye, mayhaps. Back up! Move!" Feet try to backpedal in the slippery hot sand. Like she's going to be able to drag the men with her -- as if! From the Sands, C'zar walks among the weyrlings and their hungry dragonets, grinning...a little tense though, so so many of them. He does his best to look confident though. From the Sands, Seeking perfection, Baroque Marbel-Angel Dragonet finds, embodied within ageless wisdom caught between the world of a child and the world of a woman. Hurrying to make sure she doesn't get away, he rushes up to Eldana, raising up to peer at her. Yes! This is the one! From the Sands, Kymra waggles fingers at C'zar, commenting oh-so-brightly, "Gwyneth's hungry." Yaah. Turning attention to Sands for a bit, she spies Eldana's Impression. Shriek. Yes, that'd be Kym. "Daaaaana! Dana! Dana!" Danallia's composure slips just a bit. There's an odd sensation tweaking
in the back of her neck, a pinge almost. Her hair prickles as she watches
the sands, her gaze on Fernox and the dragonets around him. Something is
going on......
From the Sands, Tam watches with amusement and happiness at the exuberant candidates, remembering only too well how her own impression was like. From the Sands, C'zar grins with a nod, "I know...soon they can eat", ouch...a shriek..whatever can that be about. He whirls about and grins, "Eldana! Shards! Congratulations." From the Sands, Nehyn does move, losing his footing and going down in the sand rather behind Dana and her newly found lifemate. Ack. Now he'll have burns unmentionable places. From the Sands, Fairelly squeals for the other girl, soomeone about her age. "Dana! Dana! Dana!" she chants, happiness and jealousy warring within her slight frame. Ciaran smiles privately to himself for Lythandria's cousin, wishing she could be here to see this. From the Sands, Ailheen continues to watch as she sees Dana impress out of the side of her eye. She turns towards her and calls out a Congrats! From the Sands, A single tear weaves it's way down Rukar's face, watching all of his friends around him being bonded for life and love. From the Sands, Saran forgets to breath as blue comes sniffing out 'Dana, "Looks like tag yer it." he steps away, gently tugging on his robe...maybe now nerveless fingers will let go, or his robe's going off to the side...without him. From the Sands, Mona Lisa Dragonet snorts softly, turning from the last girl in the semi-circle; a carrot-topped child. Nearly right... but not quite. She's run out of white-robes, so she stands for a moment, swaying, before movement from the galleries catches her whirling eyes and she moves in that direction. Ah. There. She skulks closer. Another red-head to dissect. From the Sands, Eldana blinkblinks and stops. Stops completely and drops her hands slowly, moving them to cradle the blue head gently, "Ilyth..." It's a soft breathless noise. Then louder, an exclamation, "He's Ilyth!!" And she beams, "And ye be the most beautiful thing I e'er seen." For him the final words. Eyes shine as she looks up at her fellows, a silly grin spreading across her face. Catasothra lets a few tears escape him and he closes his eyes as they
run down his face.
From the Sands, Arial sighs happily as another enters the ranks of weyrlinghood. She makes her way to Eldana and her lifemate, "If you'd come this way Eldana and Ilyth, was it," she asks politely, leading the pair to the other 'lings on the outskirts. Torin spares a hand to wipe away Cat's tears. From the Sands, Janna lifts adoring gaze from Morianth just in time to watch the bluerush with obvious intent towards Eldana. "Oh. Eldana! Ilyth! Congrats!" She stands to stretch cramped legs. She waves wildly in Eldana's direction. Mhairi smiles broadly "Ilyth, almost as good as a green." She
laughs softly at her prejudice and watches to see how many eggs are left
to hatch.
From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles and watches another impression. He looks towards the hatchlings and unhatched eggs, wondering if there is one that will be looking for him. Rhaine ponders what the little green is up to and sits, eyes intensified watching the little hatchling. From the Sands, Muireann grins at the new pair. "Eldana! Congratulations!" And such a lovely blue, too. From the Sands, Dreamscape of The Scream Dragonet makes his way, almost out of options. One holder boy is rejected as is a harper lad. He paces, pausing, knowing that the answer is out there, somewhere. He just has to look hard enough. Danallia gasps in astonishment at the approaching green, her own green
eyes widening in shock and disbelief, denying the evidence she sees before
her eyes. But then, she's always been the skeptic, hasn't she?
From the Sands, Rukar sees the brozne wandering about in the fields of white, and sort of hops from side to side for a few moments, his poor feet being scorched through his sandals. Juliana rns up the stairs, looking /very/ frazzled, and
glances around,. Spying Am'ly, and an empty seat by her, she sits, panting
a greeting, before watching., looking for familier faces.
