GROUND ZERO

Shadowman Comic, Volume 2 No. 11

It's not all deadlines and editorial negotiations in this job, really. Sometimes I get the Shadowman lore repeated back to me, with new and different spin on it. And that's what's happening with the stack of videocassettes and design documents that take up the Shadowman video-game corner on my desk. Now look: I stopped playing games like this when it became impossible to skew the outcome by tilting the table... but from what I'm seeing on this game, I may have to limber up my trigger finger and start playing again. Val has more on this, but I thought I'd add my voice: the Shadowman game is going to be really cool. And you can believe me: I'm an editor. - Mad.

"The end is a-comin', Shadowman. I seen it in Deadside dreams. There's a scourge ridin' free on the soulwinds, movin' in from a place of madness and murder, poisonin' those minds that need to act on their darkest desires..." - Angenetta "Nettie" Dubois.

Yup, when Zero hears those immortal words he KNOWS Nettie's gonna send him out on another assignment... and WHAT an assignment it is! Nothing less than preventing the APOCALYPSE!

In the forthcoming SHADOWMAN video game from Acclaim Entertainment, Zero has to bounce back and forth between Liveside (you know, where we are... most of us) and Deadside (howling tortured souls, great gnashing of teeth, so on and so forth) in order to prevent some malfeasant from prying open the lid on the Deadside neighborhood called the Asylum. And what is Asylum? Where the souls of all the really bad people go -serial killers, genocidal madmen, and their ilk. Very important not to let that porthole open. Very very important!

In addition to Nettie and Jaunty, two regulars you've grown to know, love, and fear, Shadowman is joined in this game by the myriad denizens of Asylum, which are presented here - for the first time ever - for your viewing pleasure.

Just be aware that these are all preliminary character designs and the only way to see the final version is to check out the SHADOWMAN video game in '98!

Thanks to Simon Phipps and everybody at Iguana UK for the Shadowman info and images. See U in thirty.
