The Story of Me...

Once upon a time I was known by many different names. Some called me Fearless Muddy Leader. Yet others (or some of the same) called me Monster Girl. And more, a few have known me as Amanda The Purple Panda Who Only Likes Green Grapes... The stories of how these names came to be are not very interesting - one involved a muddy creek, another a radish, and the last invovled a very odd day at church with an odd person (The Yellow Bunny).

So, life goes on. You grow up, move away, make new friends and think, "No one's as weird as I am." I mean, having a nick-name that identifies you as an eccentric and strangely colored animal is odd to say the least. But then you find out your new friend is the Purple Duck Boy. Either the person in charge has a good sense of humor, or weirdos are attacted to eachother.

The afore mentioned Duckie is Dan, or Texas, or now John (to solve the Dan & Dan confusions). Unfortunatly to solve the problem by calling the one John requires calling the other one (my husband) Pete. He doesn't like that. Actually, he hates it. So don't call him Pete. Dan (Duckie, Texas, John) is my friend from college. I can tease because I graduated!

As for my husband... There's not much to say. He graduated with me in May, and is currently looking for work as a Mechanical Engineer. Someone please hire him. We got married this May (just after graduation) and have been living in Ames since.

I feel like there's not much else to say. My life has been pretty dull as of late. We're moving to a new apartment tomorrow which should provide some excitement, but the routine will set in again. Feel free to email me, or call if you know me. I do feel the need to go on an adventure sometime soon. It will probably be camping.

On Friday Dan (my husband) suggested a backpacking trip to a few of our friends. Three of the four raised their hands. (Yes, we're all nerds.) Unfortunatly, it doesn't look like that's going to happen this summer. Too many problems with the logistics. I'm still going camping, though. I put my foot down. It looks like maybe we'll arrange to go car-camping up at Pine Lake. And of course, we'll take all the guys who raised their hands and make them do lots and lots of hiking!

I suppose I should insert a paragraph about my interests and hobbies. Obviously I like camping. Hiking is fun too. Another great past-time that I enjoy most of the time is thinking. Not necessarily about useful things - the time I threw a radish at my brother... that was funny. Sometimes, though, I think about things that I'd rather not. That's been happening more lately, so I may start drinking to see if that stops it. Actually, I'll probably not start drinking.

Let's see... What else am I interested in? Oh, I like Archaeology. I would like a job doing something related. It seems to be a good field where I can apply my vast knowledge of useless facts. I also like to read. I don't read nearly as much as I like, but I read much more than my husband. Currently, I'm reading The Hobbit by Tolkien. I like the Lord of the Rings books. But Lord of The Floppies is funnier.

One more thing. I have a pet goldfish. His name is Goldfish X, but we just call him Fishy. I think he has occassional siezures. Sometimes he goes nuts and jumps out of the water. I think he's trying run away. Unfortunatly, there's no where to run to, so someday he may just kill himself. I'll put a picture of him up after we move.

Two more things came to mind after I woke up. Another nick-name I've had is Super Bear. It is still in use in some circles. (Well, just the one person calls me that...) Also, since you came and read everything I'll give you something fun to do. Go watch Chef Tako.