From the Sands, Overflowing Bookshelf Egg rolls and shakes, suddenly awake. Time to wake up! Soon... From the Sands, Eldana releases Ilyth's head from her hands and places one on his neck, "Come my sweet, I think we be supposed to go o'er to the others." And with a careful step she begins to make her way over to the others that have impressed and the Weyrlingmaster. Kym's there she knows. Torin sighs a bit. "Yeah." She gently nudges her brother with her arm. "I think someone's falling asleep. Funny, for his first hatching, I thought he might show a little more enthusiasm." From the Sands, Gryphynn looks over seeing another egg rocking, and smiles, another one to come. A hatchling impresses to a weaver lad to his right, while the bronze still wanders around looking. Am'ly elbows a poor Farmer rather viciously, immediately backing off
with flow of frantic apologies and excuses. "I'm s-sorr...Juli!" Finally,
someone to hide behind, as the rider dives beside her Fortian friend. "A
blue! A blue just Impressed."
From the Sands, Hands still resting 'pon Gwyneth's neckridges, Kym quirks a beam towards Eldana. "You did it," she murmers quietly, slightest giggle emerging. "What did I tell you?" From the Sands, Two eggs roll, neighbors really. Colliding in the small area given to them, their already stressed pink and purple shells crack and two bemused greens are left in the wake. Stumbling a bit from their bumpercar routine, they weave and wobble, one finding a herder lass and the other a former steward. From the Sands, Mona Lisa Dragonet reaches the gallery steps, crooning her query. Is this right? Is there one up there for her? Never mind the facts, at the end, sometimes there's only belief; only instinct. And so up she goes. From the Sands, Fernox stumbles again, this time to side step a wandering blue. Not Ilyth. No, he watched that dragon head for Eldana and more luck to her. He's got a mission now, to stay alive. Trust no one, for the dragon who'll probably make a mess of his life is probably out there. Corman murmurs a bit. "'m awake...'m awake..." From the Sands, Ailheen watches the rocking egg, still keeping one eye upon the dragonets. Catasothra opens his eyes and resumes watching, kissing her cheek softly and whispering. From the Sands, Mona Lisa Dragonet ducks under the front rail of the galleries and climbs up the stairs. Mona Lisa Dragonet ducks under the front rail of the Galleries from the sands and climbs up the side stairs. From the Sands, Sabria blinks and turns to her weyrleader. "Is that green honestly going up into the galleries?" she gapes, shifting on her feet as she watches in amazement. You overhear Catasothra whisper"... ... ..." to Torin.
From the Sands, Gryphynn hears a noise from the crowd and turns watching one of the hatchling heading up to the galleries. He giggles a little and smiles, then turns back to watch the myriad of hatchlings looking for thier mates. Torin stifles a little yawn.
From the Sands, Nehyn manages to scramble to his feet, hoping his tumble to the Sands didn't reveal anything too revealing to anyone who'd notice. Ahem. Interesting burns indeed. He glances around him, finally deciding to edge towards a bunch of Candidates he's seen around but never really met. From the Sands, Rukar turns watching the green actually going into the galleries! This is strange... Rhaine stares in suprise at the little green and turns about to see
just who's catching her attention in the galleries. "Shards" she murmurs,
blinking in astonishment.
From the Sands, K'pan blinks too, shrugging...he cranes his neck to watch. Ranras heart pumps. Who will it be? Who will appeal to the glistening green? Palms are unbearably sweaty, and she looks around to the people on the sands. Weren't they good enough? Who /does/ she want? From the Sands, Elisandra watches the green and shakes her head. "Must be one of Fabrinath's, Sabby," she says. Caitlin blinkblinks and nudges Rowena "What is that green doing, doesn't she like the choices on the sand?" From the Sands, Saran smooths out his robe...now handprints marr the grubby grey...a sigh, with luck his craft master isn't there, or can't see from her distance that his robe is less than immaculant...eyes twist to scour the galleries for a moment...trying to pick out a face, or two...but the heat blurs the distance. Shifting with painful mincing his attention is back to the eggs, steps follow in Nehyn's wake...crowds are better. From the Sands, Muireann just shakes her head. Dragons will be dragons. "Jeemany. Hope she don't step on somebody up there..." Cause that could get messy. From the Sands, Morianth suddenly creels loudly, and, catching the thoughts of her new lifemate, Janna turns to watch the green dragonet assail the stairs to the Galleries.... From the Sands, Ailheen gasps as the hatchling heads up into the galleries. She keeps her eye on the green, wondering what she's up to. Danallia's shock is magnified a hundredfold as the green dragonet comes
up into the galleries. Always one to stress the facts, her heart beats
rebelliously to stop denying everything and believe, just once, that the
truth is out there.
From the Sands, Mishia blinks, a bit suprised as she sees the green.
This is unheard of.. well, not actually, it happenened before, but... well,
it's just unusual.. Oh, I don't know.. She shakes her head at the illogic
and continues her dance of the thermal currents..
From the Sands, Arial's jaw drops... "Great Faranth," is all she can mutter. You overhear Torin whisper"... I love ... ... ..." to Catasothra. From the Sands, C'zar smiles welcomingly at Eldana as she joins the group then stares after the green, "Shells...Faranth help us all..". Looking at her friend Brekka, Kitiana shrugs. Strange...
