At the time of the mission to destroy Thread, a ninth Weyr was proposed to relieve the overcrowding in every one of the older Weyrs. A favored site was examined at the eastern end of the Western Barrier Range.
On the western shore of the Caspian Lake, at the confluence between the edge of the wide Rubicon River and the small inner sea, a small body of water full of granite cliffs that once housed Xanadu stakehold. Wide stone steps were cut in the granite leading down to the lake shore.
The dwelling itself had been built of the native stone. Its chimney stack still stood into the Ninth Pass. The imperssive vista in the sheltered valley and the broad lake with the interesting chimneylike islets would make a good weyr when Thread no longer fell.
Breda, a journeywoman weaver from Crom, and her dragon Amaranth, were thought to be good candidates for Weyrwoman and chief queen for the ninth Weyr when it should be founded. Amaranth was Ramoth's last daughter, clutched before the mission to end Thread.
A general sketch of the layout of the areas and where the other locations might be kept. The Weyr would reside in the original hold as the granite cliffs above it would serve as possible wyers for dragons, while some could also live in the forests off to the north. The Herders could reside around the turn of the mountain so that the passing dragons would not disturb the animals too much. A new Hold with modern anemities could be built more to the south where they'd have access to clear lands for fields. The Weavers could reside within or next to the Hold area with access to the small garden/field between the Weyr and Hold for growing the special plants and herbs they'd need for their dyes, etc.

Generalized floor plan of the Weyr, the grey areas are hallways and small halls. The Hatching Cavern will be 'discovered' as a natural inner bubble with the proper geothermic heated sand and the usual airway tunnel leading in for the dragons found blocked only by a thin layer of stone that could be chipped away (located well above the roof of the second floor). Though the Cavern is much smaller than the one at Benden.
