About the Author of the Star Trek Link Page

Hi. I'm the author of the Star Trek Link Page. My name is Adam Porter, I'm 13 years old, and I live in Corning, Arkansas. I've been working with computers since I was about 4 years old, so I know how to use them very well. I've also always loved Star Trek. I like the Original Series and the Next Generation best. And I think TNG the best of all. Deep Space 9 and Voyager just don't have the same feeling that TOS and TNG have. DS9 was, to me, pretty much a flop. Voyager seems like more of a step back in the right direction, though.

Back to computers, I've programmed with both Visual Basic and C, but not anything serious. I just got started with both of them, not really into them. I learned HTML by looking at other pages, and trial and error. It's really very easy. I have an AMD K6-233 with 48 MB RAM, a Mitsumi 24X CD-ROM, a 3 ½" floppy drive, a Colorado QIC-80 tape drive for backup (which I rarely use), about 5.3 GB of total hard disk space, a Creative SB32 PnP sound card, an ATI Xpert@Play video card with 8MB of memory, a Canon BJC-4100 printer, a NEC MultiSync 4DS monitor, a Microsoft IntelliMouse (which I HIGHLY recommend), a Thrustmaster joystick and throttle, a good keyboard with a soft touch that's not too soft, it's just right, an Intel EtherExpress Pro/10 network card, a Zoom Telephonics 28.8 kbps modem, and last but certainly not least, an APC Smart-UPS 600 backup power supply, which has saved my computer many times from power outages (which are fairly frequent where we live).

I use Windows 95 (which I think is the best OS), MS Office 95 (which I think is the best office suite), and a host of other programs which you can find out about on the Recommended Programs page.

Well, I guess that's about it. If I think of anything more to say about myself, I'll update this page. Thanks for coming to my page. Comments and/or questions are welcome. You can send them to startrekfan@geocities.com. Have a nice day!