From the Sands, Dreamscape of the Scream Dragonet pauses as a stumbling form falls in his line of sight. Could that be the partner he seeks, the One that he who trusts no one could lay all trust in? Bright jeweled eyes gaze up at Fernox. Yes, you are the one I can believe in. Juliana gasps softly, tapping Am on the shoulder. "Look at the green!
It's up here!"
From the Sands, Mishia looks around, noticing her fellow guard impressing. "Congratulations, Fernox." She yells. Tarah giggles at the little big pretty and stands up on her seat to see better, standing up on her tiptoes. From the Sands, Rukar grins, "Congratulations, Fernox." Caitlin smiles softly, with a little shrug of confusion "Looks like she is seeking someone and didn't liek the choice she has on teh sands so maybe she thinks her lifemate is up here on the stands." She shakes her head "Poor wee thing, imagine knowing your lifemate is somewhere but you cannot find her." From the Sands, Overflowing Bookshelf Egg shakes and shimmies. Hey, it's getting crowded in here! Egg rolls a ways to come to a stop in a deep hollow. Vanetin wonders who the beautiful green seeks.. From the Sands, He knew it, he just knew it. But if this bright voice in his mind isn't the truth, then what is? (Surely not voices speaking in his head?) F'ox reaches down to the bronze, face shining with revelation. "He's Mulderth! He says his name is Mulderth!" Mona Lisa Dragonet sees truth, is truth herself. The truth isn't out there... it's right here. And with that she turns her skeptic's gaze on Danallia. From the Sands, Nehyn grins, waving brightly to Fernox. "Congrats! I knew you were the one!" Rhaine tugs on a perticularly annoying lock of blond hair, hands twitching
as she watches the little green with a half smile.
From the Sands, Ailheen turns back to the sands, she grins at Fernox, "Congrats!" From the Sands, Arial makes her way to the new pair, "F'ox if you can bring Mulderth this way," she directs, herding the former guard towards the sidelines. Vanetin follows the beautiful green's gaze to Danallia.. oh, how lucky...
From the Sands, Leather covers tremble as something beneath the innummerable books of the Overflowing Bookshelf Egg seeks escape from the stack. An adventure story, perhaps, come to life? Colors suddenly explode in a rain of falling pages as a Beaded Macrame Dragonet finds escape, rolling out onto the sands with a startled squawk. From the Sands, Beaded Macrame Dragonet From the Sands, Pale wicker streaks straw-like along the spartan conformation of this dragonet, mingled with umber humus in grittily woven nodules of colour. Plain-featured and crudely-fashioned, his wide-winged body is built for function, not form. His neck and tail are sturdily sinuous, but bear no special grace. Steeped in simplicity, he is honest in his imperfection. He is what he is what he is. From the Sands, Wet Clay Egg gives a wibble, trying to dissemble itself. But all it does is plop, settling into a deeper grove within the sand. Ranra sighs with a wide grin. /Finally/ a release of tension. She shouts, "Congrats!" to D'ana, and looks at F'ox on the sands. She's glad that the day went without a hitch. From the Sands, Minothurla sighs deeply. So many dragonets. But what's this? The dusty-looking brown is... interesting... So simple. From the Sands, Saran glances over, a peircing whistle offered before a shout of congratulations. Calia sighs in disappointment for Rukar but keeps her fingers crossed maybe the /next/ one. From the Sands, F'ox? Mulderth? Janna seems to have missed an Impression, her attention trying to follow the green in the Galleries. Turning, she cheers for the lad once known as Fernox. "Congrats!" Her hand trails downward to stroke velvety green neck. From the Sands, Fairelly gazes at Mino and the dragonet that caught her gaze. Interesting, and yet not for her. She eyes the eggs around her, waiting. Is there one for her or will she be returned to Healer? From the Sands, Gryphynn chants as he sees a couple candidates he knows impress, "Way to go." he calls out and watches the eggs. From the Sands, "Fernox? Err..F'ox?" Kym's actuallky paying a bit of attention? Scary thought. "Allright!" She's happy for her former Candidate-in-hiding, yep. But for now...she's just enamored with Gwyneth. From the Sands, Beaded Macrame Dragonet shakes himself from nosetip to tailtip, bits of shell being tossed off. There now... Whirling eyes gaze out upon the sands... the chaos of the moment. Hey! Wait for me! He rushes forward only to fall headlong into a sandbar. Ptoo! From the Sands, Nehyn ohs, nudging some nondescript candidate who's not really paying attention to him, some Smith lad who's not half as fun as Kymra or Eldana. "Oh, check out that brown," he remarks. Pure inovation, he is. Vanetin keeps her eyes on the beautiful greebn, Scullyth, with
a sad smile on her face for both her and her new life-mate..
From the Sands, Mishia looks around, seeing a young man just three feet from him impress an almost violet blue. "His name's Badurth." He whispers. Mishia looks to him and smiles. "Congratulations, Der.. D'row." From the Sands, Gryphynn watches the eggs that are still moving and other hatchlings, wondering if one is going to head for him. He winces as the one runs into the sandbar, and occasionally cheers as he sees an impression. From the Sands, Romilly walks onto the sands from the entrance. From the Sands, F'ox, Mulderth, and others head off towards the edge of the sands where the weyrlingmaster and crew await. A look of utmost surprise still on his face. From the Sands, Rukar grins, watching the newest dragonet make his way through the sand, after a slight fall. "I hope he's allright," he says, as he watches him make his fall. From the Sands, Wet Clay Egg wobbles now, stuck deep in the sand, wobbling upon its broad axis before it comes to a halt. Sand is sprayed, perhaps sticking to that wet looking surface... but the egg does still. From the Sands, Saran cranes his neck...watching all the impressions happening around him, idly shifting from foot to foot he tries to count the pairs already made...green, blue, green, green, whoops was that the first...start over. From the Sands, Minothurla's hair has become pure frizz, heat-frazzled and wretchedly sweaty. But she seems oblivious. Infinitely patient, she simply waits for dragons to approach if they will; or not, if they won't. From the Sands, Ailheen winces as the Macrame hatchling falls, that had to hurt a bit. She glances at the eggs quickly, then turns to the galleries, keeping an eye out for that green. Scullyth moves over to her partner and croons softly. They're
out there. Simply believe. Now let's go down and find Mulderth. ;)
From the Sands, Romilly takes her place on the sand, looking a LOT like she'd been dragged from the bathing chamber. Skullyth comes down the stairs of the Galleries and slips under the front rail onto the Sands. From the Sands, Skullyth slips under the front rail of the Galleries and drops onto the sands. D'ana comes down the stairs of the Galleries and slips under the front rail onto the Sands. From the Sands, D'ana slips under the front rail of the Galleries and drops onto the sands. From the Sands, Rukar starts wobbling from foot to foot, not just from heat, but also from nervousness. From the Sands, Nehyn nudges through the ranks of candidates, away from that Smith, who's suddenly sweating too much. "Hey there. Hi. Sorry about that. Eep, my toes." And so he progresses. Juliana watches, suddenly spying another familier face, and bgives a loud, probably annoying, cheer. "Mish!" Turning to Am, "Look at 'em go Am! I admit, this isn't half as busy, or confused as you'res was! Four queens, amazing!" From the Sands, Romilly pauses to scrub her short hair and watches the Eggs, trying to stay calm." Torin groans as she overhears Juliana's statement. From the Sands, Romilly blinks and looks around. From the Sands, Wet Clay Egg sludges, appropriately, a shudder passing along. So much for that consistancy keeping up... will it blow? From the Sands, D'ana smiles in wonder and astonishment, nodding her head at her hungry green. "Yes, yes, we will." She looks around and then shouts, "F'ox!" Green eyes wide and lips parted in welcoming grin. "I thought we were going back to Fort!" From the Sands, Summer Sunset Egg shimmers and brightens, the last light before the dark? Am'ly's /just/ as confused, thank you very much! "Oh, but it's so different, now! I understand what the poor lads and lasses are thinking. Everything is from a new perspective." From the Sands, Gryphynn sighs as he watches hatchlings go for the other candidates. He still hopes and watches the other eggs closely. From the Sands, F'ox raises a hand to the back of his head and rubs it. "I guess not D'ana." What would Captain Skinner say back at Bitra? ;) From the Sands, Morianth croooons softly as her clutchsister comes back from the Galleries. Her gently whirling eyes speed up a bit, just beginning to be touched with the red of her active appetite. From the Sands, Sludge slides, slips, slithers; the wet earth moulded by some inner hand... or paw... But what shape does it take? What new creation forms? The topmost shards splinter free, though the base remains firm; and suddenly it's dragonet on the half-shell as the Venus on a Clamshell Dragonet clambers free. From the Sands, Venus on Clamshell Dragonet From the Sands, Rich, briny hide reflects the drowned hues of underwater vegetation, muted kelp circulating under layers of current that cascade with crystalline clarity over her lithe, athletic frame. Minty froth churns at the edges of her extremities, slender limbs etched in that pearlescent hue, which repeats in delightful abandon along each spar's length, as the foaming nacre crests of waves nearing shore ripple across raked sails furled to the winds. Her elegantly chisled head rests atop a sinuous neck that swells forward like the prow of some proud ship, cutting forwards through the waves of chaos. Torin lets out a sigh. She knows how most of them are feeling...only /too/ well. From the Sands, Beaded Macrame Dragonet pauses, looking like the world is being just too mean. Where is whom he seeks! Where! *creeeeel!* From the Sands, Ailheen shifts from foot to foot, keeping her eyes on the eggs as they start to wiggle. From the Sands, Saran glances back to the galleries just in time to catch the new rider...that the green went in search of, "Lucky..." he mutters, didn't have to stand for hours on these hot sands... From the Sands, Romilly looks at the Clay Egg and tilts her head to one side, watching. From the Sands, Minothurla's face softens. Ah look. The poor dear's hungry. "So sweet, aren't they? When they're babies?" She murmurs to Fairelly. Pity they turn into such scamps when they grow up. From the Sands, Rukar eyes the Summer Sunset Egg. "Hmm... that egg looks interesting," he says to no one in particular. From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles as he watches another egg hatch and smiles. From the Sands, Romilly turns to look at the Sunset egg as well. From the Sands, A slightly scared candidate sidles closer to Nehyn. "Umm..Umm..Umm...Nehyn?" she squeaks. "Tha's your name, right?" From the Sands, Fairelly eyes the brown critically, "I dinna know, he looks right awkward iffn ye be askin' me." From the Sands, Venus on Clamshell Dragonet is here. Adore her. Well, adore her once she gets that bit of shell off her wing. It's attacked with an efficent ferocity, flicked off by her muzzle. Head tilts, watching sires and dams, before she croons. I am here... aren't you lucky? A pause, before she looks at those white clad things across from her. Hmm. From the Sands, Beaded Macrame Dragonet rushes forward, then stops again. Indecision and confusion plain on his little face. Then... an interesting scent catches his attention. There? Maybe? From the Sands, Mishia smiles a bit as she sees the egg hatch, and then jerks her head over to the Macrame dragonet as he protests. From the Sands, The curtain of night ripples across the smooth surface of Summer Sunset Egg, the peace of dusk abruptly disturbed by the no longer sleeping one within. Torn asunder by the first glorious rays of the moon who appears as night encroaches with merciless determination, spilling out the pale flower of Skylark of Poetry Dragonet for all the world to see. From the Sands, Skylark of Poetry Dragonet From the Sands, Velvet sky descends to dominate his soft hide, blending into sunset's regal violet along his belly, then paling to the glowing silver of predawn pearly iridescence on the horizon of the lilac tinged ridges upon his arched neck. Raked wings are aswirl with snowy clouds, natural aerial camoflague for a flyer born to soar. His large whirling eyes set in a sculptured head reveal a tendency to laugh with joyous abandon, to match the barely concealed excitement evident in the twitches of a sensitive tail-tip. From the Sands, Nehyn spots--or half-spots--another green hatching, trying to peek over the shoulders of half a dozen amazon weaver girls drooling over the macrame brown. "Oh, um. Yup?" he says, spotting the scared-looking candidate. "Got any weaver repellant?" he asks with a toothy grin. From the Sands, Tam yawns...unintentionally, as it's been a rather unusual hatching. She'd never seen a stands impression before. But for some reason, she is exhausted. Eyes blink once and she makes her way towards the new 'lings, standing next to C'zar and leaning her head on his shoulder. From the Sands, Romilly looks at the Macrame Dragonet and turns to face it. "Poor thing." she murmers, sympathizing. From the Sands, Gryphynn turns and looks as another egg hatches. He watches the hatchlings and wonders who they are going to go for, could it be him?" From the Sands, Beaded Macrame Dragonet creels in high pitched tones, hurrying forward for a bastion of comfort and eternal patience, and stopping in front of Minothurla. Mine? Mine! From the Sands, Saran glances over to Nehyn, "Why ye be wanting to get rid of weavers?" he whispers...can think of a few ways to distract those girls..."Rip yer robe." is his suggestion...it'll get there attention. Ranra looks at the next hatchling. A very nice green.. and then a blue! They're just hatching and hatching... she looks at the blue with a smile, then looks at the green. Tonight has been a very good night for greens... who will this one go to? From the Sands, Ailheen blinks as all the hatchlings seem to hatch at once, she turns her head right and left trying to watch each one. From the Sands, "Umm?" Blond-haired girlie ponders for a moment, frown etched in her face. "Don'...don' think so." Whatever. Sneaking a bit closer to the feral Candidate, she offers up, "I like the green. Which d'ya like?" From the Sands, C'zar slips his arm about Tam's waist, "Hot...tired?", he asks her with a soft glance before focusing again on the weyrlings and dragonets that soon will need to be taken to the weyrling area, hungry dragonets all over! Iona grins and cheers for Saran. From the Sands, Skylark of Poetry Dragonet stretches one wing and then another, almost tempted to try them out now and yet not with the parental units looking on. All four of them. Pity. From the Sands, Venus on Clamshell Dragonet supposes she should choose someone from this bunch... as ragtag as they look. Head is tossed, the waves of sand parting for her. Well, she is moving between a few dunes, as she moves herself closer to these things in white. The first, a gawky miner lad, is promptly dismissed. Hmmph. From the Sands, M'othur rests a plump hand on the straw-coloured brown's head. "Yes, Earth dear. We'll find some food for you straight away." Kitiana giggles as she watches the Skylark of Poetry Dragonet.
They are all so beautiful.
From the Sands, Arial offers a cross-eyed disgusted look at Caz and Tam... do those two never stop that lovey-dovey stuff. Ugh. Vomitous. Of course, Ari could just be jealous. ;) From the Sands, Rukar's eyes just zoom out, taking in everything. From the Sands, Nehyn isn't feral! Or at least, not often. "Oh sure, she's nice. If I could see her." He pokes a couple weaver girls in the back until they make room. "Rip my robe? I don't think so. If it were any shorter, I wouldn't have any robe left!" From the Sands, Kym is lovey-dovey. Just not publicly. Well...unless you count Gwyneth? From the Sands, Elisandra smiles, leaning against Zivath wearily. "No, you were much lovelier and much, much more graceful when you hatched, love." Of course. ;) From the Sands, Tam's reply is another yawn. "Tired, I think....." Dark eyes glance briefly at the dragonets and their lifemates. "Gonna be more tired soon, though," she chuckles softly as she considers all those eggs not yet hatched. She, or course, chooses to ignore Arial. >;-) From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles as he thinks once again that he might have a chance. His heart pounds in his chest as he sees another hatchling appear, Could it be the one? He watches a young girl impress a green next to him and he smiles and congratulates her and then turns back to see if one of these might go for him. From the Sands, Romilly stays put when the Macrame Dragonet rushes, watching nervously. From the Sands, Saran chuckles as he follows Nehyn through the crowds opening, "It'd distract them..." he tries to convice the holder with a grin..."It would!" hands held up in defense as he quiets...nervously eyeing the dragonets milling about. Brekka ohhhhs softly "Look at that they are all hatching at once." at least thats what it seems to me. From the Sands, Romilly chuckles a bit and ducks some of the flying sand from the Venus Dragonette, trying to avoid getting sand in her eyes. From the Sands, Venus on Clamshell Dragonet creates a minute tsumani of dust, nearly getting the whorlwhind into the eyes of a smaller girl, a former seacrafter. Something... but just not quite. Onward she moves, upon the hunt, gaze seeking but just now finding what would be perfect. From the Sands, Slightly-ditsy blonde follows, of course -- she's latched onto Nehyn. Hers. From the Sands, Skylark of Poetry Dragonet rushes forwards, towards the clouds of white dancing before him. Curiousity causes him to peer at each face, each robe, each candidate. Is this the one to share the skies with me? From the Sands, Rukar grins, "Congrats Nehyn!" From the Sands, Mishia still almost hops from foot to foot, looking like a dancer, almost. 'cept Mish can't dance. She can, however keep her feet cool this way.. Tarah scoots over near Brekka as she continues to watch all the excitement. From the Sands, Minothurla, now M'othur, gently leads Earth off to one side, still surprisingly serene for having just impressed the brown. But then, he's just another sort of child, isn't he? From the Sands, Romilly moves from one foot to another as the heat sinks into her feet. From the Sands, Rukar is starting to feel alone, with so many of his friends gone away from their group. Is his lifemate out there, somewhere? From the Sands, Saran takes a few backpedalling steps away from Nehyn as dragonet suddenly attaches herself to him, "Uhm...congrats..." putting more space between him and the newly chosen rider. From the Sands, Morianth nudges J'na's leg. From the Sands, Ailheen tries to watch both of the hatchlings, finding it nearly impossible, she just keeps turning her head, trying her best. From the Sands, Nehyn smirks at Saran. "Oh sure, probably. And I bet they'd just tumble all over themselves begging to mend it, hmm?" There's reason he didn't fix the hem. The sharding thing is short enough already. Yet all of a sudden, the robe is forgotten, as Nehyn peeks back at some particular green that's following him. Brekka smiles at Tarah her eyes dancing in excitment "Isn't this something?" From the Sands, Fairelly eyes min- no M'othur and Earth enviously and yet, he wasn't for her. That she knows. "Congradulations Mino!" From the Sands, Gryphynn just stands there on the sands, his feet being burn by the heat, but he doesn't feel it, so distracted by the magnificent hatchlings is he. He makes not a sound, his heart in his throat. He watches oh so closely at the hatchlings. Calia keeps her fingers crossed for Rukar but doesn't speak as she hopes
for him intently
From the Sands, Romilly waves at M'othur in congradulations. From the Sands, Mishia squeezes Rukar's hand gently, crouching a bit, getting at least her heels off of the flaming sands. Her headband slips down slowly, eliciting a frown from her. Drat. Tarah nodnods quietly, grinning up at her friend. From the Sands, Venus on Clamshell Dragonet pauses and spies... what is /this/? Who is that pair wandering around? A soft harrumph can actually be heard from the tiny, if rotund dragonet, as she makes her way toward a clinging cluster of candidates. What is going on here? A girl is nudged, as she peers up at the faces. From the Sands, J'na motions Morianth closer. Ranra wipes her hands on her thighs again. It's just so wonderful to see all this going on... she's never been so... happy? No, she might have been this happy, but, this is a new feeling for her. Completely on a new level. From the Sands, Skylark of Poetry Dragonet catches a glimpse of something... who's that girl there? Simple and unadorned, she's just his style. He moves closer, closer, closer... almost floating upon the sand. From the Sands, Blonde-haired Girl continues to flaunt and flounce after Nehyn, beaming adoringly up at him. "Where're you going?" she wonders innocently. From the Sands, Ailheen watches the Venus hatchling wondering who she's going to pick. She turns to watch the Skylark for a few mins also, trying to do both at the same time. From the Sands, Nehyn tsks at the ditzy blond following him--isn't it just typical? "Watch out now, one of these weavers will crush you." Yeah, the amazons. Suddenly, he clears his thoat. "I, er, think someone's following us." He indicates the green dragonet. Any more folks in this group, and it'd be a parade! From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles as he watches the hatchlings go towards candidates that he knows. He wishes them well and congratulation, though there is something hiding in his eyes as he turns back to those still wandering around and the unhatched eggs. From the Sands, Do the Conga! From the Sands, A'razi laughs softly at the game of follow-the-leader processing across the Sands. From the Sands, Rukar just watches as the current dragonets make their pick, mind pondering the ever-present question 'Is my lifemate out there?' From the Sands, Ariba! .....no wait, wrong dance. From the Sands, Romilly perks up at the Harrumph, then grins, and tries to keep looking at the entire clutch, not just one specific one. From the Sands, C'zar squeezes Tam's waist again and chuckles, "Would ya loook it that?". All sorts of things to be seen on these sands...a hatching never to be forgotten. From the Sands, Saran drops out of the game...he'll let Nehyn lead the progression...though steps are minced as he avoids the amazon weavers that have the holder concerned...shifting, testing his feet to see how long they can stand to stay against hot sands before changing feet...sandals at the time were a good idea. From the Sands, Batting eyelashes, the girl sidles a bit closer to Nehyn. "Can't let tha' happen!" she exclaims, almost clinging on to the Candidate. Not to mentino such a short robe....my. From the Sands, Romilly blinks up at the Dragonete.. could that one be looking at Her? Vanetin will never forget tthis hatching, her first ever.. From the Sands, Mishia stands a bit after her heels cool, and she continues to watch the dragonets emerge, a hand moving into her pocket and clenching around something. From the Sands, Tam nestles her head closer, nose pressed against C'zar's neck, eyes blinking a bit again. "So many hatched, and yet...so many more to go...." From the Sands, Rukar plops down on the sand next to Mishia, feeling so alone. From the Sands, Venus on Clamshell Dragonet completely nudges that blonde out of the way. /Flawed/. This is now what she wants. Now this other one... the ebony locks that are oh silk fine, and that face! Adoration seems to be bestoed upon Nehyn, as she wraps herself about him. /Hers/. From the Sands, Arial politely averts her face from the coddling couple... really, if she wanted so much sweetling, she'd ask Eldana to bake for her. From the Sands, Oh, there she is, the /one/ he was looking for. Had she been hiding? He almost missed her. Skylark of Poetry Dragonet stares up at Romilly lovingly, here is his soulmate, the one he wants to share the skies with. From the Sands, Elisandra eyes Tam and C'zar, shaking her head. How can they stand to snuggle up out /here/ in this /heat/? From the Sands, A'razi gives the pair an amused look. Couldn't even wait 'til they were off the hot Sands, apparently. From the Sands, C'zar mmms to Tam, "I know...I know...", he says then strains to see. "Shells, is that Nehyn?" Exciting! Kymra and Nehyn both have found their lifemates at last! Eyes bug wide, "An Romilly!". From the Sands, Gryphynn smiles, "congrats, Nehyn," he says and turns to see who the other hatchlings are going after. He looks at the eggs, are any more moving? Will the hatch? From the Sands, Romilly BLINKS!!!!, then drops down to look at the Dragonette, "A... A.. Arventh?" she shakes her head, looking as if someone had smacked her with a board. From the Sands, Ailheen smiles as the two hatchlings impress, she turns and calls out a congrats to Romilly and Nehyn before turning back to look at the eggs. From the Sands, Gryphynn turns and give congrats to Rommilly, and looks, realizing that no more of the eggs are moving. He lowers his head a little, but then bites his lip and forces a smile to his face and beams congrats to another. Seamus blinks in from **between** From the Sands, How..how rude! The ditzy girl sniffs slightly, then flounces away. From the Sands, Arial lets out a whoop, "Well done, Nehyn! Cariath is lovely!" and then another Impression, directly after, "And Romilly! Good job," she calls. From the Sands, Mishia smiles softly. "Congratulations, Romilly, Arventh.." She looks at Nehyn. "Great going, Nehyn, Cariath..." She waves to them, her hand still in the pocket. From the Sands, "Nehyn! Congrats!" Janna's cheer is a little bit quieter, yet no less heartfelt, as she smiles at him and Cariath. She scritches Moriath to distract her from her stomach, and looks out across the Sands at the eggs and Candidates remaining. Iona sighs in sympathy for Gryphynn. From the Sands, C'zar notices a lull in the hatching, "Hmmm, I think we'd best get this bunch off to the barracks", shards, poor others that have to stay out here on hot sands, waiting for the sound of eggs cracking. Caz does his best to raise his voice about the chaos, "Weyrlings? Bring your lifemates...", he steps away from Tam, "Maybe you an Arial kin make sure they all get off the sands ok love?". From the Sands, Saran glances as two impressions happen almost simultanously, "Good luck..." they'll need it, he's sure. Vanetin nudges Brekka, "Is it over? What about the other eggs? Kitiana sighs for Mishia and Gryphynn. Then she beams at her friend Janna. She can't wait to actually see her and be introduced to her lifemate. From the Sands, Tam manages enough energy to lift her head from C'zar's shoulder - fine, fine, jealous people >;-) - and smiles. "Oh thank Faranth! Nehyn and Kymra both at last! And....Romilly?" She laughs in delight at the well chosen lifemates and their lovely dragonets. From the Sands, Mishia sighs and looks for a convenient way to seat, waiting for eggs to crack as they start to lull off. "You ok, Rukar?" From the Sands, Romilly kneels to look at Arventh. "I'm Romilly" From the Sands, Nehyn? Cheers for Nehyn? Eldana raises her head from where it rests against Ilyth's jowl, "Nehyn? Nehyn! Congrats!" From the Sands, Kym's eyes widen happily, and she mimics her earlier shriek at Eldana. "Neeeeen!" She beams, bouncing brightly. "Allllright!" No sickness for Nehyn, this time! Gwyneth croons. Hungry, ma. From the Sands, Rukar nods, a breif sigh following. Torin nudges the sleeping lad at her side. "Wake up, Corman." From the Sands, Arial starts herding the unImpressed towards the entrance to the Sands, where tents and cots had been set up. "Seems to be a bit of a lull, best if you all get a bit of sleep before we start again." Iona looks around, "What? No more hatchings? We have to wait? Ohhh,
dear, poor candidates."
From the Sands, Fairelly makes her way out, about to drop from heat
and exhaustion. A cot never sounded so good.
From the Sands, Mishia nods and helps Rukar out before leaving herself. Torin nods sleepily to Am'ly. "That would be nice. I just hope
that Corman doesn't get sick all over Cio...he almost did on Pwylth."
From the Sands, Gryphynn watches the new weyrlings start to leave the sands and he waves to J'na, "Bye." he says softly and turns to look back at the eggs. From the Sands, Tam nods at C'zar, stiffling yet another yawn - shards, why is she so tired? She too helps Arial begin to instruct the new weyrlings. "If you can head to the barracks? She asks a few stragglers on the sands as the eggs are still once more. Am'ly's eyes cross silently in a comical expression of puzzlement, followed
soon by a grin and unenthusiastic shrug. "He'll just take /another/ bath,"
the rider advises. "Already had two today."
From the Sands, Gryphynn stands his ground watching the eggs, "Can't sleep," he says in a faint voice Corman crosses his arms and frowns at the rider. "'m better 'bout ridin' dragons now...not nearly 's scary n' more. I won get sick." From the Sands, Saran pauses to brush out wrinkles in his robe as he trails after the other hopefuls, some not looking too hopeful. Mind in a whirl as he wonders ifn they have posted guards...some of that enough to scare the brawnest man..let alone /him/. From the Sands, Romilly blinks a bit dazedly at Tam. "Huh?" Torin rolls her eyes, then looks to Catasothra. "What about you, Journeyman?
Shall I ask the kind rider if she can take one more?"
From the Sands, Tam points to the barracks. "Follow the others, Romilly." She grins down at the newly hatched blue and smiles. "There is food there Arventh. More than enough to feed that rumble in your belly." Torin turns to Am'ly. "Can Cio handle one more?" From the Sands, N'hn leaves to the Barracks. "Myself and three others," Am'ly intones with a slight smile, gesturing towards the entrance and beckoning the others to follow. "Cioranth would love a trip to Fort Hold and the Harper Hall. Away we go." From the Sands, Tam proceeds to tiredly shoo the stragglers, both new weyrlings as well as still candidates. "Please, it's very hot and the eggs are quiescent now. Candidates, go the entranceway, weyrlings, head for the barracks." From the Sands, Gryphynn sighs, he doesn't wanna go, but gets shuffled out the entrance. From the Sands, Zivath crooons, but some of her brood is still here. Elisa looks up and sighs. "What? But dearest, I'm /hot/. Can't I go for a little while and cool off?" Nope. Stay. Here. Romilly kneels to look at Arventh. "I'm Romilly" Nehyn? Cheers for Nehyn? Eldana raises her head from where it rests
